Anyone think X looks a bit worse compared to previous viewings of it?

No, guy. Since you somehow, decided to argue this far and say things like 'reading comprehension' as if there was any possible way you referring specifically to X made any kind of difference, since you somehow, are not making the connection that X is in no way shape or form real time because it uses xenoblades battle engine.... Im going to have to be more direct.X and xenoblade have the same non real time battle system, even if you didnt play xenoblade and do not instantly recognize the same exact non real time battle engine in action that you should have spent 100+ hours with in xenoblade and instantly recognize on sight because it is permanantlly etched into your heart.... You should know its not real time anyways because Iwata specifically states it is the same non real time battle engine as Xenoblade in the Direct this footage comes from.Seriously though, why have you not played xenoblade? Why would you do that? Do you hate Gottfried Leibniz And are punishing him from beyond his grave?

Actually guy,
Reading comprehension applies. Since you clearly referenced a different game. I don't know what battle system it uses. It APPEARS real time to me (And if Iwata mentioned it, I did miss it) And actually that's how I mentioned it. Unless you have access to build docs that express this, min guessing you predicate that belief on the wii game. Try harder next time and your normal clarity and quality of posts won't be marred by nonsense like this.

Reading comprehension would help you instead of jumping to argumentative conclusions.

And no amount of arguing minutiae will clean up your obvious fail.

No crap you thought it was real time. Thats the entire reason I have been telling you its not, and have been constsantly referencing xenoblade, where its battle engine comes from.

The only thing marring my explanations to you is your own willful obstinance and ignorance. YOU are the one, who doesnt have the experience required to recognize what is being shown.

1. Yeah, people who spent 150 hours+ with Xenoblade CAN recognize its battle engine and others like it from real time battle engines like monster hunter. ESPECIALLY monster hunter. Most people who play monster hunter should be able to recognize the difference between a real time battle system and the one shown in x/xenoblade.

2. Despite me already being 100% right from the moment the game was first shown, it doesnt matter, as, as you stated you missed, Iwata states that it uses Xenoblades battle engine.

37:25

"Mr. Takahashi tells us, that the games battle system, is based off of the one used in Xenoblade chronicles for Wii".

You should look up the definition for minutae, because minutae is not the 800 lb gorilla you have been ignoring, nor is it the entire revolving point of an argument.
Also, there was never any point in time I referenced Xenoblade instead of X,

"Practically every single aspect to monster hunter is fundamentally, irreconcilably opposite of xenoblade/x"

"xenoblade/x"

"/X"

"X"

They were always paired, as they share the same battle engine. So you can drop your erroneous attempt at playing the reading comprehension angle, because the only one failing it is you.

I have them on my PC but XB had some massive massive enemies so when people first said it was a MH knockoff I knew they never played Xenoblade. Despite being on Wii the game had some fraking huge enemies.

I'd post a couple more but the forum has a limit

Lol.

Quit acting like a child just because you forgot to read. And no you weren't trying to tell me all about x. You wre referencing xenoblade on wii. It was later you shared the info from the direct which I missed.

Bottom line is this: as I said, I missed the Iwata statement. I wasn't to impressed with the direct as is and didn't pay a ton of attention, so I based it on visuals. From the smaller fights to the big creature, it (once again for the reading comprehension impaired) APPEARED REAL TIME to me.

Boom. Done.

The more mature, , less thread-killing, and NORMAL thing to do would be to say "hey bro, that's actually not real time. The Direct stated it's the same Xenoblade system. And the rest would be history and this thread would be the better for it. Instead, you go full-child-mode because I didn't hear that.

Great mod example.

It's not real time. That's ok.

And you referencing xblade IS the problem because I wasn't. I WAS REFERRING TO X (which may be the same universe, etc., but is clearly not the same game. With all the maneuvers the FF series has been pulling with battle tactics, it wouldn't be a shock to see change...for the love of all that is holy) Learn to man up when you're wrong instead of over explaining and then trying to concentrate on points that weren't the issue, (yet clearly avoiding and deflecting your reading comprehension deficiencies while doing so) to overcompensate. It's not pretty when someone over corrects a wayward vehicle... And that's you with this thread right about now.

Cool story bro. But thats all it is. A story

" Practically every
single aspect to monster hunter is
fundamentally, irreconcilably opposite of
xenoblade/x"

" There is no real time 3dcombat in Xenoblade,
nor X"

Nothing you have said actually happened in reality.

Reading comprehension applies, because 3Dude referred to X and Xenoblade, then he also restated that he was referring to both.

And you have no understanding of conversation flow. Especially since his reply was him "correcting" an assumption that he thought I was referring to Xenoblade. That's where he went wrong. Him talking about both is of no consequence sinc that wasn't the subject which he failed on. He was erroneously attacking me because he thought I had reference Xenoblade with real time combat. It was x. You can go back and read.

Reading comprehension applies indeed.

Nice diversion.

I didn't state things that happened. I stated what X appeared to offer.

You keep trying to avoid that. But you're the one making up stories to fight arguments that don't exist.

Keep up the great work.

Ok guys there was a misunderstanding. You both misunderstood each other. Are you both clear on what the other person meant? Because I really want to talk about this game.

It looks like it's got a lot of neat online features, but I looks far from complete based on rewatch I g those videos. I saw a couple glitches in even the two hype trailers when they first release it.

Also, I've heard this combat be likened to Dragon Age. Is this true?

I believe that's her picture from when she went to gamestop and they accidentally gave her 2 copies in the one box.

Btw, looking back over the footage from that gamexplain video i saw earlier, the character model for "player1" looked like utter dick-balls, or rainbow in laymons terms.
Explain this.

I wouldnt count on seeing that in the final game. Or really any characters shown. Character design is being headed by:
45824735f82ac79e509fcc156340c7aa2220ff10

Although what style he chooses to go with will likely be different than xenogears, heres an idea of what to expect.

Xenogears is kinda middle of the road with him. It can go to the far left, which is really kitsche anime stuff, and a bit farther to the right

ryu-kotsu-inside02.png
Which is probably more in line with what well be seeing with X.

I meant how untextured he looked, and the contours especially around the shoulders.

It seemed strange given the earlier trailer with close-ups of his softshell lizard strutting down a runway.

If the character designs arent complete, or the models havent been made from the character designs, or the rigging isnt complete, they will use stock models as place holders, which every company keeps a portfolio of for exactly this kind of occasion, a selection of models with different builds that can be tweaked to fit different scenarios, which is 99.99% what we are looking at here.

Although I think its pretty hard to get a good look at what kind of textures were or werent being used through that lossy compression, I dont feel it particularly matters as those models very likely wont be seen come the final game.

So why not use the same "stock" texture for the character as they did it both earlier trailers(esp. given he looks so similar), since they looked about 16 times more defined?

You really think you would be able to see that detail through that horrible video feed?

Whatever footage you have thats that clean, please send it my way, because I havent been able to find ANYTHING thats not a blurry, lossy mess. I LITERALLY cant see the textures behind that video. Its really, really, bad video, and the character models dont get anywhere NEAR as close to the camera as they did in earlier trailers, even in the very first trailer, the character model is very often a good 20 feet closer to the camera, and even closer a bit of the time, AND it is a much MUCH better video feed.

In order to see any detail through that video feed, the model would need to be REALLY close to the camera.
