I've often lamented the fact that despite its hard-earned mainstream status, the gaming industry gets no respect from mainstream journalists and consumers. And you know, it seems that no matter what we do, it's lose-lose.Take, for example, a recent conversation I had with an ex-colleague. We used to work together at a local newspaper; we've since moved on, as neither of us wanted to starve to death. However, as he was willing to move to the big city, he's doing a good deal better than me, a fact he never shies away from whenever we chat.
Damn that's cold.

No matter what evidence we have against game haters, we lose because they can't accept facts, it's like having a creationist vs evolutionist debate. You can't win.
At the same time it's not misleading.Wow. Thats not click bait.

Because truly something petty like the brand of video games you play and how old you are when you play them is the deciding factor in if you're "normal" or not. Bull****. It's not like you're watching Dora the Explorer or stuff like that. Just video games with a certain art style and character.

I think video games in general are juvenile, even if the content is graphic, violent and "mature." I'm 44 and love Nintendo. Brings back some great memories from a better time in my life. To be sure, I have only recently had a Nintendo "rebirth." I have only owned three systems in the last 20 plus years- An SNES, a gameboy Advance and a Wii U.
In addition to the nostalgia, the playability is just there for me that I don't get with other systems/publishers. Granted, I'm not saying that I won't play non Nintendo titles, but it's kind of hard for me to imagine having a primary systems where I can't play Mario, Mario Kart, Donkey Kong (might eventually end up with a PS4 when price comes down for Madden and a few other games that look interesting).
Finally, there's just something funny about Nintendo characters- or as often said "charm" that you don't find on other systems/publishers.....

The thing I hate the most about this artical is... he's right
No matter what evidence we have against game haters, we lose because they can't accept facts, it's like having a creationist vs evolutionist debate. You can't win.
At the same time it's not misleading.
No, hes an idiotic man child with severe arrested development issues.
He is literally the exact opposite of 'right'.
Critics who treat 'adult' as a
term of approval, instead of as
a merely descriptive term,
cannot be adult themselves. To
be concerned about being
grown up, to admire the
grown up because it is grown
up, to blush at the suspicion of
being childish; these things are
the marks of childhood and
adolescence. And in childhood
and adolescence they are, in
moderation, healthy
symptoms. Young things ought
to want to grow. But to carry
on into middle life or even
into early manhood this
concern about being adult is a
mark of really arrested
development. When I was ten,
I read fairy tales in secret and
would have been ashamed if I
had been found doing so. Now
that I am fifty I read them
openly. When I became a man
I put away childish things,
including the fear of
childishness and the desire to
be very grown up.

Not wasting time. If enjoying yourself with whatever you enjoy then half your life is a waste then.

Well one could argue that pretty much everything in life is a waste of time.
But what I meant is that most games don't give you anything in return besides pleasure or entertainment for a few hours.

The article would have had more base if it said "If You're Over 30 And You Still Love Videogames, You're Weird"... And even that doesn't take into account the fact that the industry and times have changed. Videogames have become a common household item that will soon compete directly with TVs, microwaves, refrigerators, etc.
Either way, the fact that it's a Sony fanboy actually speaks volumes about why it targets a specific crowd, lol
