The games are tied not just to your NNID but to the console they were originally downloaded onto. And your NNID is also tied to the first console you link it to. So it wouldn't be as easy as saving them an ext hdd, plugging that in to another console, signing in to your NNID, and playing them.
With that said, when I bought a second console I had no trouble at all getting my NNID and games transferred to the new system through Nintendo Support. I just had to verify ownership of both consoles and then they forwarded my request to some special team. After a day or two I got a message saying I could now link my NNID to the new console and redownload my games.

I disagree. They don't. Its Nintendo's signature franchise and one that has sold more then any other in video game history. It's what makes Nintendo what it is more then anything else. If you're tired of them then don't buy them. They really REALLY need to give Mario a break.

I don't see horror stories, for some reason people just don't have the patience to contact Nintendo and try and get things straightened out.

I remember on these forums pre-launch and just after Wii U launch there was numerous CPU/GPU power threads every day, now most of those people have gone and never post here anymore.
It's just the ones that care for the games who are left
I wonder, if the Wii U becomes as much of a success as the 3DS what'll happen to the forums...
Now that could make for an interesting thread

eww, they better put the phone on the gamepad along with the otherstuff. That kinda stuff on the screen and using a controller like gta 5 is kinda, not as good.

In all honesty, Mario Kart 8 is the nicest-looking game I have ever seen. I just can't get over it.

Still disagree with this. This past weekend my Wii U wasnt even connected to my tv but I still was able to GAME on the PAD. I know Wii U is not doing well but the gamepad is not the issue... how about you start with Nintendo lack of marketing and complete silence on people shi$ting on the console since day 1. Negative press is continuing to kill this console.

It's funny to me how big this gamepad issue is becoming. I think most people are just trying to look for a reason the WiiU is failing and choosing the gamepad by default. I remember when Wii U was first announced all everyone was talking about was man it would be cool to have your HUD off main screen now on the game pad and off TV play. Now everyone seems to try and make it like you have to make these grand ideas and implementation for the gamepad for it to be of any use. The gamepad is amazing and the reason the WiiU is unique and different. If a game has gameplay that fits the WiiU (Watchdogs looking at you) then make it work if not don't stress put your HUD on gamepad and give us off_tv play and call it a day. Stop trying to blame gamepad for WiiU's problem. Nintendo and it's lack of marketing, not having must have games at launch, selection of released software, and no response stance on negative developers, journalist and media is why the WiiU is in the place it is now.

A little game called Game & Wario makes great use of the Gamepad.
I for one think the Gamepad is an excellent thing, I love having a map or inventory screen at a quick glance, not having to pause the game and its use in games such as Game & Wario, Tank Tank Tank, Zombi U, Call of Duty (love the split screen), Rayman Origins, Nintendo Land and even Mario and Sonic tries to do something more original with it.
I'm at the stage now where I find it odd to play a game without a second screen, I get over it quickly but it just feels empty without it.

Haven't got to try Lego city but it's use in dues ex is amazing. Worth every cent. Can't imagine playing the game without the gamepad.
Yes Deus Ex is amazing on Wii U. Gamepad integration from the ground up for this game. I also think NFSMW U does a great job utilizing the gamepad.

I love the gampad, I love Off-TV play, I love the fact that it acts like a map (really if games just did this, I would be perfectly happy, as long as it supported touch too.) ZombiU and others that take advantage of it makes games 100x better.
