all failed to help boost sales, there was a slight bump, but it fell a week afterwards. If Nintendo doesn't have an excellent marketing campaign for Christmas to advertise 3D World, I'm going to begin to worry..  Even the 3DS picked up once Mario Kart and 3D Land came out.

I'm not sure because many of the parents that want to buy a christmaspresent and can't get a ps4 or x1, might look at alternatives....which is even a 100 euro cheaper and has more games too.

Nintendo should have repeated history and released Mario Kart 8 and 3D World back to back.

 

3D world will do wonders for the wii u's sales but will it be enough to carry the entire system on its back? Probably not

Of Course PS4 and X1 will dominate this christmas, but that doesn't mean there isn't any chance of a boost in Wii U sales. As Lupaie said, there are many who will choose the Wii U as an alternative to X1 or PS4 because they couldn't get their hands on them. Besides I know many people who aren't getting X1 or PS4 right now because of the poor launch lineup which proves Nintendo's "quality software sells consoles" statement is true. Just like with the Wii U, the only people buying these consoles at launch are the die hard fans.

 

I have also seen a lot more Wii U adverts from GAME, Toys R Us, and Nintendo themselves in the past few weeks which can only be a good thing.

Advertise, advertise, advertise.

 

They're doing a terrible job for the wii u at the moment for advertising.  I am not seeing a great deal of advertising on tv, but that may be because they're doing it by other means.

Hell, animal crossing new leaf STILL has tv adverts.  I saw one the other day about about Novembers events.

 

That poster is making its round again like it did on release about why you should choose a Wii U and it still lacks one thing. Saying it's a new console.

 

Aggressive marketing is needed and I'm not seeing any of it.

I doubt a couple of small mall events will cut it.

I know a lot of people who want a wiiu as a secondary console and I kinda figure that most buyers are going in thinking that. So even if x1 or ps4 sell really awesome those same buyers might get the wiiu this Christmas and plus the casual will look for the cheapest console which is wiiu.

No idea... they should indeed have mentioned Super Mario 3D World. 

 

However, the Wii U deluxe bundle does have Mario and Luigi U, maybe that's the reason.

3D World will help unless the game stores start acting silly and say that they don't have 3D World while trying to bribe you to buy the Xbox One or PS4.

Hey OP what are you going to worry about if 3D World lifts WiiU sales ?

 

Who cares ?

 

I am going to be pretty blunt, but the WiiU is finished, the third parties have deserted & won't be coming back, WatchDogs will be the last major third party game for the WiiU.

 

Just enjoy your WiiU & the games you have for it.

 

I have had a WiiU since launch here in the UK & most shops have dropped the console & only a couple even bother to stock WiiU games, i have given up on it now, well i did some months back actually, just get over it.

They needed to release games like Donkey Kong, Bayonetta, Smash Bros and Mario Kart much earlier and then have a steady stream of games coming out. Maybe a new Starfox , that new X game , and who knows what else, but when you release a system like the Wii U that people scoff at because it "isn't next gen" and don't back it up with games, then people will ignore it unless they are hardcore Nintendo fans.

 

I bought one because I haven't played a Nintendo system since SNES and wanted some good old school gaming. Im not rushing out to buy the PS4 or Xbone because my PC is still better and there are no must have games out yet for either.
