3DS Streetpass Relay Spoofing

12 August 2013 - 03:11 AM

Okay well, I think this should be safe to post. Sorry if it's in the wrong area...

So I've tried out the whole thing, and after a day of tinkering, got it to work with the Nintendo Wifi Adapter dongle thing I purchased before I upgraded to a wireless router. Figured it was a better solution than constantly changing the router settings I share with my family. Kinda wanted to help people who want more StreetPasses but are stuck with this adapter by consolidating all of the information.

So I guess this is a sort of "guide" where 90% of the work is not my own lol.

For anyone who has no idea what I'm talking about, it's possible to change your router settings to connect to Nintendo Zone and Relay services in your house. Getting Nintendo Zone is quite simple, requires only an open connection with the SSID labelled attwifi, bestbuy, etc.

Obligatory warning that Nintendo says you can't make your houses Relay hotspots and I can't be held reliable if they meant that you're not allowed to, and not that it's impossible. :P

First off, the guide for people who are allowed to mess with their routers ;P.

Required stuff to use the Nintendo Adapter:
  • Nintendo Adapter
  • Windows XP (You can emulate it in VirtualBox)
  • This software and instructions.
  • And probably a PC directly connected to the internet by wire.

To start with, we'll be installing modded Buffalo drivers instead of Nintendo's, as it's just a rebranded Buffalo adapter. This allows it to work as a wifi hotspot for more than just Nintendo products... And is probably needed for the next bit of software that allows editing its settings to work on it. If you want to try the software with the original drivers you're free to experiment.

  • Step 1: Boot into Windows XP. I advise using VirtualBox if you don't have it on your main PC.
  • Step 2: Follow those instructions exactly, with some minor substitutions:

With that done, open the ASUS Wireless Config utility again. On the left select Config, in the Basic tab set a SSID. In the encryption tab, select Shared OPEN for Network Authentication and WEP for Data Encryption - I have found that this works with the DS. Now enter a WEP key. Go back to the Basic tab, and at the bottom click on Advanced, change the 54g Mode setting to 802.11b only. Click Apply on the left to save the settings.
I found that this was needed to have it work on my 3DS but YMMV.

Have fun! Now you can buy those StreetPass games! :D

Online Color Challenge

18 July 2013 - 10:52 AM

Want to test how well you perceive color? Want to make sure you're not colorblind? You should take this test. :D Because I'm nosy and want to see how people here score.

I stumbled upon this test while trying to prove to a friend that I'm not a tetrachromat just because I can differentiate between magenta and red. (Un?)Fortunately, I had a perfect score. Doesn't mean I am but that was hilarious. Anyways...

The test took me around 30 minutes and I got a score of 0 (lower is better). My friend took less than 10 minutes.... somehow... and scored 52. So I'm warning you that it's not a quick thing. :)

M$ Points VS Subcription for Gift?

21 November 2012 - 11:22 AM

Hey guys. Two twerps that I have to buy gifts for have 360s, and I'm wondering which would be better? I'm not exactly sure of my budget but I don't really want to spend more than $20 each as I have 4 twerps in total. It sort of depends on how much it costs for me to go to Nintendo World and buy Piplup merch for one of them. Since she's not into Pokemon (as far as I know) but somehow likes piplup. Yeah, I don't get it either.

I'm looking up to see if there's any sales on them but so far I just see $12.49 for a 3 month Gold membership (apparently 50% off), and $19.99 for 1,600pts at GameStop. O_o I expected 2,000. Is it worth buying such a short sub? Are the points even on sale? Lol

If anyone's spotted any other deals please let me know. Thanks lots. :)
