Is it possible to increase the size limit for avatars? It would help those who want to use gifs for their avatars without compressing it to the point where you can't tell what it is. I do know that doing this would probably cause lag on the site, especially if everyone is using a gif. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem. I don't know, I guess this is just a suggestion for the future.

I think its possible. All Mourn would have to increase the set avatar size limit.

This would be very helpful, yes it can have a large impact but really what is 100kb more going to do

If you upload using gravatar you don't really have that problem, or at least I never have.

Make a wordpress/Gravatar account, upload it from your computer/or a link on the internet, and it uploads your image on a gallery. You then copy and paste the link, and you should be able to whatever you want. I'm not too keen on Gravitar, my avatar gets cut off, you can't see the the full image.I'm for the avatar size being increased here.

Make a wordpress/Gravatar account, upload it from your computer/or a link on the internet, and it uploads your image on a gallery. You then copy and paste the link, and you should be able to whatever you want. I'm not too keen on Gravitar, my avatar gets cut off, you can't see the the full image.I'm for the avatar size being increased here. 

Yeah, I think increasing avatar size would be easier than that.

I was able to figure out how to change the file size limit, however, I'm not exactly sure what a good number would be.  Typically, I saved my avatars from resized PNGs into JPEGS to get away with it.

maybe 200kbs max? 300? I don't know how much too much would be, but what we have now is kind of small.

300kb should suffice right? i mean that is triple what was previously available, or even 200kb even that is much better then 100kb

 

however i really dont think it should be necessary to make the new limit over 300kb

250KB sounds reasonable imo. 300 sounds overkill.

Its pretty easy actually, you just sign up for the site and you can upload pics to crop and use on a lot of websites.

Learn to compress your images, they're not 5 million pixels wide, they're around 80x80 or 100x100, it shouldn't result in sizes over 100KB unless you have no idea what you're doing.

I know how to compress pictures, but compressing gifs makes them look awful.

Then don't use a gif as your avatar.

You don't need to put a big movie under your name but if you must, 3 or 4 frames would work if you're smart about it.
