Now I don't know which one to get :(

New 3DS has the customisable faceplates while the XL will not have changeable plates.

I want an XL, but also want changeable plates.  BOOOO

Simple solution to this. Get XL then buy decals you can find those all over online. It's not as perm as faceplate with screws and that either and can always take the decal off and throw on another.

Personally not a decals or faceplate guy but do have a Wonderful 101 sticker on my Wii U,aSEGA one on my Laptop and a Earthbound sticker on my 3DS XL. Cheaper an easier.

This. Also, if you already have an XL, there's no going back.

I have an XL and have regretted it for a long time. I got it when it first came out and all I wanted to do since was get myself another regular 3DS. The screen to me isn't as good and I don't like how heavy it feels. Gamepad is heavier but it doesn't bother me since your hands are far apart. When these come out I am for sure getting the small one. It looks so much better than the XL also.

So far I have resisted upgrading my broken launch 3DS.

I can no longer resist.

Anyone know if it will be possible to transfer games you already own?

Yes, there is a system transfer function that completely transfers all you games, saves, photos and other data from one 3DS to another.

If anyone complains about no ac adapter... you should have been complaining back in 2012 with the 3ds XL. Japan's system didn't include adapter, North America did. Looks like this could be same scenario for the new 3ds and new 3ds xl.

Games exclusive for platform?

Super Mario Sunshine   - new 3ds exclusive
Xenoblade 3d
Twilight Princess
Codename Steam (enhanced)

I really hope the Sunshine thing is true. I been wanting a remake or sequel for that game for a long time now. I don't know how the water squirting would work though without pressure sensitive shoulder buttons. Maybe L/R would be strong squirt and ZL/ZR would be small squirt.

What we get probably won't even be close to that. We'll likely just get a box with a picture of the system in it's closed state on the front. So boring.

Pretty nice looking box. Showing off the faceplates and giving a nice pop. Smart.

From Gaf and IGN boards, new 3ds pdf shows increased power over current 3ds including GPU upgrade performance.

Wish it was true... but doubtful

The only reason I would doubt this being true (Well, aside from the incorrect clock speeds of the OG 3ds, and the absurd mock up of something nintendo would never do, complete with *for developers only, lol)... Is because it just sounds too plausible. Is that weird?

A dual core arm11 with full and properly utilized core concurrency for the game program @544 Mhz, should be able to handle most any aspects of cpu work for wii games.... Provided a talented team puts considerable effort in reworking the game for the hardare.

My main concern would be battery life, but if we are looking at a die shrink, that could be entirely mitigated, and then some.

Other then faceplate customisation another thing the XL model doesn't have is the different coloured buttons, just different coloured letters on them. I really don't know why they decided to do that. As much as I would like to replace my existing XL with an XL version of the new 3DS I might go with the regular model due to the customisable face plates and different coloured buttons like the SNES controller had.

Yeah I do like the faceplates and colored buttons... and the new 3ds model (not XL) has a slightly larger screen then the original 3ds. Not by much, but it is a bit bigger.

I'm kinda in the opposite position. I have a regular 3DS. I really want the bigger screen, especially for smash, since some people said it's a little hard to see what characters are doing. Though I do still want customizable faceplates ;_;

I suggest getting hands on in person when they are released here as my previous post suggests the new 3ds model does have a tad bigger screen then the original 3ds... this may be suitable for you still then going with an XL.

I think I may just get both though LOL
