#9906 What graphics processor will the Wii U have?

Posted by WeeYou on 21 June 2011 - 03:49 PM in Wii U Hardware

Although I have a limited understanding of all this technical stuff, I hope nintendo puts in the best graphics processor they can while still making a profit like they like to.

#9905 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 21 June 2011 - 03:47 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I also think (a la multiplayer from 64) that on-foot missions could work... there is no real reason that they couldn't. It all depends on presentation, and something unique and compelling about that aspect of the game. There should be a kind of fun that you can have on foot that is totally unique to that mode of play - a control or gameplay dynamic that makes those missions more than just a break of pace.

Yeah, even though it's not classic starfox, I am in now way in opposition to adding on foot missions to a star fox game as long as they are executed as well as flying in the arwing.

#9844 Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D

This could very well be my first 3DS game purchase since I bought Street Fighter at launch.

#9840 PS4: the weakest console next gen?

Posted by WeeYou on 21 June 2011 - 10:33 AM in General Gaming

Graphics were the biggest thing PS3 had going for it. If the PS4's graphics are barely better, and they're going to be making games about sewing and cooking, than they could be bottom dwellers again next gen.

#9792 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 21 June 2011 - 08:07 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Star Fox does seem like a game that would benefit from the Wii U's HD graphics, so I'd say there's a good chance it'll make its way onto the new console.

I sure hope so. Flying through space in HD would be pretty sweet.

#9790 The mysterious HDMI port...

Posted by WeeYou on 21 June 2011 - 08:04 AM in Wii U Hardware

It doesn't really make sense. HDMI ports on devices like phones are used to transfer the screen on the phone to the tv or vice versa. Seeing as how the controller already does this wirelessly, who knows what it's for.

#9681 Wii U Graphical Demo in case you missed it.

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 06:22 PM in Wii U Hardware

Let's keep in mind that the whole 10% thing isn't some exact figure. It was just Reggie saying there's a lot more to look forward to. It's not like there's 90% more console to show...unless...unless...unless the ACTUAL WiiU is 10 WiiUs stacked on top of each other in a tower for maximum computing power! :D

#9662 Wii U is not 50 % more powerful?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 05:06 PM in Wii U Hardware

Im not sure if that is a overestimate if you compare the xbox to modern computers.

True, although I can't say I've ever had a computer that was even CLOSE to top of the line. :D

#9659 Wii U competition sooner then expected?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 04:51 PM in Wii U Hardware

Ya, me too...

We seem to agree on a lot of things! lol

Yeah, if a few dollars a month are what it takes to provide a quality online service than count me in, again (I've been happy with xbox live, worth the money).

#9658 Will Wii U Change the "Hardcore" Opinion?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 04:48 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think this ^ is obvious, and I totally get your point. I know that "hardcore" is a term that tends to provoke flames, but there is SOMETHING to the pervasiveness of the view that Nintendo is not hard core - meaning, at least to some extent, that the perception is that Nintendo is not listening to those that consider themselves to be dedicated, intense gamers.

Certainly, you can play (almost) any game obsessively... I think the real question is, what does the demographic that buys the most games and logs the most hours WANT to play, and is Nintendo making that kind of game?

Every time I pick up a Nintendo title, I LOVE my experience. But sometimes I don't WANT to play those games... it's just a shift of aesthetic taste and thematic preference, really, but nonetheless, I am the kind of consumer that will drop $100 a month on games and online connectivity. I want a company to make games that I want to play... not just games that they want to make.

Very well put. When talking about hardcore in the context of video games, a Websters definition wont cut it. Nobody spends a 7 hour gaming marathon playing wii sports.

#9657 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 04:44 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I had heard that Assault was more "starfox-like". Adventures sure wasn't. They just threw fox into an action game with dinosaurs and called it Starfox.

#9656 Wii U controller concept

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 04:41 PM in Wii U Hardware

It does. No worries. The battery is also removable, by the way.

Sweet, so it sounds like you'll be able to charge while playing even.

#9655 Wii U is not 50 % more powerful?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 04:37 PM in Wii U Hardware

Most current information and rumors from developers telling IGN that Radeon HD 4850 was the closest commercially available GPU, the rumors of R700 series GPU, specifically RV700 core, and Power7 based CPU all point to Wii U being at least about four times as powerful as Xbox 360. I certainly wouldn't call it next gen, but it should be able to pull off anything current PC games have accomplished and perhaps a little more with optimized code.

A super powered Nintendo console? Count me in. Although 4 times as powerful sounds like an overestimate.

#9546 Wii U competition sooner then expected?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 09:04 AM in Wii U Hardware

It depends on what you want. Do you want to pay a wad of cash for online to be able to play with a bunch of 13 year olds who trash talk, and play games that are generic, or do you want to play a console that will undoubtedly be an innovative success and has games made by the big N? I don't think there will be much of a problem with competition.

To be honest, I'd pay a fat stack of cash for Xboxlive if the WiiU's online is crap, 13 year olds or no 13 year olds.

#9545 Weird Gaming Habit?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 09:00 AM in General Gaming

I had a friend who if you said to him "the ending of the book doesn't make sense unless you've read the whole thing," than he would read the last chapter first. :D

#9543 So, now that the graphics in this console are improved, will there be Music/S...

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 08:56 AM in Wii U Hardware

Any improvements in the sound department would be welcome, but in my opinion, the sound quality on the Wii was fine, so I wouldn't consider sound to be something that needs to be improved.

Besides the McDonald's toy quality speaker in the Wiimote. I really hope the built-in speaker for the WiiU controller (there is one correct?) has much higher quality with more clarity and less crackle.

#9541 Wii U Microphone

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 08:54 AM in Wii U Hardware

Well now Mass Effect 3 on the Xbox 360 uses Kinect to tell your teammates where to go and the Mass Effect 3 creator said he can imagine all the cool things that the new controller for Mass Effect 3 and that he'll announce something later, probably Mass Effect 3 on the Wii U. Then they could use the built in microphone to mimic Kinect's microphone. Also in the Ghost Recon Online trailer they were using voice chat without headsets so I's say it's pretty much confirmed.

Mass Effect 3 on the WiiU? I'd kill to play that. Imagine having the power wheel always up on the touch screen so it wouldn't have to interrupt the flow of battle. But unless the WiiU version comes out almost right after the 360 version, there is no way I could wait for it. I need my epic finale now! :D

#9537 Wii U is not 50 % more powerful?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 08:50 AM in Wii U Hardware

We can only hope that not only is the hardware inside more powerful, but that developers also try and take full advantage of the hardware. Granted, the Wii was the weakest console of this generation, but most games didn't bother to push the system to its limits.

#9534 SSB4 Final Smash IDEA just for fun

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 08:47 AM in Wii U Games and Software

it would be cool if you can combine a final smash with your partner if your playing in teams to make the final smash powerful!

That would be totally awesome. But if the new smash has say 50 characters, there would be 2500 (..I think) smash combinations. Talk about a lot of work!

#9532 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 20 June 2011 - 08:43 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Did you play Assault?

No, from the sound of it, it also suffered from lackluster on foot missions though.

#9303 StarFox Assault 2 Could It Happen?

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 04:14 PM in Wii U Games and Software

Man, I'm just glad there's some fan interest in the series... tbh, I didn't play assault or adventures. the one in my mind is 64, and I just like the series in general.

I must have played through Starfox64 almost 100 times. I suffered through 1 playthrough of adventures. The one for the DS wasn't half bad though.

#9296 So many of us new people

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:59 PM in The Café

I was part of the big migration. To be honest, I didn't know this forum existed until it was linked on 3DS forums.

#9294 SSB4 Final Smash IDEA just for fun

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:21 PM in Wii U Games and Software

VERY NICE! I can tell you put some thought into this one! (:P)

I like the balance you included in each move so neither would be TOO overwhelming.

I think it's important for final smashes to either:
A. Be avoidable in some fashion
OR
B. Require some amount of skill or planning to be used effectively

In Brawl, they did a pretty good job of those two things.

#9293 PS4 long way off

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:17 PM in General Gaming

Will the WiiU get a sales boost by coming out at least a year before the other next gen consoles? I guess that would involve "on the fence" gamers jumping on the WiiU bandwagon because they can't wait another year.

#9292 Scariest game

Posted by WeeYou on 19 June 2011 - 03:15 PM in General Gaming

RE4 was pretty scary the first time through. Not being able to move while you shoot a horde of zombies in front of you when suddenly you're grabbed from behind by a zombie that somehow got behind you.
