#318157 A Late-Night Stream of Consciousness

Posted by Xiombarg on 10 June 2019 - 05:03 PM

Hey Mourn, how ya doin? ;)

We need a reunion or something for this site.

Also, who is paying for this website still? I'm surprised it hasn't been taken down yet...

i'm doing alright, more or less. let's just say that i'm doing as well as i am willing to let on, lmao.

I don't know how I feel about a reunion, lol, this site had a lot of colorful characters. You can still find some of them offsite and elsewhere.

Feld0 is keeping the site up and I don't think he would be the sort of person to suddenly drop it without notice. There is still an unfinished story I might need to tell sometime about that, lol. Years back, on the previous forum Feld0 & I were members, the admin threatened to shut down the site multiple times & ultimately followed through with his threat, without anyone having much of a chance to back up anything.

I have kept an "eye" on things, which has basically just been an occasional glance one a week or so when I have been logged out. But activity has been so minimal to the point where there isn't really a point of my "required presence". I still feel a little guilty about how I mismanaged things now & then, but the past is the past. I am forever connected to internet forums due to my early years of being infected by a mid 2000's yoshi art forum, so as long as this site breathes, I will find myself back here regardless.

I don't know if anybody here will actually be able to find my "other" personas elsewhere on the web, I "retired" the Pyro/Mourn pseudonym a while back (outside of maybe my steam username).

I can PM you my discord. I don't use it often, but I kind of need to now that IRC is dead.

I've been learning video editing on the side as a hobby. I want to use what I learned in order to make a video on the history of WUF. I'm by no means an OG member, and it's going to require me to do a whole lotta reading on topics made before I even joined the forum. But I think it would be a fun undertaking.

Don't worry, I am not actually an "OG member" either, lmao.

#318022 Keeping the forum going

Posted by Xiombarg on 28 April 2016 - 06:32 PM

I don't really have anything different to say that what I said here, so...

http://thewiiu.com/topic/23198-future/

Things change, we all have to move on at sometime. To be truthful, I wanted to step down as admin a long time ago on this site. I never really felt like I fit the role well and I was always too lax with things. If the forum dies, oh well, but if you guys want to put in the effort to breath new life into it, go ahead. I might even try to help you out if your effort is good enough. But it's just how things seem to go on online sites like this, I've seen it happen before.

I might have pulled a lot of jabs at feld0, probably more than he deserved, but he is a busy guy too. I completely understand why he hasn't been around as much, not only is he running a more active forum, but he is heading a project for a community as well as juggling real life (and if I remember correctly, his aspirations and studies were a bit more higher shooting then mine). That's not to say there aren't some problems here especially with communication, but that's neither here nor there right now.

At the very least, my opinion of the site improved after the chatroom was removed, that was a real mess. In hindsight, nothing good came out of the chatroom and it was a major source of all the site's problems.

I mean, I can maybe try helping you guys with whatever you want to try next, but I really don't have the time for it anymore at this point in my life, so I don't know how much I can promise you.

#317749 Might No. 9 Delayed Yet Again

What an amazing franchise I am glad that I never paid one penny towards. So, when are we getting the 3 hour rock opera on ice?

#317683 New Year resolutions?

Posted by Xiombarg on 21 January 2016 - 01:38 AM

It's not really a new years resolution as I started around Decemeber or Novemeber of last year, but I've been trying to draw something or practice drawing again when I can or when I have free time again (it's not daily yet). It's something I actually enjoy and even if I might not be good at it, I want to get back into it again and maybe try to do some sort of comic project in the future.

#317623 Future...?

Others have tried.

http://thewiiu.com/t...e-go-from-here/

When Feld0 last visited here a month or two ago to fix a few database issues, he told me that if you guys wanted the forums tweaked to reflect that of the upcoming "NX" stuff, you would have to let him know.

Honestly, this is the best place to do it: https://twitter.com/feld0

Mourn tried contacting him by email or another way and didn't get any response or at least a timely one. I had tweeted Feld0 about database issues here and he was fairly prompt. So, if you have twitter I'd suggest tweeting him a link to this thread or just that you want thewiiu.com forums updated. The more tweets people send him the more he'll realize there is a demand.

I don't think there is very much demand.

This is pretty much the case here. There is really only so much that I can attempt to do now that I haven't already tried or will even be willing to try.

At this point in time, the forums aren't very active, but there is still a somewhat active userbase, some posting every now and then, and has a reletivley clear future of not going down.

But like Hype said, if you guys message Feldo yourselves, through Skype (or other means), the more he would realize there is a demand.

#317346 Secret Santa 2015 Sign Up

Posted by Xiombarg on 26 November 2015 - 08:43 PM

Well, after PMing sorcerer and getting a few PMs from other users, it seems like there is enough interest this year to continue the forum Secret Santa. The rules will be the same as last year, which are below:

Oh, look at that. It's almost December. For those who have been here awhile, I bet you know what that means. It's that time of year again.

Since people are interested in a secret santa event this year again, this is place where you should sign up. Sign up will end on December 1st. Santees will be assigned on December 2nd. So for those who aren't sure how secret santa works, each person who signs up will randomly be assigned a "secret santee" via private message in which you make something for them, it can be a wallpaper, sketch, writing, poem, lyrics, instrumental, video, drawing, ect. (basically anything that you make yourself.) You are not allowed to tell the person you are making the gift for them until gift distribution happens which is on December 25th. If you are unable to post the gift on December 25th, you can post it a day early. All gifts should be posted in the museum section of the forums and should be titled "Secret Santa 2014 2015". I expect everyone who signs up to actually follow through with it. To sign up, please reply to this thread, so I can put you on the list.

If there are any questions, concerns, or possible reivisons, please let me know. Once the deadline is up, I will compile the list and send everyone their secret santas/santees(?)

#317213 Moderators

Posted by Xiombarg on 11 November 2015 - 10:29 AM

Sorry it took so long to look over this. Usually I haven't been in the best of shape to admin this site when I check it, and as of now, I can't really say much as I just came out of my 4th all-nighter for this week. I don't know if this post is necessary, though.

Part of this was my failure to respond or notice the warning report. If a warning is submitted of a staff member, it should be handled by a different staff member, which was not done, so I do take responsibility for that.

As for advertising, Judd had gotten permission from me to advertise publicly (to which I don't know if he did or not), but PMs have always been free from the rule. Members have always sent links or advertised other sites, there are only two or so incidents where PM advertisements were an issue (like the WiiU Cafe or the whole xat thing).

I've been very busy over the past few months (though most recently I've been busy for stupid reasons including forgetting to sleep and other nonsense which isn't important) so I sort of need to pull stuff together again. I apologize again if this post isn't necessary, Judd's was probably enough.

#315898 Mighty No. 9 getting a live-action feature-length film

Posted by Xiombarg on 08 July 2015 - 12:31 AM

I'm not impressed. This is looking more and more like a cashgrab and possible franchise and less about making a good game.

#315881 Computer science or computer engineering

Posted by Xiombarg on 06 July 2015 - 07:00 PM

Ask yourself if you are more interested in hardware or software (also if you like intense math and the such). CS is all about the science involved with computers, programming, complex math, databases, networking, compiling code, and beyond. CEN is more geared towards the design and implamentation of computers, like building computers, robotics, and etc.

Game designers are usually CS dropouts or people who don't go all the way in the field. Hence the "Science" part.

#315565 Pokémon Shuffle to be released on iOS and Android later this year

#314960 Mother series (Earthbound)

Posted by Xiombarg on 18 June 2015 - 05:14 PM

I spent about 6 or so hours on the first Earthbound game and really disliked it. Due to my expierence, I haven't really wanted to touch the sequel or even Mother 3.

I know that the games are better and I might enjoy them, but I personally cannot go into a game if I still have the feeling that I'll dislike it.

#314959 Sony deserve to win this gen

Posted by Xiombarg on 18 June 2015 - 05:09 PM

Ok, that's enough of that. We get it that you hated Nintendo's E3 and you might hate nintendo. You've repeated it several times to the point of trying to push it on all of us, whether we actually cared or not. Some of us can ignore it, while others might not.

If your posts aren't going to encourage decent discussion and are just for venting or wanting a yelling contest, you will find that we will lock the threads and take action if need be.

But goddamn, it's been 2 days now, chill out. You can have a PS4 thread, but you don't need to make it an anti-nintendo thread too, it just gets tiresome.
