I'm really hoping for a new monster hunter for any system (American release) Even though I'm a Nintendo die hard I'm also a Monster hunter die hard. I hope its on the Wii-u just imagine if you use the new screen controller for the bow gun/bow. But I had some major issues with Tri. Like to few monsters (big and small) No new quests aftr lvl 51 and they basically gave up on it. I mean Wii can have DLC and I would be willing to pay for Monster hunter tri DLC eveb though it has been out for what over a year? I still play it cuz the social interaction is the thing that is keeping it alive for now and they truly need to make a new one and it should be for Nintendo only (My opinion) to prove that Microsoft and Sony can't push them around. But don't get me wrong on this I love Monster hunter tri and I the disk breaks. But seriously the wii disk could hold alot more than the psp disk but the psp disk got like lets see about 3x's the content tri got and the ps2 did also. Come on Capcom I'm cheering for you (Not litereally unless you actually will make the next one for Wii-U) to make the next big Monster Hunter title. (P.S. If they do I will make a YouTube Video of me cheering.)Wow I wrote alot; sorry about that I love Monster Hunter. B)

Really? And that's just an HD port.

That's what I was saying, sort of.

An HD port is an entirely different beast than creating a new entry within the franchise for an HD console. There isn't anywhere near the cost involved with your average port than creating a game from scratch for more capable hardware. I hold to my statement Monster Hunter Wii U is very unlikely unless Nintendo foots the bill, or Wii U creates a larger market internally for console franchises. Capcom isn't going to just create a Monster Hunter game for Wii U for **** and giggles. Capcom is a company and like any company needs a financial reason above all to go forward with a project. There simply isn't any reason financially for Capcom to create a Monster Hunter game for the Wii U.

You are right abou this. The development of Monster Hunter Tri would have been too much of a cost if it was done on the PS3. The Wii U won't be any different. The console will have to show it will be a worthy investment to develop a game.

My point was that Monster Hunter sells great no matter what. Also Nintendo has said they're willing to invest in third-party exclusives for the 3DS and Wii U some I'm sure they'd give a moneyhat for Monster Hunter on Wii U. In fact I bet that's how they got Monster Hunter 4.

I don't rule out Nintendo potentially footing the bill for a Monster Hunter for the Wii U. My point is merely that Capcom doesn't have an incentive to create an entry within the franchise on the Wii U otherwise really unless Wii U proves to drastically increase the size of the console market in Japan. For what it would cost to develop a single Wii U title they could likely create several entries and spin offs for the handheld market, which ultimately would prove more profitable. Then footing the bill for a proper Monster Hunter for the Wii U would be considerably more expensive than footing the bill for the 3DS. Financially Nintendo may not see the point for footing the bill for such an expensive purchase especially when majority of the console market is the west where majority of their troubles are likely to occur.

Monster Hunter Tri is the only game that made me dance in front of the TV (especially after beating the Barioth). What an accomplishment. The fact that the game is incredibly hard is part of its awesomeness. Lacking of great weapons, I had to go the hard way: beating much difficult monsters online to get some good weapons and armors. And you know, the best thing in the game is that, whenever you see an incredibly skilled guy, you know he deserved it, which adds prestige to the good hunters. This game is awesome.

I love Monster Hunter Tri, but I would rather have a Monster Hunter Frontier for the Wii U since it has all the monsters plus more than what we originally get.

I enjoyed Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii, however to think of the possibilities of the series on the Wii U is awesome. It may not work in the Monster hunter style, but I would love a huge open "sandboxy" world. I would love to be able to scope out the prey from a far way off rather than enter a small area, wait for the system to load and then immediately see the monster. How cool would it be if you could watch your prey from a distance, note its movement patterns and then attack from any direction you wanted. (I just felt bottlenecked sometimes - like you would walk into a new area and immediately have to fight)

The 3DS sales haven't been poor. Currently the handheld looks to out pace the first year sales of DS. The thing is regularly the top selling hardware in Japan since the price drop. Nintendo simply didn't push hard enough with the 3DS to maintain momentum at its previous price, but the DS suffered similar handling. Monster Hunter is a Japanese focused franchise. This is why I stated that the only way Wii U would get a Monster Hunter release is if the Wii U sells well in Japan. So much of the Japanese market is handhelds thus why this franchise with most of its focus in Japan has for the most part stuck with handhelds this gen. Monster Hunter for the 3DS is a natural fit for the Japanese Market. Monster Hunter for Wii U not so much. We'll have to see if the new controller helps the console create a market significant enough to warrant Capcom making a Monster Hunter game for the console.

Monster Hunter originally went to the Wii because of the franchise's Japanese market focus. There simply wasn't enough of an audience for the franchise to warrant HD developing costs because primarily the Japanese console market is too small to warrant that sort of investment. Wii U is going to have to over come that issue if Monster Hunter is ever going to grace its library. The touchscreen controller may very well help the console in that regard.

Well actually I think its the opposite. It wont depend on how much the console sell. I think Nintendo has enough money to conclude an exclusivity contract with Capcom to make the Wii U sell well in Japan. So Nintendo would kind of advertize its Wii U with its excusive Monster Hunter. I agree though with the fact that everything would be settled in Japan first, since its a Japan focused series.

How come Monster Hunter isnt popular outside Japan??????? I just cant understand...

I think Jikayaki's (very valid) point is that a console version of Monster Hunter simply WILL NOT sell as well as a portable version, even though it costs more to make... at least as long as the franchise remains mainly a Japanese affair.

For reference, Monster Hunter Tri has sold roughly 1 million copies in Japan (the US numbers are rather abysmally low in comparison).

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, for the PSP, was released the very next year and has sold more than 4.5 million copies to date (and is still going relatively strong).

Console versions just don't make business sense to Capcom...

That's so sad. Imagine all the potential of that series on the Wii U... Let's wish its gonna change cuz I wont live long without a Monster Hunter on the Wii U.
