So I recently bought the Zelda edition of the Wii U and it's AWESOME!!! I left the sensor bar in the package as I figured it was the same as the Wii one. I plugged the old sensor bar into the Wii U and it worked. Yay Nintendo!!

Anyway, I went to turn on the Wii and wondered what would happen if I left the sensor bar plugged into the Wii U. (Remember the Wii has NO sensor bar plugged into it.) The Wii picked up the Wiimote flawlessly. I went through all the menus and nothing was out of the ordinary.

The Wii and Wii U are about 4 inches apart. The Wii U is plugged into the TV via HDMI. The wii is plugged into a receiver via RCA then video is ran to the TV via RCA. Has anyone else tried this? How does it work?

I must add the Wiimote was synced to the Wii and not the Wii U.

You know you can use to candles on the side of the tv as a sensor bar.

It's a or thing so no big deal that it works.

The Wiimote is the sensor, not the sensor bar. All the plug into the wii/wii u does is power the bar, not anything to do with the console. That's why you can use candles asxile6 said.
