Devils Third info came out last week, new video and stuff. August release in Japan.. and I think World Wide?

I thought that video was for the Japanese Wii U owners.

Oh God, let's see how Ninty can top off Sony's conference because Sony's was amazing imo.

they would of been better having the smash stuff, and that mini direct in the e3 presentation.... even if the stuff leaked!

no fatal frame trailer or date? come on... at least gimme a date.

Hell I forgot about FF. And what about Devil's Third?

Well I for one am not mad, I think it's pretty cool of Nintendo to do this.

Shocking I know.

#314719 Grade each conference

Posted by magiciandude on 16 June 2015 - 03:03 PM in E3 2015

Microsoft: A-

Tons of great games shown. Halo 5 looks beautiful. They finally gave creative freedom back to Rare and better late then never! The Sea of Thieves showing looks enticing. Also, the Rare Replay is one of the better deals in gaming I have ever seen! 30 critically acclaimed games from 4-30 years ago, for $30? Also, backwards compatibility announced? That really did me in.  The presentation was boring itself to watch, but man did they bring some surprises. Also, that minecraft hololens showing was insane!

Bethesda: B-

Bethesda had an alright first showing, DOOM looked gorgeous but looked pretty bland combat wise, and the guts and gore are a little too much for me.Dishonered, Hell yeah. Their arena combat game that I have already forgotten the name of looked atrocious, and the saver of the day was certainly Fallout 4, which I will put money on being the best game ever made, and it is releasing right before my birthday.

Sony- B+

Sony brought big guns, but they were underwhelming to me. Shenmue being fanfunded makes me quite sketched out. FF7 remake looks cool but its just that, a remake.  And then there was The Last Guardian, which I had forgotten about since about mid 2010, and wished it had stayed that way. The gameplay looked boring, the character design and environment looks no different then 6 years ago, and the worst part, it isn't even coming to next year.  No Man's Sky looks impressive, but also seems to have absolutely nothing to do in that massive universe but explore cookie cutter planets that change the color of the leaves.  They pretend like what they are doing has never been done before, but I've played the atrocity that was spore and this is clearly a modern take on that game in many ways. However, despite this seemingly negative rant, I was quite impressed with the thing as a whole. Also, Horizon might be the game that forces me into buying a PS4.

Nintendo: F

By far the worst E3 I have ever seen (haven't been at it that long, started in 2010). Starfox looks like it should be on GAMECUBE, and the gyro controls and emphasis on second screen play looks awful. Zelda...... Well if they took the developers that are making this game and had them work on Zelda U I could probably have it by the end of the year, instead of this uninspired second coming of four swords that even takes a backstep and only includes three links. The puppet thing made me uncomfortable, and the constant developer interviews ruined the pacing and felt like filler trying to make up for the little and unsubstantial content they had.  Especially the yarn yoshi lady, i wanted to hit her she was so awful.  Instead of  a true animal crossing we are getting a wierd take on mario party that requires amiibos, so to truly enjoy what little is to be enjoyed you have to pay probably and extra 60 bucks to have four players. I thought this was a Nintendo direct not an EA conference. The only saving grace was mario maker, but by the time they talked about it I was so annoyed and frustrated that I didn't even care how awesome it was, Nintendo had already crapped their pants and even an entire container of febreeze couldn't rid my house of the smell. I have been a die hard Nintendo fan since my toddler days of sitting on my father's lap and watching him play Mario64 and Banjo-Kazooie, but as hard as it is it might be time to keep the fond memories but change my course because I do not like this "transformation" one bit..... Sorry for the rant.

Man, at least you didn't witness Nintendo's E3 2008 like I did, because it was that bad...

#314708 Grade each conference

Posted by magiciandude on 16 June 2015 - 01:35 PM in E3 2015

It's that time of year again where we grade each E3 conference by a company. I'm not going to rate EA, Ubisoft, or Square Enix's conferences as I did not see their conference.

Microsoft:

B

Now technically, I shouldn't rate this as I didn't watch Microsoft's conference, but MS announcements were pretty awesome even if I'm not a huge of fan their games. I gotta give credit where its due.

Bethesda:

C+

I actually don't care for any of the games  they presented (not even Doom), but damn does Fallout 4 look awesome! Never played any of the Fallout games before I'm willing to give this a try.

Sony:

A+

Delivered their A game here. FF7 remake? Check. Shenmue 3? Check. The Last Guardian? Check. Now granted, I was not impressed with TLG's showing, but I loved Uncharted 4's gameplay. Sony mostly focused on games just like Microsoft so that's a huge plus.

Nintendo:

D-

You'd think after that awesome conference last year they would continue to have a successful digital event, right? WRONG! It's like they looked at last year's digital event and thought to themselves "Hmm, now can we not make this digital event nowhere near as good?" This is truly pitiful. If weren't for SF and Zelda 3DS, I would've given this an F without hesitation. Definitely their worst conference since E3 2008 (this is comparable to E3 2003), no contest.

#317846 Future...?

Posted by magiciandude on 01 March 2016 - 11:29 PM in Site News and Feedback

Whatever happens with this site, I just went let you guys know that it's been a real pleasure being with you. Through the laughs, the drama, and the joy of meeting each other. I remember finding this board late 2012 when I grew tired of GameSpot because the community was beginning to decay, killing off unions (user-created boards that could be about anything), and the uninteresting staff they have nowadays. With that awful redesign they did in late 2013, I have even less of a reason to ever go back there. I was member of that site for nearly ten years and a lot has changed in gaming. The Wii U was but an infant at the time I joined and now we're already talking about its successor in four short years..

#314812 Where do we go from here?

Posted by magiciandude on 17 June 2015 - 10:31 AM in Site News and Feedback

I don't know if this is the appropriate place to put it, but there's something that's on my mind. So it seems more and more likely that Nintendo's next platform will be a new console and got me thinking "What happens to this forum then?" If I'm not mistaken, this site was created back before the Wii U was known by its codename "Project Cafe". So what happens when the console is unveiled and eventually released? Do we change the name of the site or must we depart and find a new place?

I think we should call it the Nintendo Café.

Just change all forum categories to reflect the new product. :)

I am sure Mourn will add a few sentences. hehe

Sounds good to me

Yep. Even if we're not the most active forum on the planet, I'd still rather much be here than most other gaming sites.

#316010 Satoru Iwata passed away

Posted by magiciandude on 12 July 2015 - 04:47 PM in General Gaming

I am still shocked about all this. I harped on Iwata time to time when I got frustrated with Nintendo, but deep down, he really cared about gaming.

RIP Iwata, "Leave luck to heaven".

I think we should have a banner dedicated to Iwata.

#314795 Who would buy a Wii U now?

You know, this would have been the perfect opportunity for Nintendo to announce a price cut on the Wii U.

#315063 Skylanders SuperCharged Bowser/Donkey Kong Concept Art

Posted by magiciandude on 19 June 2015 - 05:20 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I think it's pretty great that Nintendo allowed Activision to use their property to boost the 3DS and Wii U sales. I just wish they had done this earlier because I'm worried that Skylanders might fall out of popularity real soon. I hope Nintendo works with Disney next for Disney Infinite. Imagine having Mario crossing with not just Disney characters but also Marvel and Star Wars.

#311115 Legend of Korra Book 4 discussion

Posted by magiciandude on 28 March 2015 - 11:59 PM in The Café

My thoughts are that Book 4 was just as boring as Book 2 and for all the hate Korrasami gets, the spirits deserve it more for ditching Korra when she pleaded them for help. So while everyone in the show are happy about the new spirit portal all I can is "Who gives a ****?". Oh sure, help Korra when she had that PTSD or attack Tonraq when he raided bandits in spirit territory, but when the Avatar asks for help? Disappear like the cowards you are. And speaking of Tonraq, where the hell was he in all of this? We only saw him in the first episode of the Book and a couple of flashbacks but that's it. You'd think Tonraq would be fighting alongside with his daughter just like in the previous book but nope. I can at least understand Desna and Eska being apathetic towards the whole ordeal, but Tonraq? ***** no. Don't even get me started on Kuvira's motivation for being a ******. "Oh I only to protected my nation because my parents abandoned me and that's why I became a mass murderer. Waah." Quite frankly, I don't give a damn about the whole Korrasami controversy, because at that point, I just stopped giving a ***** about the show altogether. I don't care if I get hated for this, but Book 4 was a huge letdown and I wished the series ended at Book 3 because that is the only book in the entire series that came to the quality of the original Avatar series.

In retrospect, the series doesn't hold, not even on its own. Book 1 was okay but was plagued by its awful character development. Book 2, do I even have to explain? Book 3, again, the only book that ever came close to the Avatar series. Book 4, just flat-out boring

Overall rating: 5/10 (would've been a 3/10 if it wasn't for Book 3).

#314778 Iwata acknowledges the reaction of Ninty's Digital Event

Posted by magiciandude on 17 June 2015 - 03:31 AM in E3 2015

It was a letdown but not bad showed some good games. If you want bad Nintendo 2008. There was NO redeeming thing from that.

Like I said in another thread, Nintendo's lackluster event this year was comparable to their boring E3 presentation in 2003 where many of the games shown were already announced before E3, a very disappointing reveal (Pac-Man Vs.), and pushing an unnecessary gimmick (GC-GBA link).

So here's Reggie damage controlling the entire event and denying that Iwata was apologizing for the whole disaster. Just your typical PR bs.

#314700 Iwata acknowledges the reaction of Ninty's Digital Event

Apparently, Iwata has tweeted acknowledging the unfavorable reaction towards the Nintendo Digital Event. This is what he had to say:

Thank you for watching. We take opinions of this year’s Digital Event seriously and will work to better meet your expectations.

Well you damn well better improve next year!

#316831 Who are YOU voting for?

Simon Belmont, but I don't think either he or Snake have much a chance because of the crazy **** going on with Konami. :(

#312651 E3 2015 Nintendo Predictions?

Posted by magiciandude on 06 May 2015 - 08:49 AM in E3 2015

The Smash Ballot doesn't end until October so we won't know the results until then. That said, victory sound files for Ryu (from SF) and Roy (yes that Roy) as well as Ryu's Theme were found on the 3DS version of Smash 4 from the latest patch. So I'm inclined to believe that either will be revealed on E3. Like others have said, I'm not terribly excited about E3 and it's not simply because of the lack of Zelda U (though it certainly doesn't help either), but because E3 itself has been getting lame over the recent years. The obvious exception being Nintendo's conference and its post-conference coverage last year.
