Everything I touch turns into glitch hop...

 

Actually that's pretty funny. I'm curious to see what you would do with my new song lol. I can't see progressive house turning into glitch hop too easily

Anyways, here's that dubstep (?) song in all it's somewhat finished glory...

 

 

Took me about 15 hours over the past 13 days... Can't believe my computer stayed on for that long. Also, here's a picture of the project.

Its a really nice arrangement and composition. But honestly, it's a little too muddy and probably too much sub bass. Maybe some more white risers effects should make the transitions smoother.

But seriously the first build up (0:20) is so undramatic lmao. Can't you do some riser or some white noise there? Maybe do some side/mid automation.

 

Btw, how do you even open your project? Didn't you have the demo version?

Yeah, I'm really bad at making epic, dramatic builds. That part is still the intro, though.

 

And yeah, I only have the demo, I've just kept FL Studio open for like two or three weeks... e_o

It's exciting. I really like it. Just needs some nice chord breaks in between drops and it should be pretty awesome. It sounds a bit like the music that EnV produces, which is why I'm taking a liking to it lol.

oh the feed back and advice thread?

I kind of forgot about that subreddit. It's good up to a certain point of learning, and then it just becomes really repetitive. I probably learn more from it's circlejerk counterpart than I do that actual sub lol

Someone suggested Porter (i think it was porter) do an AMA there, his response was something along the lines of "So I can get asked if I tune my drums 200 times?" which unfortunately is pretty accurate lol. The advanced production subreddit could be pretty good but it's deader than Boston Brand unfortunately :/

Oh that's definitely possible. Idk if you know who twitch is (figure you might since you're a brony) but he makes some really great stuff for someone with no instrumental or theoretical knowledge. It's still a great thing to know though. Did you post your song as an example of as much then?

And the furture bass is nice, but could use some more bass(that's kind of important, lol). I can hear that it's there for sure, but there's kind of disconnect between your main kick and the sub. Sound like your main kick ends around 50ish hrz and your sub is at 20-30. Makes them sound like two completely separate entities instead of a nice conjoined one.

also chaos, since you love worlds so much, I'm guessing you heard his Nero remix right? I only ask because I want the opportunity to  talk about how absolutely incredible it is.

I don't know about needing more bass... Maybe I need better speakers, but it sounds to me like about the right amount... And a lot of future bass I've listened to is actually very bass light... We'll see, though, Maybe I'll change my mind later on.

Well... RIP that project... Messed around with the project pitch and the whole thing crashed... 

 

Ah well, now would be a good time to upgrade to FL Studio 12... Anyways, here's the last export I did... Pretty much the same, but whatevs. It's a shame, I liked where this one was going.

Also I do hear the similarities, to worlds in that song for sure, though there are some production issues that stop it from quite matching up. These guys do a better job of recreating the style. Though they're working from stuff porter actually created so it's only really the production they've done better.
