No no. My point is, these articles are making the Wii U look doomed in the 8th generation. This video explains it all.

These articles are real biased too. The Wii U is pretty fast actually so yes I agree.

Thanks for posting that one Dragon I understand things a little bit better now, YES all consoles have problems at the start, and it's nice to finally find out that the Wii U is a very powerful system.

Definitely. With that GPGPU, it has the power to make up for the slow clock speed of the CPU. Nintendo knew what they were doing.

Devs said the PS3 CPU was weak? Is this Shokio fabricating the truth? I know devs have had difficulty in developing for the PS3 but not that its CPU is weak.

Didn't really clear anything up if you ask me.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

I havent watched this vid, and i dont know who this shokio is, but i do know devs complained all the time about both the 360 and ps3 cpu's.

In order, deep pipelined, overtasked, crap branch prediction, a horrible HORRIBLE 500 cycle miss penalty. The complaints pretty much stopped overnight once the wii was announced. Lol, I guess they realized it could be worse

Are you forgetting the point of the video? All you mentioned was the PS3 part. He talks about how the Wii U is a GPU focused system with a GPGPU while the ports are CPU focused.

I didn't watch the video in its entirety and tried to get the gist of it, it's late and I'm tired so cut me some slack. :P Well I can only see the Wii U being a GPGPU focused system making it harder for devs to port to the system and take advantage of the hardware without adequate experience. How powerful the GPU is exactly I am yet to see but I'm not expecting great things to be honest, it just doesn't seem like a good idea to focus so heavily on the GPU and under power other parts of the system.

According to what's been found in the system, it's using a 5670. That's pretty good for a console.

If Nintendo didnt take steps to mitigate cpu load id be worried too.

But the wii u cpu has much less to worry about than the 360/ps3 cpu's. The system has been designed to take all unecessary tasks away from the cpu, with other processors handling tasks like audio (this often consumed as much as 30% of the 360 cpu), os, and system i/o like the gamepad streaming and video recording.

Nothing is explained in this video at all.

The PS3 Cell Chip was hard to program for, that is what the developers were saying at the time, what this guy in the video is saying is BS ! (in his words)

Why did Nintendo need to work with Ubi Soft etc to get the games to run & look good, because they were having a hard time working around the issues ?

If the Wii U hardware works with this GPGPU set-up to take load off the CPU via the GPU then by doing this you are taking away processing power away from the GPU.

A CPU is much faster than a GPU, but a GPU can do more processes than a CPU at any given time, but it does so more slowly, this is one reason why GPU's are used in super-computers because they can crunch data/numbers faster overall because they run more processes.

The actual issue is that the Wii U is only maybe half a generation in-front of the X360 & PS3 & not a full step in-front.

I am not a graphics whore & game-play over graphics every-time, but the guy in the video seems as much of a Nintendo fanboi as the Sony fanboi's he is ranting against.
