#224232 They need to fix their dlc/store IMO.

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 02:54 PM in Wii U Hardware

1 was preorders in general using that as example. Replace it with Injustice and the point remains

2 fair enough

3 fair enough

I was just wondering why games from multiple publishers "Activision" "EA" "WB" and possibliy others are not using dlc hosting.

I'm pretty sure there have been games that have had DLC on the Wii U, I haven't checked for myself though.

Injustice is an interesting case, they said there was an issue they were having with submitting the DLC to Nintendo, so it got pushed back to the summer.

1. Amazon has confirmed that Deathstroke DLC will be available day one for the Wii U version of Arkham Origins.

2. Nintendo has allowed publishers to set price and availability of their content on the eShop.

3. Activision's lack of support for the Wii U version of the game was Activision's decision, not Nintendo's. Furthermore, it had nothing to do with eShop restrictions, policies, etc, which are actually very relaxed compared to both MS and Sony (see 2).

#224099 COD: Ghosts Officially Confirmed for Wii U

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 11:34 AM in Wii U Games and Software

You are right. In fact, the official Call of Duty website makes no mention of a Wii U port anywhere, which could be telling since they already have forum and pre-order sections for the Xbox360, XboxOne, PS3, PS4, and the PC. Looking back at the source of this topic's article, it may be too soon to categorize a Wii U release of Call of Duty: Ghosts as "official."

No, they've said it's coming, e3insider even posted it on their site, but it was removed shortly after it made the news rounds.  IW and Nintendo are intentionally holding it back, for what reason your guess is as good as mine.  I only hope that there is a Direct coming in the short term with an official announcement or they announce bundles or something.

Gamestop still isn't accepting preorders.  The sales guy tried to tell me he was at e3 and ghosts wasn't there.  I told him it was during a closed door panel for press only.  They need to officially officially announce this thing now.  We all know its coming, why keep everyone in the dark?

#224049 DKC: Tropical Freeze

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 09:26 AM in Wii U Games and Software

:(

I cant speak for everyone else, but thats exactly the reason im dissapointed with another dkc.

I just dont, and never have, cared for donkey kong country.

It looked like a great platformer, and certainly a great looking platformer, but for me, adventure games are always tiers above level based platformers.

If mario plays second fiddle to metroid and zelda for me, then yeah, dk is going to be even further down the list. Its not even really about franchises, its about genres.

Which leads to where we are now.

The developer responsible for the games of the highest calibur of our favourite genre, a severly under utilized, anemic, gameless, poor, starving genre devs dont like trying in the current risk adverse industry because its so hard to make right....

Is now another drop in the vast ocean of an oversaturated genre, we dont even really care about.

Its not just a single game in a franchise for us.

For us, a single entry for this genre, is practically THE ENTIRE GENRE at that point in time for us. Our games that we enjoy are just that rare.

100% agreed.  I don't mind them working on a DKC game, more power to them.  However this is a franchise I've never been very interested in.

I, along with many other people, wanted to see something more adventurous on Nintendo's part.  We wanted them to take a risk with a new IP, or revive a genre that gets so little attention it borders on criminal.

#224033 Nintendo accepts blame for poor Wii U sales

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 08:43 AM in Wii U Hardware

He does answer to the board of directors, and the consumer buying the product is what the board of directors use to evaluate Mr. Iwata's performance.  Nintendo's earnings for the past few years have been historic lows for Nintendo, they wont sit idle forever waiting for Iwata's master plan to come together.  The consumer ultimately dictates the success of any company, so in an indirect way, he actually does have to care what the consumer thinks.  I already own a Wii U with over 10 games, so he doesnt need to convince me that the Wii U is a good product, but the mass market just doesnt see it yet.  He has to come up with a way to convince the mass audience that the Wii U is a product worth purchasing.  Thats why I think its somewhat irrelevant what Sony and Microsoft are doing, the Wii U and PS4 are far from being interchangable products.  They offer very different products and software offerings, so just because you own a PS4 doesnt mean that the Wii U doesnt appeal to you, the software offering on the Wii U could easily justify the purchase of another console, especially as the price of hardware comes down.

Correct, but he doesn't detail his plans to the public, he details his plans to the board.  Ultimately people buying the product is what is going to save his job, but what he intends to do, every minute detail, is definitely going to be spelled out to them though we have to wait and let it happen.

#223979 The lego movie

Well there's me so that's one lol :P I really find it cool how it is in stop motion instead of it being animated! Interesting! :P

I like that as well.  It could be CGI set to look like stop motion though.

#223972 Nintendo accepts blame for poor Wii U sales

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 06:34 AM in Wii U Hardware

Iwatta, keeps making the same bloody mistakes over and over again and I'm sick of bieng promised by him things that don't happen, fire him, nuff said.

What has he promised that hasn't happened?

The issues comes from the fact that he isnt full of anwers either.  What are you doing to correct this Mr. Iwata?  Thats the problem when your the CEO, you cant look around and say I dont know what to do, your the top guy, you paid the big bucks to have the answers.  Sony is already marketing the PS4, I watched a commercial the other night on TV, and Nintendo has very little TV advertisments for the Wii U.  I still feel that marketing is the Wii U's biggest hurdle right now.

He doesn't answer, ultimately, to you, or any other consumer.  He answers to the board of directors, and you can rest assured that he is providing them with what he plans to do, even if we have to wait as the plan unfolds.

#223967 FF XV is running on DX11

Posted by routerbad on 19 June 2013 - 06:22 AM in General Gaming

"Now, though, we're developing on DirectX 11, not based on the PS4 or the Xbox One. This lets us develop full-spec without worrying about individual platforms, then port it to each console in the most appropriate way. As a result, the original Final Fantasy XV runs on a pretty high-spec PC, and how close a console gets to this original depends on its specs." - Tetsuya Nomura

http://www.ign.com/a...inal-fantasy-xv

So they are scaling it down for PS4 and Xbone, and a "full version" may come in the future for hardware capable? Then why no goddamn Wii U version?! Either they're full of rainbow or it's the slow sales of Wii U that does it, but with that logic how can they support PS4 and Xbone which have 0 sales yet since they aren't out yet except for some few preorders maybe if that counts.

This proves more fully that DX11 has nothing to do with it not coming to the Wii U.  They just don't want to do it, or Microsoft's money smelled sweeter.

This means they are developing the engine on PC with DX11, they'll port the engine to each of the platforms based on the environment there.  Nothing technically is holding them back from Wii U, except themselves.

#223795 Where the hell are their NFC and dual gamepad games?

Posted by routerbad on 18 June 2013 - 07:50 PM in Wii U Hardware

Well yeah, but we're just wondering if any games use the NFC feature.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that yes, they put NFC in the controller for a reason and will eventually use it.  They either don't have a game yet that does or we're not ready to announce one if they do.

Infinity and Giants both use NFC but come with their own bases even in the WiiU versions.

#223709 To the Nintendo Fans Complaining About 3D Land and Tropical Freeze (Video)

Posted by routerbad on 18 June 2013 - 03:47 PM in Wii U Games and Software

donkey kong country is 2.5 D, Mario 3Dworld is 3Din 2.5 you can move along an x and y axis, but the environment is 3 demensional, with a z axis, like in DKCR. In 3D world you can move along the x, y, and z axis, making it a 3D game.

You can move left to right (1D) Up and Down (2nd D) and in and out (3D)  You are moving along all three axis. 2.5D refers to 2D movement with simulated depth and 3 dimensional models.

#223696 To the Nintendo Fans Complaining About 3D Land and Tropical Freeze (Video)

Posted by routerbad on 18 June 2013 - 03:26 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I kinda agree with YoshiWiiUGamer9, I love 3D Mario's and 2D Mario's, and I think 3D world will be a good game. My problem with it is that I was expecting a more open game with stars and huge levels from the new "3D Mario", like Galaxy, Sunshine and 64. Also hate the fact that they took the concept from 3D Land and not doing something new and it makes me worry if they are getting sloppy and rushing Mario games. I'll reserve my judgement until the game is out and I actually play it though.

I though New Super Mario Bros was to bring retro Mario back, and the 3D series to innovate/do something new. 3D Land was awesome because it was a handheld game and I think I would be more positive to 3D World if it was a sequel for the 3DS.

Nintendo get the short 2.5d linear flagpole levels out of my Console 3d Mario!

Mario is becoming the 2D COD.

2D:
New Super Mario Bros - 2006
New Super Mario Bros Wii - 2009

New Super Mario Bros 2 - 2012

New Super Mario Bros U - 2012

New Super Luigi U - 2013

2.5D:
Super Mario 3D Land - 2011
Super Mario 3D World - 2013

That's seven games in 7 years, and I didn't count the galaxy games either. Which came in 2007 and 2010. Nintendo WTH happened to once per System?

They are coming more and more frequently, I just hope we don't see 3-4 2d and/or 2.5d Mario Game's/DLC in 2014 :S

The star burst was the flagpole of the galaxy series.  It served the same purpose, to end the current platforming sequence and carry you to a new one.  Don't get hung up on the art style, this game looks loads better than galaxy, and it seems to be taking cues from EVERY SINGLE MARIO GAME EVER, not just 3D Land.  This isn't a bad thing.

Also, 3D World won't be 2.5D.  DKCTF is 2.5D.  Just 2D platforming with shifting camera angles.  3D World is a fully fleshed out 3D space that can be explored.

*Walks away*.

(I will edit this post and change it in 19 minutes and see what I think of it lol XD)

He forgot the fact that it's linear, why do people keep saying this game is "good"?!

We don't know that its linear, as he mentioned, we have yet to actually see the overworld.

#223556 Lack of DirectX 11 support blocking Kingdom Hearts III from Wii U

Posted by routerbad on 18 June 2013 - 12:43 PM in Wii U Games and Software

As has been said before, PS4 is not using DX11 either.  However, both PS4 and Wii U's GPUs are capable of DirectX11 equivalents found in OpenGL.

Aside from that, the whole argument is a red herring.  Even if Wii U was only capable of DX10 equivalents, it wouldn't matter, none of the engines being created for these games require this API or that.  They adapt game engines to the environment they are developing for.  As they are adapting the PS4 version of the engine to be compatible with that platform, and vice versa.  If this was a legitimate excuse, we would have never seen any multiplat on PS3.

This is a tactic being employed to discredit the Wii U as a platform, because everyone now knows that Wii U is more than capable of running all of the same engines that the other platforms will be running, thanks to companies like Crytech and EPIC, they are now trying to confuse people with talk of DX 11 like the PS4 is actually using it.  Shameless.

As far as why they actually aren't bringing it to Wii U, I know that if I were Sony I would not want to have to compete sales wise with the Wii U with regard to KH3, and if I were Microsoft, I would pay anything to have it on XBOX if only to say "here's our commitment to Japan".  Between the two of those companies, if it released on the Wii U the Wii U version would decimate them in sales.  Nintendo fans are already partial to KH.

Another reason could be, seeing as Nintendo still seem to be figuring out how to use their new system, that the tools still aren't mature enough to enable the use of DX11 equivalents.  This can also be seen through Unity, and they said in candid conversation that Wii U Unity will scale to DX11 equivalents, but it isn't there yet, Nintendo is already employing rendering techniques that were first seen in DX11 and it's equivalent OpenGL version (they are hard to follow).

So Nintendo has some catching up to do with regard to fully realizing the potential of their own system, and developing the tools to help developers, but there is literally no valid excuse for passing up the Wii U with KH3.  Custom GPU or no, their decision was made purely due to their unwillingness to develop to custom logic, which is lazy, and will cost them sales in the long run.

#223493 Where the hell are their NFC and dual gamepad games?

Posted by routerbad on 18 June 2013 - 11:15 AM in Wii U Hardware

That's what I would think. Or Disney Infinity. The system was made for those.

They don't though, they come with their own bases.

Here's the thing.  Nintendo obviously held back on a lot of things at e3, because their mission going in, along with alternate plans based on what Sony and MS were doing, was to show gameplay.  Not bullshots, not pure CG reels, not conceptual stuff.  Just gameplay.  That is what they did.  They showed us every game that they have that they were comfortable showing a lot of gameplay, and games that they were comfortable with being played on the showfloor.  The only game that wasn't on the show floor was X.

There was no Yarn Yoshi, no SMTxFE, no talk of updates, no talk of hardware, no talk of gamepad, none of that.  They said it was all about the games, and they told the truth 100%.

They also denied that there would be a 3DS price drop.  Take that as you will.
