Sure Melee may have the best combat system but Smashboards acts like Brawl and 4 are pure garbage. I left the Smashboards for that sole purpose.

For the Wii U successor, it is my hope Nintendo goes in an entirely new direction that gets away from fussy gamepad + wii remote + nunchuck + pro controller confusion. One controller. Streamlined.

As for this, nah. Just embrace the present controllers and master them

In other words, I love you

You can only really master gamepad, pro controller or wii pro controller.

Wiimote (in any configuration) is basically only good for a paperweight when it come to smash. :P

I honestly don't see what you can do on a Gamecube controller that you can't do on anything else. I mean, they all have the same buttons (other than Wiimote on its side). What difference does it make beyond the shape and feel of the controller?

I always used Wiimote+nunchuck for brawl, never had any problems with it.

the configuration is extremely important. Also, the wii mote has no c-stick so it's at a HUUUUUGE disadvantage just from that alone. I could tell you a couple at's that are impossible or practically impossible to do with Wii mote.

There's a thread about it somewhere on smashboards, I think I even read it once, but I can't find it.

I never understood the c-stick, I always just charge smash attacks, it makes more sense to me to have them as charged attacks to compliment the rest of the normal, quick attacks.

There is practically no point in a charged smash against humans. And absolutely no point whatsoever against humans who really know how to play.

You dont use smashes for damage building (exceptions like zelda's up smash) but for knockouts, and charging doesnt increase knock back enough to make the broadcasting of 'hey, you know exactly what im stuck in and how to punish me with impunity!'

Csticking also removes the 'click'
wind up and allow the move to strike instantly, and thus recover faster.

It can also be used for tilts for people who have trouble.

Although c-sticking wont be going anywhere, I guess it will just be called right sticking... Though I admit I wont relish the new position of the stick.

Certainly something a smart 3rd party controller company can take advantadge of.

Actually 3Dude I that's not what I know to be true from my experience with smash. Charged smashes might not happen often in competitive play, but (I think) they're generally accepted as the best response to someone over shielding, because the longer you hold your smash, the more damage you threaten to do, so it basically creates a situation that gets more and more intense for you opponent by the second, because the longer they wait to try and move out of the way, the smaller their shield is getting, and the worse the consequences are for them. you also pretty much always come out on top, because at the very least, they should have lost quite a bit of their shield due to waiting, and possibly blocking the charged smash.

The second most common place it probably shows up in a DACUS, and it happens in a couple other minor instances as well where it can be allowed for. Basically, any time it doesn't involve extra risk I think it would be used because every percent counts.

On c-sticking, the ability to smash a teeny bit faster is actually one of  the smallest advantages the c stick provides in my opinion. It leads to a crapload of AT's with different levels of usefulness (ranging from something pretty useless like extreme shift, to something pretty useful like dacus). I think the roll it plays in DI (Directional influence) alone justifies it's necessity in the smash community, considering how important DI is (you can live WAAAAY longer with good DI).

I have never played competitions (never really want to) and only play the games as party games, I always use charge smash attacks.

So basically, they are asking for Nintendo to make a peripheral that allows you to use gamecube controllers instead of them just buying pro controllers. (-__-)

i usualy use the charge ones but ignoor the charge, moving my thumb to the cstick usualy takes the same time as uncharged chargable smash.
