#50501 I don't even know.

... I suppose since I've gone through the trouble of making an account here I should have the courtesy to introduce myself.

Greetings, salutations, good day, and all of that various assorted nonsense.

With that out of the way, please allow me to introduce myself; I am zoop. I have stumbled upon this fine corner of the internet after a certain individual (who, I can assure you, will remain anonymous) lamented that he didn't seem to be appreciated by anyone here. It is my sincerest hope that we can, as a collective whole, all come together and not appreciate him together as one big family.

I kid, I kid.

To speak upon my own person, I consider myself to be an arrogant, spiteful, conceited, and at least somewhat narcissistic twit; I consider my status as being of such to be a fact of life, despite the fact that I've recently ran into a decent number of individuals that have attempted to convince me otherwise. Personally, I think they're all quite insane.

As I'm sure that the avatar (and soon-to-be-signature) has implied, I am indeed a member of the dread pony collective; but fear not - I am not the sort to push my unhealthy obsessions on to others, be it religious, political, of ponious.

In addition to watching - and somehow enjoying - cartoons made for little girls, I am also a fan of various and assorted vidya games and other such things.

And that is me. While I do not know how active I'll be on this side of Azuras, I may float in and haunt the place from time to time when I need a break from the candy-colored equines.

#65768 KONY campaign discussion

Posted by AMAC on 11 March 2012 - 10:51 AM

The video is very well made and effective, but I do have doubts about the credibility of the campaign. As others have said, Kony hasn't been active in Ugnada for some time and the Ugandan government aren't exactly angels either. I'm also struggling to see how donating money will help stop Kony. The campaign has raised plenty of awareness now, so donating more money isn't going to gain much more publicity.

#63692 Be able to like a status?

Posted by Feld0 on 26 February 2012 - 02:33 PM

There is no built-in support for liking statuses in IP.Board. I installed a hook here last year that added a like feature to statuses, but it wasn't very well programmed and caused a lot of errors. I decided to remove it when IP.Board 3.2 came out and I upgraded the site to it.

#50475 Count until. Pony vs. Non-pony edition.

My friends, I have traveled both far and wide across the vast collective internet to stand here amongst your esteemed and venerated number today, to share with you a very important message.

Eh, I think you have to actually get into the fandom for a little while before you make opinions on it. I know that some fandoms are very misunderstood. Yes, MLP has a dark side but its only easier to see because its a popular show. Nintendo is popular, but it is hard to see its dark side unless you search for it.

#49985 Origin of your username

Posted by GeneralCraezy on 31 December 2011 - 05:00 AM

Well after becoming a brony I began referring to myself as "Lady Rarity" on other forums even if that wasn't my username. When I joined the mlpforums I planned on using the name I had been going by for a while. At that time I the username was not currently in use but someone had used it and then changed their username which kept the name unavailable so I resorted to adding the simplest word in the brony fandom to my name...Pony.
Thus Lady Rarity Pony was born and I now use the name whenever I can. I did have a chance a while ago to use the name "Lady Rarity" after it was made available again by my request but by that time I had grown attached to LRP, LaRP and LuRP that I began to be called by so I kept my username after a few days without the "Pony" part. Now here I am as LRP!

Lurp!! I'm never gonna get tired of saying that btw ;)

#49288 My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

LRP got most of it in his post, about how the pony and Wii U communities are very different. But to add on to that, there simply isn't much for us to talk about around here yet. The members of TheWiiU.com are united by a common interest in a console, much like how the members of MLP Forums are united by a common interest in MLP:FiM.

The difference is, MLP:FiM gets a new episode almost every week and has spurred an incredibly large and creative fandom that gives fans many things to talk about between episodes. There is always something going on in the fandom, whether it's discussing new story details or the latest piece of fan music.

Meanwhile, Nintendo have pretty much given the Wii U fans nothing new since E3 2011. We can only discuss all the possible uses for the controller's camera or the incredible visuals of the Zelda tech demo for so long. Yes, there are many other Nintendo things to talk about, too; but there are honestly better, more active forums if you want to connect with say, 3DS fans.

As the world's largest Wii U forum (and by a long shot, at that), TheWiiU.com probably represents the greatest single conglomeration of Wii U fans you'll find anywhere. It just so happened that a significant portion of Wii U fans happened to be bronies, too; and when there isn't much of interest around here, it's only natural that they'll flock over to the forum where things are actually going on.

When we get a nice, big announcement, I'll send out a mass email that is guaranteed to give us a sweet activity boost - last time I did that, it brought over a hundred people online at once. This forum has the potential to become an interesting, active, and rewarding place, but Nintendo just needs to give us something worth chewing on or interest will naturally disperse.

The difference is that over in the MLP community we are people (ponies) brought together by a common interest in a creative, joyful and loving cartoon, but it becomes something much more as this common interest grows into long lasting friendships and people from all over the world coming together to share and teach and learn and for the most part spread love.

Over here on the Wii U Forums it is simply a common interest in an arguably gimmicky console and/or video game developer. Not much can grow off of that, sure you can discuss things all day long and share opinions but video game consoles are not the greatest seeds for growing connections.

Just a little bit of a mistake there: MLP Forums itself grew out of TheWiiU.com and its sister site, 3DS Forums. MLP Forums has this site to thank for its entire existence.
