Why does HD on Youtube usually not look that HD at all? It still looks messy on fullscreen and only decent in really, really high quality videos on normal sized screen.

From what I've noticed, changing the quality to 1080p doesn't do anything until the connection is fast enough to load it. Try skipping half way trough a video after setting it to HD.

Well my connection is pretty crappy here at home. My screen is 900p but sometimes setting it to a higher resolution indeed helps. And what Chrop says makes sense too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK3NuxO3Ke0 this video looks pretty wonderful in HD, and still pretty decent in full screen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m3atzP305o this still looks like 480p, when set to 720p.

What I also noticed is that when watching movies downloaded from Torrents (that say bluray rip, HD tv, 1080p etc.) still look very blurry to me, especially when viewing on my HD tv.

Hope Microsoft isn't representative of what's to come at E3 this year cause nothing, NOTHING got me excited. Tomb Raider looked nice but we barely saw a thing. I missed AC/COD so I'll check those out but won't get my hopes up.

I see. They both look good, but.. too much like we've already seen. I'll pick both up when they get cheaper for sure. I loved AC's setting though, and there were actually more stealth oppurtunities which I like.

To promote hardware sales mostly. And I think it worked cause it sold more on Wii if I remember corectly

I'm getting more and more anxious for E3. The fear of being dissapointed. But while fearing this, I can't be really dissapointed right? I just hope they show some surprising games and not rainbow no one wants like Wii Sport U.

Zelda (or Metroid) is basically the only thing I want but I'm more and more doubting Nintendo will deliver. They seem to be hyping HW up a lot, and for a lot of people it's working, so why reveal Zelda U? But yeah there will be some good games and I have no doubt Nintendo will be the winner of E3 for me.

Don't expect anything, that way you'll be happy that something exciting happens and not disappointed when nothing happens, because you expected nothing anyway.

So I just got a Windows 8 laptop. At first I really liked the app idea, but apps like the music player and skype were way inferior to its desktop version so now I basically use desktop all the time. What are your thoughts on this?

After getting my new laptop (had Windows 8.1) I made any changes I could to have it act like a normal desktop. Really wish they hadn't designed it around tablets so much.

so um a Radeon8670m is good enough for modern games on low settings right? Not looking for a good gaming rig, but it'd be nice to have a laptop that can actually run games.

The human eye sees 24fps, so that's good enough. The screen isn't 1080p so I dont need that either. I'm used to boring console textures too. Sadly I don't think I'll have decent AA. I also don't think I can run Watchdogs and Titanfall.

Soooo do we already know if the "Digital Event" will be live with an audience, or pre-recorded like Directs? I just re-watched E3 2013 Direct and it was pretty boring presentation-wise (not content-wise).

A friend of mine works for Nintendo and he just confirmed Zelda U is indeed being shown at E3 and it will be simply called "The Legend of Zelda", because of its 'reboot' nature (reinventing the nature of the series etc.) More info will follow.

It will reuse some Gamepad functions from WWHD, but from what I understand, the gamepad is not the main focus. Art style will be somewhat between SS and the Tech Demo. It's pretty neutral and I hope most fans will be pleased, but I haven't seen it yet of course.

There we go.... I personally am not worried about the game mechanics as much as i want them to nail the balance of artstyle between anime and realism. The artstyle will make or break this games reception.

Sadly it will. Artstyle in Zelda games has become one of its most important aspects to most fans, especially in 3D games. I don't think Nintendo agrees.

So is a Radeon HD 8670m a decent laptop gpu? I'm already going beyond my original budget for a decent laptop and the only better option is a GeForce GT 750m for 50 euros extra.

if you dont have a gaming pc i suggest you get one because laptops are pretty expensive if you wanna game
if your budget is up to 500 i can give you a great build below 500 that can run crisis 3 at 30 frames on high

My primary use is not gaming. Initially I was looking for a laptop that can run Adobe (and other) tools I use for school properly, and I found plenty within my budget that are sufficient. But gaming is also a nice extra (to play games I normally wouldn't buy on consoles). Low settings are usually good enough for me because that looks like X360/PS3 games.
