Hi, my name is Alph. I live on a planet named Koppai. I am famous for saving my planet from starvation. My best friends are Brittany and Captain Olimar, NOT Captain Charlie. I like surfing the KopNet and playing Kopetball.

1) It keeps those companies' prying, spying tactics off of Nintendos consoles. FB and Twitter apps are highly invasive.
2) It will help keep the system focused. Something everyone else seems to forget about. MiiVerse is the standard. U-Verse would have been a better name, but I imagine AT&T would take issue with that. LOL
3) MiiVerse actually seems, dare I say it, "better" than FB or Twitter, despite its game centered focus and ability to use the GamePad in any way Nintendo can think up. And they are good at thinking things up.
I imagine FB and Twitter will both be available down the line, after MiiVerse gets entrenched.

Then again, I will own just a Wii U AND a PC. I've always said this, but PC is infinitely better than Microsoft and Sony's consoles, with better exclusives (debateable, some don't like the old DOS or Win95 games, Civilization or StarCraft), better graphics (I personally don't care for this too much, but the folks with a 360 or PS3 always want the best graphics, so... yeah), better controls (don't like gamepad or keyboard + mouse? Switch to the other option), and is a better multimedia box than the other consoles (something Microsoft is eager to show to the masses for its 360).
Anyway, I can see myself owning just a Wii U AND a PC. Unless I put off getting a Wii U, I think I'll just get a Wii U around two or three years down the road, the same way I took with my Wii. But once I'll get my Wii U, I'll spend some time rocking Mario Kart 8 in my Wii U online, ready to kick you guys out of Rainbow Road.

Only two of those were really news to me: freeware and weekly discounts. The rest has been alluded to in the past. I don't mean to be a negative Nelly, but it just doesn't feel like new info.http://www.computera...e-will-be-free/
Coming from investor meeting.
So, in following, here is what Nintendo's Online service offers.
Free Online Services
DLC
Online Shop containing Virtual Console, Indy, Freeware and Full Retail Titles
Weekly Discounts
Cross Platform Communication with 3DS, PC, Smartphones and Tablets (at later date)
Video Chat with friends
Account System
Message Boards
Achievements (will be posted on Miiverse, not mandatory)
Multiple Levels of Security*
Web Browser w/flash support, private browsing, on (controller)screen keyboard
Multimedia services including Netflix and Hulu
in-game access to Miiverse and Browser
The things NOT included are as follows.
Twitter of Facebook Apps**
Current Friend Code System
Multi Touch
Tons of great news! .
Uh, can't tell if troll.I agree its all great news, but the no facebook/twitter thing is bugging me, if nintendo want us to use the wiiu as the homes main multi media/entertainment system why leave out the 2 best scial network sites! #$% ??????
Those 2 sites wud influence certian peoples choices when chosing a next gen console. No unreal 4 and no facebook/twitter, very brave or very stupid?
You can access both of those sites still. If it kills you to not have a dedicated app for it, nobody is forcing you to buy anything.
Grr! It is d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y!This is terrific news! I bet most of the Freeware games have pop-up ads, but that's well worth it. Nintendo is definately on the right path.
Repeat after me: "If I put an 'a' in 'definitely', I am definitely an a-hole."
As you can tell, this spelling error infuriates me.
I could have sworn that was confirmed. Now I only hope for GameCube games on Virtual Console!
What we do is, if we ever need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
We put the volume up to eleven. One louder.

Never comment on one of my posts again unless you are addressing the subject matter of my post. I made a careless spelling error on a discussion board about video games, not a piece that is being submitted for academic purposes.
