Prime version for me. The uPad has so much potential with the game, and Prime in HD will look amazing.

I also voted for Prime as the version. And I also agree with Sparrow when he said "the uPad has so much potential with the game" he has a very good point.

Personally I think that the Wii u should get a prime or other m style game, while the 3ds should get a sidescroller (super metroid remake anyone?)

Interesting question, but I vote prime for sure. I remember how the original prime wowed everybody with the graphics, just imagine an HD prime on a massive scale.

The only official announcement hints towards a Prime style game:

I can’t give you any details now, but I’m sure there will be a new Metroid release making use of the new controller, not just to control Samus and her ship but also to give the player a new source of information.Maybe the player is looking at the screen but has the information that they need to defeat the enemy in their hands. You could look through the screen and scan your enemy and find where it’s weakspot is.

Imagine using the WiiU controller to scan the area (the TV screen). METROID PRIME FTW.

Agreed. A subtle 3D effect would really benefit a classic side scroller Metroid.

Prime in HD would blow minds.

Plus Retro are the only developers worthy of making a Metroid Game (except ninty itself of course) Jog on team ninja.

Hello, I am Roy.

How about a 3rd person Metroid to freshen things up?
It would have a Prime style to it so you aim yourself. (no Auto-aim)
New planets at a much larger scale.
Don't push it I am smarter than you.

This franchise seems to be most closely associated in peoples' minds with the HD era - probably because the aesthetic of the Prime trilogy already tended toward this direction (I still think that Corruption looks good, even when compared to HD games)...

But I don't necessarily want another "Prime" (meaning, a first-person shooter/adventure)... I would be all for an entirely different mode of play for the franchise, as long as the core Metroid dynamic of recursive, layered exploration, haunting atmosphere, upgradable abilities, deep alien lore and complex environmental puzzles were all preserved.

Keep the above qualities, keep the realistic, captivating aesthetic, and you've got me sold...

Can you imagine how big the world could be with the Wii U tech? Hell, the Wii could fit the whole Prime Trilogy world on a single disk, could you imagine a world that has a map bigger than all 3 games put together. There would probably have to be 2 planets or more and you should be able to explore GF fleets. The story should be told mostly through scans (I really love them, and it's a nice way to learn about the past of the planet. If it annoys people it could have a voice for the log book) but you could receive messages from the GF and other people. I would want it to be made by Retro, be First Person and have very little cut scenes as apposed to Other M. And while making the world rememberable so you have a general idea of where you are without looking at the map, it should have an uneasy to traverse structure so you can't go from one end to another in a few minutes. And it definitely shouldn't be linear. More exploration the better.

Eventually I'd like both, but I'd really like a Metroid Prime as the game would look absolutely amazing in HD.

I think that they could do both a 3rd person & 1st person view on the new Wii U Metroid, such as the screen on the Wii U controller could be used to view the action in 1st person, while what we see on the TV could be displayed in a 3rd person view. I don't know just something I think they should try to do...
