We still don't know the performance of the wii u so a direct comparison with consoles launched 6 years ago approx may not be relevant. If the wii u only matches their performance for example the value comparison is terrible as 7 years has passed. In those 7 years PC performance has changed hugely for the same level of cost. If its performance is similar it may be fair to compare the wii u to the prices of ps3 and 360 now not at launch.

Good graphic. But I think most butthurts' say that the wii u is on-par with the systems which launched 6 or 7 years ago, yet cost around the same price as they did when they launched.
There's a few misconceptions these people have, which are hidden behind their simple "I wanted it to be 249.99 :'("

It's expensive compared to Nintendo's previous products, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's expensive, but I am actually willing to pay that much as opposed to Microsoft or Sony.

per·spec·tive
[per-spek-tiv]
noun

1. a technique of depicting volumes and spatial relationships on a flat surface. Compare aerial perspective, linear perspective.
2. a picture employing this technique, especially one in which it is prominent: an architect's perspective of a house.
3. a visible scene, especially one extending to a distance; vista: a perspective on the main axis of an estate.
4. the state of existing in space before the eye: The elevations look all right, but the building's composition is a failure in perspective.
5. the state of one's ideas, the facts known to one, etc., in having a meaningful interrelationship: You have to live here a few years to see local conditions in perspective.

explain to me more...

I think its pretty obvious that the Wii U can run graphics better than current-gen as it has newer shaders (lighting and shadows hugely improved), GPGPU (better physics/post processing) and a ton of RAM (higher resolution textures, less texture pop up). Oh and that is all while outputting an extra FWVGA framebuffer to the gamepad.

Just look at ZombiU, there is some stuff going on there with lighting and post processing that I do not believe PS3 or Xbox 360 can do.

Then there is the cost of the gamepad itself, which people seem to be forgetting.

In my opinion the Wii U is very cheap, maybe in the power department is between this gen and the next gen, but remember that the gamepad isn't cheap and this is why the price is good. If anyone thinks that the price is unfair is just a troll, even Patcher says the price is good.

Well, the difference is that Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 both came with new hardware while Wii U comes with only slightly better hardware then what we got back then, 7 years ago. Both Microsoft and Sony sold their hardware with loss, while Nintendo will earn on every sold platform.
Either way i think the price is legit. Its a new platform either way and people are buying it for the games that are made and will be made during the next five (plus) years. Not based on what chips are in it.

Man the price is fine, I'm happy to pay 350 for a new console that is going to give me a new and unique way of playing games. Nintendo never lets me down ever. So I know that the WiiU is worth the price.

Plus 300/350 isn't even that much. Think of what you'll be paying when the PS4 and 720 come out. I bet you those will cost more than 400 dollars for sure.
