I am expecting some sort of third-party cooling stand to be made. I can see the Wii U generating tons of heat.

The Wii U likely runs four to five times as hot as the Wii without being any more than 42% larger in volume. The design of the Wii U simply has to accommodate design choices that keep this thing from melting or breaking while in use.

I like it better on it's side because my wii kept falling down a lot.

I crammed my Wii upright in a small cabinet below my TV. I wasn't sure if it would fit on its side, but after measuring using the System details on Nintendo's E3 Website, it will just barely fit. I would still prefer it upright so I don't need to pile stuff on top of it.

I lay my Wii flat mainly so I know which way to put the disk in. Also, I like the position of the GameCube controller things and the SD card slot is horizontal. Oh yeah: And I lost the upright stand-er thing. AND I'm afraid it'll fall.

Thas about it.

Eh, doesn't bother me much. While I do prefer to stand my Wii upright, I do occasionally rest it horizontally for a change.

I don't know about you Baroque but I know one thing I will keep mine on its side. It takes up less space that way.
Duh.
Don't push it I am smarter than you.

It doesn't bother me at all that it doesn't stand upright, as I've always laid my consoles flat before this generation, so I'm used to have it lay flat. I think it looks sleeker that way as well, but it all depends on the form factor of the console.

Actually, I have to stand my Wii up vertically. Between my TV and my computer monitor, I have about a 1.5' x 3' space to put all of my game consoles, controllers, games, etc. With a GameCube, a Wii, an N64, and a PlayStation, I only have enough room to stuff my Wii in vertically. I don't mind, though.

shouldn't be cramming it into anything tbh, a console, just like a pc, needs enough room around it so it can get rid of the hot air and get fresh cold air. This console is going to generate a lot more heat than a wii and stacking things on top of it or around it might cause it to overheat.

Besides that, I don't own a wii myself, but I really don't mind how my console sits or stands.
(I was thinking of buying a Wii cause of Skyword Sword but then now I may as well just wait till Wii U and then buy SSBB, SMG1/2, DKCR, TP, SS and bye bye life for a while :P)

I tend to just have my Wii on its side, so this is fine by me. I think that the Wii U console looks good on its side.

Yeah, this. Side makes it easier so you dont accidentally knock it over.
