#84620 Ubisoft's ZombieU

Posted by ArnarFB on 05 June 2012 - 04:26 PM

Did u learn about the new zombie U features??????? It turns me off a bit... They posted that in my country.

You know why it says " HOW LONG CAN YOU SURVIVE" ?

Because there is NO saves, No checkpoints... If you die, you turn into zombie and the game ends...  Here is the bizarre part.. You have to start over by creating a new character.... Each character got a bag with survival tools and weapons... If you died and turned into zombie... Your new character will have go all along and find,  kill your old character!! and claim the bag with survival kits and then continue even further!!!   So the game is TRULY a survival game hahahahahaha...  It sounds bizarre.. is it.

You don't have to create a new character or start the game from the beginning, so to speak.

It's a one-bite-kills game. Which is "realistic" if you think about the zombie thing. Isn't it like that? One bite and you're out of luck. Coming up, zombie-you? Wait, now I get it... ZombiU...

When your current character dies, you start from the safe house as a new character, get new missions (or continue what your old character was sent out to do, I guess, somehow the game has to progress). You have minimal amount of things on you, if any. You encounter your old zombie-you, kill it and go through his bag in search for items you knew you had, like guns, ammo, information... something. I think it gives the zombie story a more of depth. In Resident Evil and many other zombie games, why didn't they turn into zombies after they got bit? So it gives it more depth to encounter the older character, to know that this guy was a "living person" just minutes/hours ago, not just a braindead zombie.

I read the IGN description of the demo and it got me really interested. You don't encounter zombies very often or in big hordes (Left4dead), but when you do, it's terrifiying. You kill them, go through their belongings in search for anything and when you do so, you have to look down on your U-pad and then in fear, look up to the TV and look around you. It makes sense. The U-pad is the bag, the TV gives you view of the surrounding. Search in fear. Don't get all comfy though, there might be a zombie sneaking up on you while you go through anothers' bag.

It better be... I think the whole Nintendo fanbase is in shock. We need something to excite us after that snoozer.

#80141 Controller update

Posted by ArnarFB on 22 May 2012 - 02:25 PM

I'm sure the square button next to the power button is the magical screen switcher. It wouldn't make sense to have it on-screen, like in the zelda demo. Just press a button and it probably flips through a few sets the developer or user had pre-set. Some games might have pre-set screen switches, others might allow the user to set what the screen might display and then switch between a few custom settings.

Examples:

Setting 1 = Main game with HUD on TV, map/items on controller
Setting 2 = Main game on TV, HUD, items and map on controller (clean TV mode, I will cry tears of joy if this becomes real)
Setting 3 = Main game with HUD on controller, map/items on screen (+ button needed to switch to item screen here)
Setting 4 = Main game with full HUD on controller, TV not used (full streaming mode)

#79459 Ubisoft employee leaks a massive load of Wii U info!

Some of these things he listed seems plausible, but some seems completely bull. The Xbox 8s GPU better than the Wii Us? Then why is Epic complaining about the Xbox 8 and PS4s specs while only praising the Wii U? AND A 6GHZ DEV KIT?!?!?! I don't know of any computer out there that runs that much, or if it even needs it.

That's pretty powerful. Maybe the Wii U is the beginning of Skynet... once it gets self-aware... and maybe Reggie is T-800?

#78657 Wii U console redesign will be shown at E3 2012- IdeaMan

Posted by ArnarFB on 16 May 2012 - 03:43 PM

I hope so. The Wii U looks so dull and boring, the original Wii was rather dull but still stylish I guess, but the Wii U is like a watered down version of that. Not a fan of it at all. So bring on the new version please!

#78645 Wii U menu

Posted by ArnarFB on 16 May 2012 - 02:56 PM

I used the second Wii U menu concept I did as a base and made a "simple menu" system for it... I think.

Maybe a bit PS3ish on the start menu, but when you move your Wiimote cursor over the text, it goes gray, press it and it illuminates and out pop the different submenu items. They'd hover in the air and the background text blurs out. If you'd press a submenu text and hold the button, you could theoratically move the text around and the other submenu items would move in "spherical motion" with it. Think about a simplified Minority Report...

So lets just roll with it... Minority Report goes into custom folder system with movable folders and then into media player

1. Here we have the "simplified Minority Report". Imagine you're using the Wiimote here and you hold A over "Internet Settings" and move your arm around. The rest of the settings submenus roll around in a spherical motion, you push the Wiimote towards the screen and "Internet Settings" goes deeper into the screen while for example "Audio settings" comes closer. If you'd move "Privacy settings" up into the left top corner, "Controller settings" would move down into the right hand corner. Just a fun little thing to mess around with.

2. Now we're going to play some music. (I added the "Pictures" menu at this stage, just to point that out.)

Posted Image

Here we have a folder view, you can see a button up top that could switch it into list view or even icon view, I dunno... You could arrange your folders any way you'd want. Lets listen to some metal...

Posted Image

Here we have some artists. Some folders have been customized, others have not. I want to listen to Mastodon now.

Posted Image

They've released five albums, here I arranged the albums in line and in order. Every album has its cover added to the folder. Lets go to listen to... The Hunter.

Posted Image

So here we have a little media player with track listing and a little info about the album. I paused it, so I wouldn't scare ya with the loud music, since I've got the volume turned all the way up :)

Anyways, just a fun little thing to imagine. Enjoy (or maybe you won't)

#78357 Rumor: Nintendo to offer Wii U cloud storage for save games and player profiles

So, work on it began in the future?

#78178 Wii U menu

Posted by ArnarFB on 13 May 2012 - 11:21 AM

It will almost certainly be just a generic menu like Wii/3DS but I hope for something unique as the posted fanworks. One important thing is by the way, that you can start the game quickly and with one press on the button. The first thing we should be able to do is in the menu is press A or touch an icon and play the inserted game immediately.

I had an empty space in the lower left corner I thought could be used for random purposes, depending on what screen you're on. I put a "PLAY!" magic button there, that if the player had the menu on his U-pad, he could slide his left thumb down to the button and instantly go to the game in the tray.

Posted Image

I wonder however if the U-pad screen could display this menu in its "big screen"-intended form or if there would be a "dumbed down" version of it needed. Like for the boards and friendlist, the white and gray text beneath the thread title and user names, it would not be displayed there on the U-pad, but instead be displayed in the thread itself or selected user profile. I guess it would get a bit cramped on that cute little screen, no? Another solution would be fewer thread titles and friends displayed on the U-pad so the white and gray text can be displayed.

I'm just thinking out loud and getting feedback from you.

Just a few little changes

- Wii points in upper right corner
- U-boards threads can be opened in different tabs
- Number of new messages from friends in friend list
- In U-Chat new messages from friends in another window shown in number of messages
- When chatting with someone via Video Chat, his or her name in the friend list glows.
- Leaderboards added to friend list, "Friend leaderboard", seperate from the Worldwide Leaderboard found on Wii U desktop (like the one I had on the first concept)
- Shadows added to text and boxes given a more "pop out" look.
- White myst-line in the background, the background would be slowly moving to give it a more dynamic feel and look.

Probably the best concept menu i have seen to date.

After staring at it for a while i realized that it looks really similar to the onlive menu.

Thanks. This Wii U menu was supposed to look like a modern version of the old Wii menu. More sleek, more "today" and more of everything, I suppose. Simple yet complete, I guess.

When I posted this on IGN boards, I was asked why there were three big icons with games in them. The thought was one was from the disc tray, one from an external HDD and one from SD card. So I made a slight change, notice the icons that portray where the game is being loaded from:

Posted Image

Then, people wanted folders. Folders! Put your stuff into FOLDERS! Folderzzzzzzzzzah! Foldermania, it's global.

Posted Image

But these folders are rather flat and boring, so how about a user-set, custom photo for each folder?

Just slight changes. Nothing big.

First post here, been a long time reader just never registered. Had to say hi when I saw my little Wii U menu ended up here.
