#238967 Slow Internet and Freezing Netflix

Posted by Lebon14 on 13 August 2013 - 07:24 AM in Wii U Hardware

He changed the channel (from 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.11) to one with less traffic, so he got a larger share of bandwidth.

He alo changed the DNS. Instead of using his ISP's (when nothing's there, that's what it does), he changed it for Google's DNS. (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4)

#238685 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by Lebon14 on 11 August 2013 - 08:41 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Dont know what you are referring too.

This:

Ohm, Go into the pause menu, to the second menu and equip the rainbow colored 'full auto'. The computer will begin assisting you with combos, and even block or dodge for you sometimes.

But I just realized that you weren't talking to me.

Probably because you didnt have enough ingrediants. All it gives you are consumables that the demo gives you like candy anyways.

Icons lit up on the right side and figured that I used enough ingredients but... it didn't work for some reason. Like the game explained to me how it worked anyway.

Im not even sure what the middle of this is supposed to mean, but the quote function doesnt always work correctly for mobile browsers/wii u.

If the [ quote] tag failed then, oh ok. You have ever had this person repeating what you say to annoy the crap out of you? That's what supposed to mean but if the browser is at fault, well, discard that part completely.

Thats cool dude, you arent trying to tell people who do enjoy it that they are full of crap and its a bad game, just because you personally are having trouble/scared off. Theres a pretty big difference between what you've posted and what certain other people have.

If you go into the options, under the second tab labeled 'custom' there should be four gems you can equip, the last one will be rainbowy, its called 'full auto', if you equip that, the cpu will help you out with some of the combos, and even blocking sometimes. Should make the game a little less intimidating.

Thanks and thanks again for the tip. However, I'm scared off for good. Last time it happened, it was when I was playing Half-Life 2 and there was this long tongue hanging-from-the-ceiling monsters around a corner. It had been a while since I saw one of those guys so I took for granted that they disappeared for good. So, I turned a corner quick and one of those was RIGHT there and scared the crap out of me, so much that I shot a full clip of pistol at it. After that gaming session, I never played the game again. FACT.

Actually, every clover/platinum game has done exactly what you requested since viewtiful joe.

So will this. It wont just hurl you into the middle of the game like the demo. Im honestly not looking forward to it and hope it can be skipped/turned off. Oh well.

Ohm, Go into the pause menu, to the second menu and equip the rainbow colored 'full auto'. The computer will begin assisting you with combos, and even block or dodge for you sometimes.

Well, if they all do it, why not include it in the demo with an option to skip direct to the action? I know that you want to give as much as a preview as possible but you don't want to throw off your future possible players either.

Also, OH SORRY FOR MISSING an option. I also tried mixing this stuff and pressing the Y button did JACK CRAP.

Finally, use the[ quote] tag, it looks like you copy me. Exemple dialog:

Me: So, today I watched somebody rock RAWK HAWK
You: So, today I watched somebody rock RAWK HAWK
Me: It was an awesome match
You: It was an awesome match
Me: Shaddap
You: Shaddap

If that was your intention, that was totally immature and unfit for a moderator. Everybody got opinion. Mine may be biased because the game scared me off so I stopped playing after 15 minutes and I may have not used all the options available. And I did try to check the gamepad help and tried to make use of the tips that appeared here and there the most possible but I was still scared off and unable to play jackcrap. And it was on Easy.

also, the "we need a tutorial" argument shows why today's gamers cant beat the first super mario game: no instinct left (specially considering they have mentioned how to play the game each time they have mentioned it on nintendo directs, there are gameplay videos on youtube and even there is the platinum games' blog dedicated to the game where they take you by the hand on getting into the game mechanics)

Using SMB as an exemple is... not a good exemple at all. SMB got 2 buttons, a directional pad and the TV to worry about. Here, with W101, we have two joystick, 8 buttons, gamepad screen and monitor/TV to worry about.  Sorry but you are comparing apples to bananas. And, usually, unless I don't plan to play the game myself, I don't watch gameplay videos or anything of the like because, yeah, I don't want to spoil myself.

Yes, if you format the SDXC card to fat32.

Good to know, thanks.

And it seems to be US only (OF COURSE!!!!). You can offer SD cards in Canada! Amazon, Newegg, etc is there to fit your place ANYWAY.

EDIT

Does the 3DS supports SDXC formats (64GB or more) already?

#238475 Wonderful 101 is the reason to own a Wii U

Posted by Lebon14 on 11 August 2013 - 07:03 AM in Wii U Games and Software

I genuinely tried the demo yesterday evening and... it's not my cup of tea. There is a lot on the screen going on at once and I get myself lost in that. Also, there might be videos tutorial and stuff but I feel that the game should make an interactive training session, especially in the drawing segment of the game with "punching bag enmmies" (ennemies that doesn't budge or if they do, they don't attack) and then gradually introduce action. What I played is a game that drops you directly into action with very little to help you out: Use "something" (/reference) to attack! Then, the action grows more intense and then it says "you can draw figures!" when you are already overloaded with checking the gamepad and then the mainscreen trying to figure out what to do. Argh. Again, I like action games but not this kind and that's probably what make me suck very hard.

The graphics however are pretty darn good. The greatest surprise I had was: Japanese audio with English subs! Wiis dubs, all hail original audio and language! (says somebody that loves anime and used to watch them a lot)

On that, take my opinion with a grain of salt because I'm not in this kind of game. Maybe Pikmin may be more suited for me than W101.

#236313 Pokemon RPG for Wii U

Posted by Lebon14 on 31 July 2013 - 11:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Also want more then 4 moves.

That won't happen. The fact of only having 4 moves is all about strategy.

Personally, I'd like a Pokemon MMO over an XD/Colloseum. It'd be the only MMO I'd play.

#222545 Zelda U to contain a bit of Skyrim

Posted by Lebon14 on 16 June 2013 - 12:50 AM in Wii U Games and Software

perceptive. Read this.

http://tvtropes.org/...arityVsOpenness

Zeldas and metroids, the best ones are typically around a 4 on this scale. Recent ones have slipped to 3's and even nearly 2's.

Im sure most would be pleased as punch to just put it back up to its natural 4, and not really all the way to 6.

Good stuff in that link. Thanks for sharing.

GS-GSTLA must be Level 4-5. However Dark Dawn is probably 2, max 3 but becomes sorta of a 5 post-game. I'm talking about Golden Sun, in case you are ondering. But I digress.

Zelda taking hints of Skyrim can only do good to the series. I never cared to finish SS because of the awkward motion controls but I heard it's pretty darn linear.

#219715 Nintendo E3= Disappointing?

Posted by Lebon14 on 11 June 2013 - 12:31 PM in E3 2013 Archive

My biggest disappointment, for me, was Super Mario 3D World. Yes, 3D Land is fun and all. Peach not being captive for once is a plus (then, again, Nintendo never really put effort plot-wise for their platformers) but.......... I expected so much more for a 3D Mario. 3D Land was perfect for the 3DS. Oh, look it sold amazingly, let's do an HD game with the same concept and add a Cat powerup.

The 2nd disappointment was the lack of 3rd support. Without this support, I feel that only Nintendo games are supporting Nintendo console. :(

Beside that, Mario Kart 8 looks awesome. Bayonetta 2 is growing on me. W101 too... and, of course, Pokemon X & Y. I could make a list but I really don't feel like it at all.

#218785 Pokemon X & Y Thread

Posted by Lebon14 on 10 June 2013 - 06:42 PM in E3 2013 Archive

I am not going to boycott Pokémon games because of new battling types. I'd do so because I didn't like Black and White, Black 2 or White 2. Those versions were simply crap, IMO. If they're going to walk the same path with X and Y, I don't see any reason for me to get another Pokémon game anymore.

BW was good for the story. B2W2 was a thrownaway game.

About move set... I don't really play strategically(besides the types comparison). What made me like Pokémon, when I first played Blue, was I could name my pokémon and train them to reach higher levels. It was fun to know about the types and their weaknesses, but that's about it. When IVs, EVs, PokéRus, Natures and more relevant abilities appeared, I just kept with my old "attack-based" style. That's why I don't play against other trainers anymore. I have a friend that doesn't care if it's a Gyarados if it isn't Adamant, and some other training-related data. Doesn't feel like Pokémon anymore, just a card game or whatever.

PokéRUS has been around since Gen II and it's so rare, oh gawd. I also "kept the old fighting style" but while being aware of those extra thing. I do care about Nature in-game but I don't give a crap about EVs, IVs or whatever.

If a pokémon is to be type Echo for making noise, like Loudred, Slaking should be Sleepy/Dream type. It doesn't make much sense if it's about how loud one can scream.

You know that sound itself are waves right? Sound can do physical harm while being too loud, having high frequencies, etc. That's why it's a type to begin with. Typing is also in the pokémon's genetic. Now, the pokémons that could be Echo/Sound type are those that can manipulate sound or are related to sound and music (ie. being a bell a bell makes sound), it's not about how loud one can scream. Sleep and Dream types makes no sense whatsoever but Echo/sound does. They want to reduce the amount of Normal types while still making sense while creating these new types.

I don't get why Poison pokémon need to be sly. They're poisonous, doesn't mean they want to cause you harm or fool you(like Gengar does, to play with Ash in the series). Their poison is, compared to real life, more likely to be used for protection(ok, this is Pokémon and they'll be fighting, but doesn't change the fact) than to attack other creatures. It's not like they're trying to hide their poison, but using it as a threat, IMHO.

They need to be sly to, like you said, fool you and harm you. For exemple, somebody who wants to poison you wouldn't want you to notice him putting poison in your drink. That's why I think that Poison is an opposite to Fairy. Poison is deadly and sly. Fairies are friendly, sociable and obvious.

Over and out.

Am I the only one that went "WTF" when seeing this while reading the first post?

EDIT

I'm not a fighting game gamer but, I would really love to see some Golden Sun love in the next SSB. The "original 8" + Matthew, Karis and Tyrell are all excellent addition. I would also vote for Sveta too... she could be a second Zelda/Sheik. Fans of GS will know what I mean.

#218031 Pokemon X & Y Thread

Posted by Lebon14 on 09 June 2013 - 11:04 PM in E3 2013 Archive

^ You are going to boycott pokemon games because it introduces new battling elements? You are afraid of doing over your good old move set you never had to touch? Or simply because of something trivial such as a NAME? "NORMAL" type as been around since day 1 and design a pokémon with no particular typing affiliation. Come on.

"Echo", if it is remotely true, won't be affecting existing move that much. I can see move like "Growl" or "Screech" become Echo instead of Normal. There are so many better ways to decrease attack and defense, are there? And, the moves that are going to make damage as this new type, if it exists, won't be abundant. The only move, until 5th gen, that will do damage and might turn Echo is Uproar.

Fairy is the long awaited answer of the opposite of Dark introduced in the 2nd Gen. Yes, it could have been simply named "Light" but "Fairy" is, imo, a broader term. "Fairy" is a pure creature wielding positive energy and light (imo). So, it covers much more ground than "light". Beside the new Eeveelution, Igglybuff line (Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff), the cleffa line (Cleffa, Clefairy, Cleffable), the Togepi line (Togepi, Togetic, Togekiss), Mew and some others that might fit. Now, do you really use those often? Besides Mew (which is pretty hard to come by firstly) which I cannot say for sure, I can say that your answer is "No". Slaking, imo, isn't going to change type any time soon.

About the Fairy one, if it turns to Light type, it should just be related to Dark, not Poison...

You fail to see the link right?

Poison operates in the background to do damage and it's very sly but not necessarily in the darkness: they can also operate in the broad daylight. Now, the Fairy/Light type is somewhat the opposite: sociable (being on the foregound if we can say that) and honest.

Dark pokemons are pokemon that loves the night. Like Ghost pokemon, they are mischievious but also very careful. They do not want to attract attention and want to do their move as fast and silent as possible. Fairies/light is just the general opposite and just doesn't want to harm other pokemon in the first place. They also want to be kind.

Dark and Poison BOTH relate to Fairy/Light type. Period.

Finally, everybody who gives crap about names is being stupid. These changes are here to bring more dynamics and probably to reduce the sheer amount of "Normal" type pokemons. I, for one, welcome, with open arms, this change.

#211337 which one should I choose?

Posted by Lebon14 on 26 May 2013 - 01:48 AM in The Café

The second one, add a Windows 7 licence, because Windows 8 sucks, and switch the i5 for an i7 3770. Should be compatible without changing the motherboard. Even without the i7, this is a cool machine. 675 pounds... seem very underpriced for what it is. The i5 is like 250$ alone (~165 pounds). The graphic card is like 350$ (~231 pounds). The SSD is also non-negligible too price-wise. I don't even know how they sell tha the prce it is... :\ I know if I would build such a machine I would be aiming for ~1250-1500$ minimum (825-1000 pounds). Even more. Or maybe they DO ACTUALLY convert from US$ to £; unlike the euro.

Personally, that would the best of the best if you would be willing to pay for it:

Intel Core i7 3770

(insert brand name here) 16GB DDR3 @ (insert speed here)

(insert brand) H60 Watercooler (AND WATERCOOLED TOO AT 670 pounds?!?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?)

Gigabyte H77M

(Insert brand) 120GB SSD

(Insert brand) 1TB HDD @ (Insert speed)

Windows 7 Pro (instead of Windwos 8)

EVGA nVidia GTX 670 FTW Signature 2

By the way, what pictures?!

#211334 Is the wii u THAT underpowered?

Posted by Lebon14 on 26 May 2013 - 01:24 AM in Wii U Hardware

The WiiU isn't as underpowered as the haters might make it seem. Is it underpowered? Yes. But FAR from as much as the Wii was to the PS360 combo. I think that those screens shows it. W101 is not a launch game but isn't a game that is far into the console's life either and Knack, whatever that game is, doesn't even look graphically better, is it? I see them both on par.

#211330 What Nintendo OS now needs to do to compete

Posted by Lebon14 on 26 May 2013 - 01:19 AM in Wii U Hardware

By prediction mode i mean having the WiiU take notes of the games you buy and offer suggestions of other games you may enjoy (without being too in your face). It's already available in all sorts of different platforms, the PS4 has especially made a big fuss about implementing it into their system, but this is definitely not a must have feature.

Whoops, i meant to say pre-installed software, a small minigame or something mildly entertaining for those that bought the system but are yet to get games. Game and Wario was meant to be a preinstalled game but the developers decided they had too many ideas that they wanted to implement, thus they decided to make it a retail game.

Nintendo should at least give developers a manuel on how to code on the WiiU since so many devs are finding it a little difficult to learn to work with this new architecture (mainly because their lazy, but a helping hand would be good, Nintendo can be there to help everyone at once).

Oh OK, I see what you mean now by "Prediction Mode". Of course, I would agree with such feature. That could give light to not-so-well-known games that needs more respect instead of always being the big guys standing out.

That kind of pre-installed software. That's an added bonus and it's all cool. What I would agree with, in WiiU's future is that Nintendo could pre-install what was before retail games. For exemple, New Super Mario Bros U. It give an added value to the console and, hopefully, at no additional cost.

#210244 What Nintendo OS now needs to do to compete

Posted by Lebon14 on 22 May 2013 - 09:08 PM in Wii U Hardware

@Penguin101

1) I disagree. If people are getting lazier and lazier... I think they should AT LEAST do an effort into pressing the power button of the console. Or on the gamepad for U's case. Vocal commands in this situation is just lazy.

2) Face recognition is hit and miss like you said. If people stopped being lazy and don't use the same password, or at least have an inventory of them, AND put an effort into making a good password, there would be next to need for facial recognition.

3) I agree with this. If the system indeed use an SSD as storage even if it's on SATA2 there are NO reason to have a slow OS. They did an amazing effort with April's update. However, it isn't as fast as it could be and I agree. Accessing a menu and getting out of one should be next to instant. This is 2013, not 1985.

4.1) Wasn't that done already?

4.2) WiiU is underpowered for that. At least, right now, we have a way of retrieving screenshots from Miiverse. As for cloud, I don't think that's possible either. Recording a video needs an amazing amount of computing power. It even brings gaming PCs to a crawl (i.e 120+ fps -> 30fps, which creates lag). If you upload directly to cloud, well, you need this one heck of upload speed to sustain the recording without lag. And over Wifi? Good luck~~

5) I agree but at the same time I don't. You need to keep your own thing but at the same time, you need to be proactive with the gaming industry. Not only indies but also big third-party players and see what they want. Of course, stuff like EA wanting to invade Nintendo's console with Oricrap, needs to be countered.

1-New layout, should take notes of 360 OS

2-Be able to add small widgets

eg. Stick notes, clocks, weather updates, news reports, quick twitter/facebook messenger.

3-Video sharing would be great but it isn't necessary, especially if it chugs the OS.

4-Prediction mode wouldn't be a hard thing to add

5-Improved internet data speeds for both wireless and Lan adapter

6-Perhaps a reinstalled game?

7-Simplified code would be great

8-Secret Nintendo easter eggs

eg. Ability to play Donkey Kong, Zork, etc.

9-Easy Facebook and twitter app that doesn't deviate to much from original format in order to reduce having a confusing layout.

1) i.e. taking notes of Windows 8. NO THANKS.

2) they are always nice to have. Usually, somebody would prefer a computer for that though. My poinion though.

3) Video, in this context of underpower, is not feasible. Nice maybe, but not possible with what we have right now. See above.

4) I don't know what you mean by "Prediction mode".

5) Yes. Why is the WiiU unable to achieve 30Mbits on Wifi when a laptop is able to? That is a bug that needs to be addressed.

5a) Include an Ethernet port off the bat without a need for adapter.

6) what?

7) You mean optimizing code, right? if so, yes, it needs to. ALWAYS.

8) Knowing Nintendo, they would never do that from the OS but more inclined to make you pay for it.

9) I answer that in the widgets

Honestly, next time Nintendo should outsource and get Linux. Be so much better.

I agree! Get the latest kernel and start working around it instead of starting from scratch!
