Just called my gamestop-they don't know if they're having a midnight launch, but we do have 48 hours to pick up the pre-order.

My gamestop says they are not doing launch, simply because they never have in history doing any launches going into Sunday, something that Corporate dislikes for some reason.

That depends what country you live in because the wiiu is region locked if I rembered correctly. So you may want to make sure your getting it for the right region..
As for what to do either spend the day there or go back every once in a while to see how big the line is.

I live in Brazil, and always buy US consoles. The games sold here belong to the same region. Besides, i always buy games from eBay...

I called a bunch of Gamestop stores on the Manhattan area and they said it's too soon to know if they will be doing launches at midnight or not...

Trust me, this system is gonna be completly sold out everywhere for the first few weeks. You will find yourself waiting for the delivery trucks at Walmart and Target every Wednesday.

Very few probably going to buy a new console in January with hurt credit cards and finances, Nintendo know this so will ensure lots of units in shops before Xmas.Its just common sense the original wiis shortages at release probably cost Nintendo millions.launch day dont know but definetely before Xmas lots of stock will appear.

Nintendo know this, so will make sure they stock the shops with plenty of consoles before Christmas, so as to make the most of the pre-seasonal spending.
I make this wild claim based on the assumption that Nintendo lost out on some sales on the Wii due to shortages experienced at the same time in the Wii's cycle.

Well, it's either that, or i'll be coming back to Brazil empty-handed. Since i'll be on a road trip to Nebraska on the 18th, i'll make sure to stop at every single Walmart/Target/GS/whatever on the way there if i don't manage to buy one on launch day.
