Just a quote from the article.
"I suppose that the biggest question everybody has about the Wii U version has to do with just how good the game looks. Honestly, it looks incredible on Wii U. So incredible, in fact, that it makes me wonder why the PS3 version looks as ropey as it does. This isn’t to say that the PS3 demo I played looked abysmal, far from it, but it definitely didn’t look as smooth and texture rich as the Wii U version does. Of course, as the Wii U version is actually a port, the most likely explanation for visual differences is that the PS3 version is an older build, perhaps an E3 demo, while the Wii U version is up to date."

From Gamesradar

"The bad news: The PS3 version was playing beside it – and the difference is night and day. Right now, PS3's version of Assassin's Creed III is, simply put, better. Even gamers without my robot eyes would be able to see the difference.

Smoother edges, better frame-rate, more detailed textures… it's akin to the kind of difference we used to see in multiplatform games when the PS3 version would look shaky in comparison to Xbox 360 release. It could change before release of course, but that's how it is right now."

That's the first thing that came to mind.

Complete opposites, same damn thing, same build, same event, same day.... complete opposite articles.

Lol game journalism is so worthless now.

Have any of you seen the comparison videos from E3? The Wii U version looks a fair amount better, the lighting seems more realistic, the water effects are better and the overall textures in the game are quite a bit better too. Why would Gamesradar say it looks worse when evidence is against them?

How can they say this, when I'm looking at the screenshots and seeing that the Wii U version obviously looks better than the PS3 version.

I'm not sure, but I think GamesRadar is biased. From what I see in this article, the lack of explanation is a proof of their bias.

I think wii u is going to surprise a lot of people. Developers are going to see how easy it is to port games, and how much more can be done with it.

Didn't a Ubisoft employee say that the best version was on the Wii U?

Apparently it is missing some lighting and particle effects due to a lack of development time...

The Wii U version will be missing some effects. It excels better in other areas.

That is all.

The Wii U Version looks better except for a missing speck of dirt, and the moon is slightly less bright.

Unless your a graphics whore, who cares if the bricks don't reflect light as well, if the gameplay is richer with the gamepad, its better on the wii u.

Actually, graphics "whores" will appreciate the Wii U version far better. It easily trumps the other systems here with better textures, lighting, etc. there will be some slight effects loss due to lack of time with the new system to port all of the old system code over properly. but what is there already looks much better eve though it's basically the same code, assets, etc.

Even though it's just a port of a last gen game, and even with some slight effects loss, the Wii U version of the game is graphically superior. Still, would have served them (and Wii U owners) much better had they put the proper development resources into the U version isntead of just letting its extra horsepower "automagically" make it better. But ports are about quick money, not hard work.

I don't believe this development time restraints as a geniune excuse. Its likely the particle effects and lighting couldn't be achieved easily on the wii u or at all. Particle effects are very cpu intensive. I remember all this from the original wii where games were cut down and such excuses were given. This time around the difference is small but it still seems there is a difference. For a more powerful console to have a feature reduced version seems unlikely. The wii u is getting a port of a 360/PS3 game and should be able to achieve everything they can.

I do understand the game pad screen takes resources and it may actually be the wii u is more powerful easily but generating the game pad screen simultanously means effectively the wii u performs below that of ps3/360 because of this. I don't know how Assasins Creed makes use of the game pad though.

I do feel the strengths of the wii u are going to be different to the existing 360 and PS3. It feels like the wii u cpu is under-powered a bit but extra memory and a more modern gpu architecture will give it advantages in other areas.

You haven't seen the Assassin's Creed 3 Wii U Gamepad screens?

Posted Image

Well this was the first one I could find on google. Basically, the map's in the middle, and the little circle icons are weapon changes. This would be the standard game screen, with all the action happening on the TV.

As for how this changes to Gamepad only (if it does that) I don't know.

Anyway, as you said, and as I feel as though I've been saying this entire time, the Wii U will accel in certain areas of graphical prowess whereas it will fall in others compared to the game's other console counterparts (assuming it has other console counterparts).

Lol. Good one, man...

Of course the Wii U can do everything the current systems can do and much more. But it's a different architecture. You have to do things differently. And the wii u is getting a PORT. That's par for the course. Ubisofr is making way too many games for wii u at once. It's not like they are going to fawn over a port of one game. More than likely they are picking their battles and polishing raymsn and zombiu in the wii u platform. The other things can be patched into creed later. But truthfully they should delay until it is done.

Moving on...
