She says you have to download Miiverse and that it will have to be downloaded once you install your console at home and configure your connection.

She also says there will be an achievement like system included to the Miiverse.

So, how will look like the main Wii U menu without miiverse once you turn your console on for first time? lol iwata said that the first thing you see when you turn it on is the miiverse main menu.

There's only three people at Nintendo who's word I take for fact, Iwata, Miyamoto, and Reggie. Until it comes from one of their mouths (or another high-up dev who's close enough, like Aonuma, or the Animal Crossing guy) I remain skeptical.

It is sort of an online hub I think, doesn't necessarily mean you need it. Probably just take you to an offline screen if you don't have internet

Also love the Mario Galaxy music, nice touch haha

i agree with andy 100% but i'm also open to the possibility that SOME elements of miiverse might need downloading, but i think she's likely to just be plain wrong

Remember, Miiverse gathers your local mii's around the games you play first, then it goes to the internet.

More conflicting reports I see. We all know what we get from listening to Nintendo reps...Iwata said when we turn the console on the Miiverse will be the first thing we see...she says we have to download it. Guess we will find out in 22 days

Guys, we have to stop taking reps word so seriously. They know nothing.

Literally they were created in a factory to only know how to speak, and run Nintendo booths.

I honestly don't care if it needs to be downloaded. It will be easy to download it, if it isn't pre-installed.

Can I see your source?

The last time I, or my family listened to a PR person, we (completely against what the PR person said) had our internet downgraded from 3.0MBPs to around 0.87MBPs.

So uh...yeah. Screw PR people, I'll listen whenever somebody that's actually a CEO of the Nintendo branches says something.

Julie Gagnon, media relations manager for Nintendo Quebec.
She's not a rep, she's a manager.

Finally, what interests us most is the interview we had given Julie Gagnon, media relations manager for Nintendo Quebec, which has agreed to answer our questions! Xavier wrote a paper recently that Miiverse would perhaps not be available at launch of the console. Julie Gagnon has confirmed in an interview that this is precisely not the case, and will be well Miiverse available at launch console, provided that the latter is connected to the Internet! You just simply download it. Another size information was confirmed by Julie, even if we doubted their existence, an equivalent system of awards / success can be found on competing consoles will be present on the Wii U! We leave you with the interview with Julie Gagnon:

Nice digging.

Though I still bear slight skepticism to the words used.

Doesnt sound so mich like connecting to the internet to DOWNLOAD miiverse, but connecting to the internet to INITIALIZE it/your account.

I concur.

Taking all information into account she's probably letting people know that using miiverse does actually effect their download allowances, as information on what you play and others have been playing is downloaded and uploaded.

Downloading Miiverse would be stupid if Nintendo had you pay for it.

However, since that's not what's going to happen, it's not a big deal if you do end up having to download it first.
