It's 2013, why are we still taking IGN reviews seriously, especially on a niche Nintendo title?

Hopefully some third-party company will make a similar controller to this one at a lower price... That's how I got my Wiimote + Nunchuk for $30 cheaper than the official ones.

I'd be willing to pay for these on two conditions: 1) the price and 2) the length of these missions

What's wrong with bringing the best titles of the N64 library to the VC like they did on the Wii? Bringing back the entire library is not only not practical but mostly useless. It's fine, some people want to replay classics but that's it... Not every game is worth bringing back.

Wow, so not close to what I was expecting... I second Banjo when he says that they should stick to Pokemon.

I just googled "Wii U skins", got lots of results... It's not that difficult.

I don't think it's possible to play TV only but most games will allow off-TV gameplay, either by selecting the off-TV mode on the settings or just turning off the TV

So why weren't Nintendo working on HD years ago to, they knew the next Nintendo console was going to be HD, they have no excuse at all, in fact it is indefensible. 

They thought HDTV's weren't widespread enough to make it worth going HD, it's an honest mistake, no one predicted how quickly HDTV's lowered in price.

I gotta say, the idea of a decent pc that is no maintenance for 7 years sounds awfully tempting...

Especially after a price cut, getting a PS4 for $300 would be such a great deal. I usually wait for the first revision to the hardware, but I don't know if I'll be able to hold out this time... Now I just need software to convince me too.

I would've never even heard about this game if it weren't for this topic. It looks like a painful experience, I hope the reviewer didn't have to go through the entire game. Who even developed and published this? I thought there couldn't be worse than Hydrophobia Prophecy this gen, but I guess I was wrong.

This is actually a pretty funny spin on the Wii U's current bad situation

The only thing putting me off getting one of these things it's the absurd price they ask for them. Although the elgato one seems way better if not only because of it's small size but because it had HDMI ports.

I seriously doubt there will be 3D TVs without glasses for an extremely long time ... This is because of the sweet spot needed and only possible with a hand held due to distance from the device (very short distance), it simply will not work with a TV and the distance you sit from one.

The term Gimmick seems to be thrown around quite a lot these days and carries a negative tone ... There are many that say the Nintendo Wii, the Wii U, and the 3DS are all Gimmicks because of the use of the Wiimote,the Wii U touch pad controller, and 3D effect without glasses.

Call me crazy, but if every system that Nintendo has come out with recently is a Gimmick then I guess I love Gimmicks, especially when it comes to gaming.

Well, until then, you're not convincing me to get a 3D TV. But that's just my opinion.

And yeah, those are all gimmicks but gimmicks can be good. 3D is a gimmick too but imo it's a bad one. I don't enjoy it on movies, I think it's pretty much pointless and I've given up on paying extra every time I go to the movies to see the 3D version. Again, it's just my opinion. I know a lot of people who enjoy it.

The GameCube had an add on that allowed people to play game boy advance games on the tv. Think of this as a program that performs a similar function. The game I still a 3DS game and runs on the 3DS, this just streams to the Wii u and has a texture pack that allows for HD (or at least higher quality visuals). Still a 3DS game, just with a way to continuously sun with the Wii u so you can play on your console while you are home and your 3DS is in range

The 3DS will always be worth owning because it is a portable and I can always keep it with me. I've always gamed a lot more on the portable side than console side.

Well, I thought you meant playing 3DS games like some sort of Virtual console thing. Streaming 3DS games to your TV via Wii U, that makes more sense. 

To not give Pikmin a try because you dislike Strategy games is kind of like saying you won't give ketchup a taste because tomato is a main ingredient. (Not the best metaphor, but the bottle of ketchup in the kitchen was staring at me when I lifted my head to think of one...)

I don't like tomato but I love ketchup and other tomato-based sauces so I guess the metaphor is good and very much applicable 

Although Pikmin is a strategy game, it doesn't feel like one. Buy the second game for the Wii and check it out, if you like it, buy Pikmin 3. 

^ This. I think you should be able to get Pikmin 2 pretty cheap off Ebay, there's like 85% chance you'll like it, I guess.

Imo, 3D is still a gimmick and one that doesn't really work that well yet. The 3D on the 3DS is only impressive because they managed to do it without glasses... and if I was to buy a 3D TV, it would have to be glasses-free too.

I think Nintendo could easily incorporate 3D into the game but it's probably just not on their list of priorities since 3D TV are just not that popular yet. Remember how Nintendo decided to not go HD with the Wii because by that time HDTV's were still not widespread yet?

I don't know how accurate this is, especially considering I'm connected via wifi but I think I have decent enough speeds (most of the time) to think I have a good internet connection. Still, the update must've taken about 2 hours, maybe a bit more. It's okay, I watched TV meanwhile 

You should probably just go ahead and get a deluxe set while you're at it. It's definitely worth the $50 extra. In fact, idk why Nintendo is still selling the basic pack.

You skipped the Wii? How did you survive knowing you were missing out on exclusives like Smash Bros and Zelda?

I skipped the Wii too but now I'm redeeming myself and playing all those exclusives I missed... and hitting myself for being such a fool.

maybe they wouldn't of been in the mess they are with the WiiU if they had gone HD before.

 

i still think it is a none excuse, just makes Nintendo look like idiots coming out saying they found the transition difficult, other devs went HD years ago.

Everyone says that like the other devs didn't have problems too when consoles transitioned to HD a few years ago.

Nintendo has always had issues with third-party devs supporting their home consoles since the GC days. I agree, even if the sales pick up, most devs still won't bother supporting it, either because the architecture is different and they think it's weaker/more difficult to develop for, or because they're too lazy to integrate gamepad/motion controls on their games or simply because, let's admit, the industry is incredibly biased at this point and most look down at Nintendo as worthy competitor in the home console field.

Hmm definitely not normal. Mine's a black one and never did any noise like that. How long have you had yours for? Is it in a well ventilated place? Does it heat up a lot?

I would rather see them make a way to play 3ds games on the Wii u with a hi res texture pack. You know, like use street pass to somehow have the 3DS stream the Pokemon versions to the Wii u, the Wii u has a program on it that plays the 3ds game in hi res.

What? What 'program'? Because damn, the moment the Wii U starts playing 3DS games than what's the point of owning a 3DS? Nintendo would never do that.

One of the things I really liked about XIII was some of its characters, one of them being Lightning, but I think they're overdoing it by now. FF XIII-2 was a complete drag for me and even if this is a Lightning-centric game, I can't imagine it being that much better either. Just focus on XV, Square.
