#240099 Wonderful 101 IGN review

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 18 August 2013 - 03:01 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I miss Audrey and Rich. They would've given it a 9 or 10. WTF Keza? A game from the Clover team and you give it JUST an 8?!

#240171 Wonderful 101 IGN review

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 18 August 2013 - 09:14 PM in Wii U Games and Software

As quoted from NeoGAF:"Kamiya finally made it-a game that highlights who is capable of playing a horsing game and who isn't"

And it appears Mis(ster?) Keza MacDonald doesn't know how to play a Clover Action Game. Oh boy, I really wanna see her review of Bayo 2. She's basically insulting the hundreds and hundreds of hours Kamiya put into perfecting the game for the f****** graphics and controls. Her review of XenoBlade was the last straw. We really need a new Audrey. Maybe Jose?

She and that blisteredthumbs person gave the game a low score because of the fact they can't handle the difficulty curve of a Clover/Plat game.

#236919 Wii U version of Splinter Cell Blacklist will lack offline co-operative play

Guys. We should support Ubisoft anyways. They're like the only major 3rd Party to support Nintendo in these dark eras. Besides, they added GamePad functionality and supposedly better optimization. If we don't support them, it's gonna be the Wii all over again.

#242157 Wii U Price Cut is effective September 20! Wind Waker launching early dig...

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 28 August 2013 - 07:33 AM in Wii U Games and Software

Kotaku-

Nintendo's home console can be yours for just $299.99 starting September 20, the house of Mario announced today. That's a $50 price cut for a console that's about to get a steady flow of Nintendo-made games but that's been struggling to sell at even half the pace of its predecessor.

The Wii U will sell in two models: the existing black deluxe model bundled with the pretty-good game compilation Nintendo Land or in a new Zelda model. An image of the latter last week.

That Zelda console is black, but its GamePad controller is etched with Zelda-style script The bundle will also include vouchers to download a digital (duh) copy of the Hyrule Historia Zeldalore book and a copy of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

Both consoles include 32GB of on-board flash memory. The system can be connected to self-powered hard-drives for more storage capacity.

"Obviously we want to drive Wii U momentum," Fils-Aime said of the reasoning behind the price drop. "We've been very clear that software is what drives hardware. And we feel very good about the line-up of software for Wii U. Taking the added step to improve the value just reinforces our commitment to make sure that Wii U has a strong holiday this year and is set up to be a strong platform into the future."

The wii u has been struggling to catch on in its first year, a fact Nintendo, to their credit, isn't trying to hide.

"All you need to do is look at the numbers," Fils-Aime said. "At this point in time the Wii install base was beginning to approach three million—this is U.S. numbers—and as we sit here today, the Wii U installed base is at about 1.5 million. So clearly the sales pace is different. But I will also tell you that the focus on making sure that this holiday—its second holiday—is really strong is actually quite consistent with the way we've always thought about our hardware launches."

Nintendo has all but phased out the white 8GB version of the Wii U, a system that retailers seemed to begin dumping this past spring. That "basic" version of Nintendo's console had originally sold for $299, sans pack-in game. "That has largely sold through in the marketplace," Fils-Aime said. "There is not much of that particular configuration out and we don't expect there to be much at all come September 20."

Nintendo has not announced plans to bring a white 32 GB version of the unit to North America.

#213166 Wii U FPS Drop?

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 30 May 2013 - 12:36 AM in Wii U Hardware

4 posts and starts a thread asking why Wii U has framerate drops that are only noticeable with high speed cameras, no, not a troll at all.  If you honestly are not trolling, my apologies.  However, there are literally hundreds of "why wii u performance sucks" threads, and the issues with ports are discussed in pretty much every single hardware thread on the forum.

Also, check my profile or post history before you start trying to call me out on my age, son.  You know what they say about assumptions.

Oh, and

Worst thing is, a lot of these posts were made by the same person, djlewe. Can't we just stop these doom and gloom threads with incorrect spelling, punctuation and all and just wait for what Nintendo has to offer?

#222549 Why people say Wii U is "current gen", and why they're complete d...

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 16 June 2013 - 01:08 AM in Wii U Hardware

Like what Gamer said, Wii U is fine. All we need are some game which are coming out soon. The graphics are no problem at all. Are you blind Syks? The U has comparable graphics.

#225490 why no watchdogs wiiu 360 ps3 footage?

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 23 June 2013 - 07:01 AM in Wii U Games and Software

The Wii U version looks almost like the PS4 one IMO. Underneath the engine, it's just the same game. I'm getting most releases on the Wii U if available since I'm still saving up for a PC in November to replace my medium level laptop.

#265877 Why I think the Wii U will do alright in the UK.

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 10 January 2014 - 04:29 PM in Wii U Hardware

I think the Wii U will do

What annoyed me about the PS4 is how Mark Cerny referred to the console as a supercharged PC when as Nvidia pointed out, the PS4 is a low-end PC. I believe the PS4 will be a great console, but people have really fallen for the whole "PS4 is a supercharged PC", the architecture of the PS4 was already outdated prior to its launch.

When buying the Heathen Boxes this generation always remember that only one of these two words will exist in a game, "1080p" and "60fps steady".

#244667 Why do all the new members leave after a while?

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 07 September 2013 - 02:43 AM in Site News and Feedback

From my short stay here in WUF, my observation is that new members leave after the first few days or don't post after they register. 1 out of 10 become regular posters here. I dunno why but it kinda bothers me.

Meh. Sticking to my WiiU and PC. Not exactly a fan of any of Sony's and MS' exclusives. Aside from KH3, MGSV and FF15, I don't think I have a reason to get "next gen".

Overall, I just don't see the other consoles as a worthy investment when I can get a PC that I can use to do Photoshop, Visual Studio, Vegas and of course, gaming at a competitive price point near them.

In fact, you could get a PC that beats "next-gen" at around $500. Combined with the savings that you get with Steam Sales (Autumn, Summer and Winter), the price in the long run will be considerably cheaper. Just $13 dollars above the entry barrier of the Xbox One can you get a PC functions more than just gaming (CodeBlocks, Blender, Maya, Unity, Photoshop, Premier, CAD, etc.), net you a lot in savings (Humble Bundles, Green Man Gaming and Steam Sales) and last you through for quite some time. Building a PC is just like building LEGO's. In fact, even a 14 year old could put one together from scratch.

#258323 whos getting the ps4 then? :)

Posted by ThePopiPenguin on 29 November 2013 - 10:21 PM in General Gaming

They're practically using tablet CPUs (AMD's answer to the netbook/cellphone Atom but weaker and cheaper.) on the PS4 (2 Quad Core Modules).

Combined with the fact that it uses a stripped down Tahiti/Pitcairn XT GPU (modified and down-clocked to be used for an APU), the build I gave is a little bit higher in the PS4. The PS4 has unified memory and the walled garden specs will help optimization so all in all, they're more or less the same. The PC I linked will play games at settings a little bit higher than the PS4 for years to come. If the PS4 can't run a game on Ultra 6-7 years later, why should the PC? It's meant to be contemporary specced with the PS4 and Xbox One.

For Monitor, You can just use your TV or you can use the Vidiuu Streamer when it's finished.

For OS, Valve and the other software houses are already working on porting games to Linux and Steam OS. Metro Last Light now has a Linux version. So do most Valve and Id games. Mantle will also provide excellent support to Steam OS (Which is free)

Of course, like 3Dude said. exclusive games will always find a bypass to "surpass" the limitations of the system (More Pop-in, Heavy Scripting and Texture Streaming from Disk). However, Mantle will most likely bring the same optimization to PC's (AMD of course).

also, you know, an operating system?

Let's be honest. That system is not going to play the newest games in seven years at 60 fps. Consoles are great because games are developed FOR them. Battlefield 8 will run on a PS4 as well as Battlefield 4 (if it ran well lol) does. Yeah, the graphics will be toned down compared to the newest PC then, but my PC won't be able to run it smoothly on any settings because it won't be developed for older PC's.

Of course it won't at max. The PS4 won't either. The term "optimization" as most console users use it is getting more and more voided due to all of them sharing x86-x64. Combined with Mantle, this generation is probably going to have equal performance from all platforms at the same price point. A PC from 2006 can run games that are also on PS3 albeit at medium-low settings just like it's console contemporaries who run at an optimized low equivalent

The AMD A10-6700 Richland is the apu both ps4 and xbone were based on, they are simply tweaked customized versions of that apu... I remember early dev kits actually using that apu. In fact, if you compare the dieshot of the apu on the link you provided, its near identical to the die shot of the ps4/xbone:

http://www.chipworks...2013/11/041.jpg
(this ones the ps4, just remove almpst half the rows of gcn cores to get the xbone)

The biggest change is they swapped out the 3-4Ghz piledriver desktop cpu cores, with the jaguar 1.6-8 Ghz Jaguar mobile phone/tablet cpu.

Even so, the ps4/xbone are closed systems, that gives them the potential, with exclusive games, to do things seemingly beyond their reach.

The Richland APU's aren't exactly know for their power. Swapping them out for Jaguar only makes it worse. I do however, acknowledge the fact that "optimization works great on closed platforms.

An HTPC would actually be cheaper than an XBone in general, A W Reezy.
