Ok, so when I was reading another topic link on here I found some interesting news for some people! When a guy from Kotaku got his hands on the console and did a look around it, he saw these plastic things on the side of the system that he called "feet" for standing the console upright. But after the video, in the text below he put:

"There is an error in the video... I thought that the Wii U could be stood vertically, but the pieces of plastic I describe in the video as feet are not feet. The Wii U will not stand, not on its own. It needs to lie down."

So I guess we all have to set the system down this time! Haha, this may not be critical news, but is something Nintendo decided to change on their new console!

Not really new news, but I mean - it's not that important. OH NOES, I CAN'T STAND IT VERTICALLY!!!11!!!1! lol
No, but I don't stand mine upright, it just works better to have it sideways for most tv setups. And if your setup *truly* needs it, you know there will be 3rd party stands that will change the console's orientation.

Also, I don't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure its MUCH safer to your Wii's disc drive to run it on its side. I had mine upright for 3 years and the disc drive went out. I've used it sideways after getting it fixed (not because of it, but just for convenience), and haven't had any other problems

I tend to just have my Wii on its side, so this is fine by me. I think that the Wii U console looks good on its side.

I've always had my Wii up-right, in fact, all my gaming consoles have been upright (if they have the ability to).

My Wii generally stays sideways. I don't like the hassle of taking it in and out of the stand when I take it to school, so I just stopped bothering with it at some point a couple of years ago. So I really don't care whether the Wii U can stand upright or not.

Besides, nothing is stopping an accessories manufacturer from creating a vertical stand, anyway.

Not a huge problem, I might have to move a few things around under my TV but not a big deal. it might actually be a bit nicer as I won't have to worry about it getting knocked over.

I personally find it more convenient to have the console sitting on it's side.

Eh, it doesn't really bother me that much... Though, in a way, I'd prefer it to stand, but it's no big deal.

I think those tabs on the side might be for better stability while in a stand. The stand would have holes for the tabs to go into. They might have just decided not to reveal the stand to us yet.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Those little tabs must be something you clip onto a stand or something of the like.

Glad I sit my Wii horizontally on my Kustom speaker. It's a sizable piece of PA tech, so it can hold that, my Wiimote charger and all my games on top of it. :D

I was excited by how much it resembles the Wii because I don't have to make new arrangements, but then I was even more relieved to know I was doing it right all along. B) The PS2 didn't need its stand, so neither did the Wii.

I don't care at all, I was planning to have it horisontal anyway.

FYI: those little tabs on the side are to make some space so air can flow in/out if you put the console in a corner or something like that. gamecube also has them.

This.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.
