#306263 Xbone update improves esram performance

Posted by Socalmuscle on 01 January 2015 - 04:38 AM

When does Xbone and PS4 get updated to allow colors in games? lol just teasing.

Pretty interesting though. Dropping the Kinect freed up some resources and now this, I am curious to see what additional benefit this might bring.

It will help with everything a little.

But the real benefits will be seen when dx12 is available.

#305932 “Eternal Darkness” Trademark Extension Granted to Nintendo

Posted by Socalmuscle on 24 December 2014 - 01:14 AM

They better get on it, or atleast picked up "Shadow of the Eternals" and get that going. Or maybe it should stay as only a spiritual sucessor.

That thing needs to die.

It's a GameCube quality game and shudderingly uses original GameCube assets.

It's only chance of showers chess was with early wii u hype.

And the game is now something that would lose a lot of money.

It looks... Dated.

Best released on iPhone if it ever comes out.

#304220 What Was Your 1st FPS Game and Favorite and WHY?

Posted by Socalmuscle on 01 December 2014 - 05:01 PM

When I learned to build my first PC (the first computer I ever owned), bought a gfx card with a game bundled in called ... UNREAL.

Aptly titled.

The graphics were far ahead of its time. And this was a while after it came out originally.

I was so spoiled by the visuals, that I thought something was wrong with half life and never got into Quake.

Eventually I sat down with Half Life

As a poor college student, I didn't really have money, so I either bought two or three year old games or I was given them by friends who were played out.

It turned out that as much as I enjoyed Unreal's visuals, Half-Life was by far the better game. And it looked pretty good at the time. A bit less texture heavy and effects not as abundant. But good.

As the years went by and I was exposed to more and more games, became more fluent in computer hardware, and had real money to spend, I began to appreciate how great the original half life was.

For the technology of its day and the time it existed in with few pioneers before it, I'd have to say it was the best fps I've played.

Certainly others now are superior. But they had Half Life and others to build upon.

Hopefully Valve gets around to making a Half Life 3 sometime soonish. 2 was ok. But didn't really outdo the first outside of audio/visual spectacle (though the gravity gun was pretty dang cool).

Also, perhaps because of nostalgia... I do hope a proper Unreal game comes out that doesn't limit itself to a glorified tech demo.

#304049 Batman Arkham Knight - New Video

Posted by Socalmuscle on 27 November 2014 - 10:56 PM

What I meant by goal is you get nothing from the fight in batman. You just move on. You don't benefit. An RPG you gain experience and gold to make yourself stronger. RPG is long term goal. Batman it's just to get to the next fight.

Actually it even more than leveling up in an RPG.

Anyone who's played these games knows that while there are some fights you can pick just for the heck of it, most often, you fight to progress the story, to pick up clues, and to gain experience which unlocks items (similar to leveling up in an rpg).

You are simply incorrect.

#303902 Batman Arkham Knight - New Video

Take away the production values and you realize this game has no substance. It's all style.

Uh...

I can only imagine you've never played these.

Arkham asylum was a revolution. It INTRODUCED some mechanics and gameplay that stunned the industry. In fact, many new games incorporate methods from this Arkham series. And it actually works out in those games' favor.

Superhero games had always been lame. Then this comes along and is game first, superhero second... All the while fully respecting it's source material.

And it was lots of fun. High production values? Heck yes! But a good game and high production values aren't mutually exclusive. This game was fun.

Then came City. Took s different approach and was also a great and fun game with a larger scope than the original.

Now, you'd be excused if the only game you played was Origins. It wasn't developed by the same team Snd was just not quite the stellar masterpiece the first two were (though Origibs was a pretty good game on its own).

Arkham knight  has got to be one of the absolute biggest, most anticipated games ever. And the introduction of the Batmobile is only going to add depth and options. The game already looks the best out of any new gane visually and it was supposed to be out this year. The fact that it was pushed back only means good things.

Personally, I cannot wait.

#302275 Next WiiU System Update

Posted by Socalmuscle on 07 November 2014 - 07:55 PM

I just wish I could message my friends from the FRIENDS list. Please!

Hahaha

I know. That would be the LOGICAL thing.

When I first got my Wii U, all I could think was "who got paid to think this one through?"

#300857 Let's discuss my idea (a gaming tablet)...

Posted by Socalmuscle on 22 October 2014 - 10:18 PM

For a brief overview, I wanted to start a computer shop and had the idea turned down by Kickstarter and couldn't get it near fully funded on Indiegogo. A rejection letter from Kickstarter gave me the idea of starting not a computer business, but a gaming tablet with custom made games for it.

I figure my best chances possible are on Kickstarter, to get this gaming tablet funded. However, they have rejected me a whopping 6 times over 2 projects. It started out they would give me vague explanations of how my project didn't follow the rules. I followed every suggestion and every time I ended up following one of their rules to the T, they proposed that my project was breaking one of their other vague, unwritten rules afterward and rejected the project anyway. I have been rejected for reasons such as "Cannot pay another manufacturer to create your product, have to do it from scratch" and "Your business has to create something, that creates or shares something, in one of our categories" and "You must show your work".

While some might also sympathize with Kickstarter's rules, remember if I was AAA and had a good work relationship with them, they would probably completely overlook it.

Oh and Sorcerer, I'm still going to give you something special over that $50. I won't forget you when I'm famous.

I'm going to be honest. I looked up your kickstarted and wanted to help. But it didn't seem like there was enough of a plan to get going and /or to actually SUSTAIN a business once it was running.

I think you had a wonderful dream and that's what the funding page sounded like. A dream.

Dreams are great. Without them, we wouldn't have the motive to pursue and achieve them.

By all means dream and dream big.

But remember to lay some serious practical groundwork down as you do. It's hard work. But it worth every hour.

Write a business plan and really work through every thing. Including an exit plan if necessary.

There are a number of wonderful helps on the subject freely available and there is a great resource specifically to help small business entrepreneurs.

I got my start at Devry University where I first heard of this wonderful resource (which most know about by now). If you haven't already please check it out.

I hope to read in the not too distant future that you have a dream that you have achieved.

Don't get caught up in the generic "computer/computer parts store" thing. There are many that beat you to it and it's difficult to make it unless you have a lot of industry connections already.

If you're going to do something, do it to where you have a genuine reason to exist and offer something that stands out. Then when you can, find people with talent who fit your vision And can move you to new heights and bring them onboard. Just be sure to have your business foundation in order to protect yourself from those you bring along who may want to take over now and then. Lol

Also... Regarding a gaming tablet... That's a tough sell to start but more power to you. Why don't you design and have a prototype made? Hire a friend with programming skills to get a prototype running. Even on another tablet. Just as a proof of concept. But be prepared to communicate your vision both to those you sell to and those you want to help build your dream.

Because "computer store" or "gaming tablet..." No.

I think you may have a truly great idea brewing. But you need to communicate it in a way that grabs people. Don't give any secrets away. But sell the dream.

#298630 FAST RACING NEO... first screenshots!

Posted by Socalmuscle on 16 September 2014 - 10:33 AM

Daaaaayyyuuuum!!!!

That looks incredible.

Actually better than I expected.

Of course I notice some blatant repeat textures in ONE area. It's a racing game!

Forza has repeat road textures as well.

I do admit, forza 5 looks insanely good. But I also admit... This looks to have the potential to look every bit as good.

Now... Can we please find a way to clone these guys and have them infiltrate the staff working on ever major Nintendo title. It's ridiculous the miracles they work.

After playing forza 5 and destiny a lot this last weekend, I have to say the wii u is definitely punching "above its weight"

The clarity rivals those.

Obviously, the wii u isn't going to out power or rival those systems, but it can look like it does. Lol

I only noticed one real geometry shortcut and that's in an area you will almost never notice in the game unless you look for it.

#297895 Microsoft is revealing Windows 9 on September 30th

Posted by Socalmuscle on 03 September 2014 - 01:34 PM

i recently got Windows 8. Within a day I was perfectly used to no start menu. People made a huge deal out of nothing.
Now the hand-holding, that's started to tick me the heck off.

This.

I also prefer windows 8.1 to older versions of windows.

It's no big deal.

It looks way better, launches cleaner, and is an all around great OS.

#297658 Pokkén Tournament Announced

Posted by Socalmuscle on 31 August 2014 - 09:27 AM

This latest reveal does look poorly done.

It shows potential and some basic fighting mechanics.

But the animation is extremely choppy and two characters using some goofy fighting moves against sparse backgrounds isn't the most exciting thing...

BUT

It has a way to go yet.

Reserve judgement for later.

There is certainly enough demand and enough funding to make this game everything it needs to be.

Just needs to stay off of other consoles.

Awesome.

#294864 Gaza's Christians and Muslims ironically grow closer in defiance of Israel.

Posted by Socalmuscle on 03 August 2014 - 02:59 AM

Solution to whole problem.

The Muslim group Hamas can stop killing Israeli civilians and stop shelling Israel.

Boom. Problem solved.

What many seem to forget are the lengths Israel goes to minimize deaths. They actually broadcast bomb zones and give people chances to evacuate.

Guess who tells them to stay in the bomb zones? Hamas.

And Israel somehow is the "bad guy"

Guess who willingly gave their land to the Arabs so they'd have a place to love? Israel. And the thanks they get...rockets and whining to get even more land.

Israel wins land In war. And what do they do? Give back. Heck, Texas didn't even do that after winning the Alamo.

People need to quit buying into the media portrayal of the same propaganda over and over.

It's sad when people die. And people die in war. No one should be happy about that. And whether or not Hamas has called it war, it's what they've been perpetrating constantly for years. And the horrific murder of three innocent children just because they were Jewish, was the last straw.

There has been a war.and just because Israel is better at it doesn't make them the bad guy. It makes them the winner. And that's a good thing.

All that has to happen for everything to stop is for Hamas to stop terrorizing Israel, attacking Israeli citizens, and agree to stop.

That's is literally the solution.

If anyone deserves the ire of the world, it is Hamas in this situation.

Ona side note: Also, Christians uniting with Muslims against Israel smells of manipulation and quite possibly lies. Christians know Israel is not the enemy here. Even if they are sadly suffering consequences of a war.

Islam and Christianity are not compatible and Christians know the importance of Israel. Muslim are taught to hate Jews from a young age and a hatred of Christianity often factors in as well. But Christians are taught to love even their enemies, so it should make sense that Christians reach out to those who are hurting regardless of reason.
