In recent years, many of the big names behind famous franchises, have left their big name publishers and the ip's they made famous there, to start new works without publisher interference stifling all creativity and innovation in favor of cookie cutter games.

Square enix had a huge exodus, with the creator of final fantasy and much of the supporting talent behind the best games leaving and creating mistwalker, Many names behind xenogears and chrono trigger leaving and forming monolith soft.

Capcom lost the creators and staff behind resident evil, megaman, devil may cry, viewtiful joe, okami...

But.... The names some of these guys are using... are starting to look like they are 'sticking it to the man'

Xenoblade seemed innocent enough, it was explaind as an homage to the xeno series creator.....

Thn the final fantasy creator sakaguchi named his rpg game, the last story. A word for word synonym of the squeenix owned franchise he started.

Then, recently, shinji mikami, creator of resident evil, who left because of issues he had with publishing management during the re4 dev cycle... Who said not only would he not play re5, but he wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole....

Announced the official name of his survival horror game.

The resident evil creator named his new game, 'the evil within'.

Lets ignore the fact that the evil within already looks like it poos on re5&6 from space....

The evil within, resident evil.

Resident= Existing or inherent (within)

resident evil literally means the evil within.

Is this a message to publishers? A big middlefinger to the man? Or is it a message to us, wondering why our favourite franchises suck now? Are they telling us 'Hey, the real things over here now'.

I have my suspicions. But one thing is for sure. last story and xenoblade destroy any of their recent 'counter parts' of this gen. And the evil within looks to be continuing this tradition.

I think if they're trying to "stick it to the man" as you put it, it's an immature way to do it. If you want to stick it to your old company, then make a quality game better than you did before. Forget about this I'm naming my new game the same as my old game, that'll show them attitude.

Oh, I see.

It's just that the publisher, developer, creator, etc. are Japanese, where resident evil is called biohazard.

Really? You went there? I assume you're living in Japan right now? Or you're Japanese? When I lived in Asia, the Japanese didn't mind me saying Resident Evil. I assume you must be Japanese to care sooo much.

Your face cares.

3dude, the op cares.

A lot of people care.

The question is why are you so angry about it?

Can't take someone poking a hole in someone else's theory?

what I can't take is someone trying to be cutesy while making a point. And angry? uhm, why would i be angry? your just some random chick on the internet.

On point however, your "subtle" point does have a point. ^^

Shinji Mikami is not unaware of what name biohazard was localized under, nor is he unaware of how many mountains more units the resident evil name sells over the biohazard name. He also is not unaware that he is working for bethseda under zenimax, a western publisher.

Its definately deliberate. Or the odds of him coincidentally, accidentally choosing a title with words that mean the exact same thing, is cosmic.

And being that so far, everyone of these games that share names with their former work that has dive bombed at their former company without them, are near unanimously declared magnitudes better than the modern incarnations of the giant franchises.... And evil within looks to be no exception, it looks like they are making a very solid point.

Money doesnt make great games. People do. No matter how many mountains of money you throw at a project, it doesnt make the people working on it better game makers.

So where does Keiji Inafune fit in with all this?

It's a very important question.

He will make Ultra Kid: a 2D platformer done in the style of a SNES game in which you can choose the stage orders and you have to steal the bosses weapon to kill them, and you get to keep it afterwards. It will be for XBLA, PSN for PS3, PS4, and Vita, Wii U and 3DS EShop, IOS, Android, N-Gage, Atari Lynx, Bandai Wonderswan, Sega Genesis via the Sega Channel, and Vectrex.

In order for Crapcom to be Capcom again they must release a new Megaman. As for Squeenix they need to go back to their PSX roots.

Thats what we are talking about, the people who MADE squares snes and then psx roots arent with square anymore.

They are with mistwalker and monolith soft, blowing squeenix out of the water, with much, much, much, much, much, lower budget games.
