Stop. The only thing remotely spammy over there were the guys from SWAT Gun Club and the Royal Hawaiian Gun Club trying to get your attention over the other guy.
 
That, and random guys on segways trying to get on a tour around the island.

I was told they love spam since it's cheap and tastes good and since the war and stuff

I can see how people could think the commercial is racist, but it's not. There's nothing wrong with liking fried chicken... I like fried chicken... And I AM a chicken! (Okay, maybe not)

 

But seriously, the stereotype that black people like fried chicken is no worse than the stereotype that Americans like cheeseburgers.

 

That being said, it's probably best to stay away from anything that could be taken as racist because, even if you have good intentions, there are some that will take it out of context and make you look racist. Not saying that racism doesn't exist, but this doesn't look like a case of it to me.

You look at your market data, and notice 60% of your clients are black males under the age of 20?
Is it okay to do an advertisement where a 17 year old black child orders an alienware laptop?
What is that was true of a white person, can you have your advertisement feature a white person just because your company has seen a 60% clientele of white people?

No, I think that if you think an advertisement which takes advantage of their market research is a racist advertisement, then you are a racist.

That's what I said.

BTW he's saying lots of black people eat KFC so KFC puts black people in their adverts to advertise to their biggest customer base. It's still technically racist but it makes buiness sense.

I guess it all depends on your definition of "racist". I usually think of "racist" as meaning treating a certain race badly. I don't really see anything wrong with saying a certain group of people like fried chicken, but that's just me.

It applies to both bad and good, but market research pointing to a certain race liking your products more than another isn't racist because it's unbiased.
Data is formed without bias.
Understanding of data can form a bias, since people have minds.
If you interpret KFC as something black people enjoy because they are black, then you are racist.

Now, if you have another scene, exactly the same, but with the colors reversed, nothing would happen.

 

It's interesting to think about.

There's a cathedral somewhere that's quite the tourist attraction. On the front are two doors: "Racist" and "Not Racist." Tourists would, of course, go to the not racist door, only to find that, surprise, it's locked, and they would have to go through the racist door.

1. Yeah it actually is. I didn't make that up, that's the legal definition, singling people out because of their race for any reason what so ever falls under racism.

Check through my posts btw, I've made sure to say all races and not specifically white people, because that's what i believe (also that was an example of stereotyping (part of racism) )

Also that second point (about looking down on a whole race for a single person's actions) is a very interesting one. Sounds really familiar. Almost like I said it on this very thread a couple pages ago

haha naah i'm good. I kind already touched on them a bit. Besides it's useless. I've given up on you all. Actually in my generation in generation in general. Oh well, maybe my kids will be lucky enough to live in a world that see it *hopeful sigh*

I'm so sorry that you've "given up on us". It's a shame we all can't be more like you, saying stuff like how it's fine for blacks to be racist against whites, just as long as it isn't the other way around. :v
