#64204 Assassin's Creed III Protagonist revealed?

Posted by NovusRex on 01 March 2012 - 08:07 AM in General Gaming

I'll probably love the game, regardless of the setting. The artwork looks amazing though and it seems real to me. I just hope the city/location is varied enough and has plenty of free running options. I really have no idea what the cities were like in America at that time ^^,

#63601 Pokemon Black 2/ Pokemon White 2

Posted by NovusRex on 26 February 2012 - 05:16 AM in General Gaming

I don't care if it's only for the DS, I will love this regardless.. Most likely ^^, In the future a Pokemon 3DS game will come anyway, I can wait for that. I hope they improve the online functionality a bit though, GTS, Online Subway (e.g. fight together with a friend on the other side of the world), etc. More worlds (which is rumoured) would be great aswell.

#62138 Sony's new chief says they are going to make “unavoidable, painful choices”

Posted by NovusRex on 17 February 2012 - 04:53 PM in General Gaming

I wonder how much that will make a difference. The large budget for marketing. I think most people that have a certain amount of interest in the Vita already know about it, thus marketing seems a bit.. pointless. Ofcourse you might reach a new audience, but I don't think that audience is large enough. Perhaps they should use the money to reduce the price instead for a certain time. Ah well, let's see what it does.

#61571 Sony's new chief says they are going to make “unavoidable, painful choices”

Posted by NovusRex on 14 February 2012 - 06:22 AM in General Gaming

I see it more likely that Sony will depart the gaming industry, than leaving other electronics. A new Playstation requires a large investment and thus money, which they don't appear to have at this moment. Other electronics are already established and require less investment, so it seems more likely to me that they stick with those relatively cheap products. The PS Vita might change things though, but if it flops it might be another reason to leave the gaming industry (for the upcoming generation).

#61511 RUMOR - Ubisoft's 2012 game lineup (Assassin's Creed 3 on Wii U)

Posted by NovusRex on 13 February 2012 - 05:51 PM in Wii U Games and Software

True that, and Assassin's Creed 3 is out in November as far as I know. It might be a launch title then, that'd be very nice hehe.

#61482 Playstation Vita Console/Launch Game North American ratings according to IGN.

Posted by NovusRex on 13 February 2012 - 04:03 PM in General Gaming

Not much related to the Vita itself, but the replies on the IGN review.. Kind of sad.

There are some interesting titles (soccer, marvel vs capcon) but like I posted somewhere before: I won't buy a second handheld. Don't have the money and even if I did, it's seems a bit overdone. It's good to see the another handheld in the market though, it seems like a quality product. Way too expensive (and yea, all those smartphones and Apple stuff is way overpriced aswell) for a handheld machine, atleast for what it is worth to me.

Posted by NovusRex on 13 February 2012 - 03:28 PM in Wii U Games and Software

I'll definately buy Creed 3 if it comes out on the WiiU. Love the series, would love to see how the gameplay would be on the WiiU as opposed to the pc. Anyway, looking forward to it ^^,

#60589 What will Ur username be in Nintendo Network for the Wii U?

Posted by NovusRex on 09 February 2012 - 03:48 AM in Wii U Hardware

NovusRex, Novus Rex, Rex Novus, RexNovus. One of those should be possible ^^, Don't know if the name can contain spaces.

#60588 Are You Getting the PS Vita?

Posted by NovusRex on 09 February 2012 - 03:46 AM in General Gaming

I won't be getting it. I'm not a huge fan of handhelds, the DS and stuff that came before that I bought mostly for the Nintendo titles. I'm not hating or saying titles for the Vita will be crap, because that's ofcourse not true. It's just not worth it to me, the full price and then the games.

#60432 Im kind of in between...

Posted by NovusRex on 08 February 2012 - 09:59 AM in General Gaming

Call of Duty 4: Good game. Annoying at times with the airstrikes and choppers, but still. I had fun with it.
The sequels: not good. Uninspiring, unoriginal and dull. It's good for gamers that want new maps and weapons and perks. However, a game that costs 60 euro should in my opinion offer more than just new maps and weapons thrown out. I consider the sequels more like expansions than full games. The single player is way too short aswell, a problem with about every single FPS game nowadays.

So, that's how people get shiny legendaries, and it seems a bit... simple.

Indeed. Though chances are that a lot of shiny legendaries are just hacked.

Really, how would it do that?

Quoted from the Smogon website: "There are many seemingly random events in Pokémon: the IVs and natures of the Pokémon that you capture or breed, the number of steps an NPC walks before turning, or the odds that your newly hatched Totodile is shiny. As it turns out, these events are all governed by the output of a class of mathematical formulas, which are known as pseudo random number generators. The word "pseudo", often used to paint things as "fraudulent" or "false", is very appropriate in this case. Even though the numbers output by these formulas may appear to be random, they are not. Each sequence begins with a single number, often referred to as a seed, and continues on in a predictable pattern.
As the seed determines the sequence of numbers that will follow, it is important that it is different each and every time you play. If the same seed was chosen each time, the pattern of numbers, and how they affect the game, would be noticeable over time, breaking the illusion of randomness. To alleviate this potential problem, the developers decided to create the seed using something that should be different every time you play: the date and time on your Nintendo DS. By doing some light math on the individual components (year, month, hours, etc.) of the date and time, a "unique" seed is created each time you start the game.
There is an obvious flaw in this technique; we can change the date and time on our Nintendo DS systems before we start the game. With knowledge of how the date and time affect the seed, it is possible to choose a combination that yields a desirable result, allowing us to control the sequence of pseudo-random numbers that is generated. Coupled with the knowledge of how the game uses those numbers to create Pokémon, we become the creators, picking and choosing desirable traits, removing any remaining vestiges of randomicity."

Let's say you want to breed a Totodile. The Totodile will have a random stats, all his stats (hp, attack, defense, etc.) will be generated. However, some wiseguys discovered that the stats given to the pokemon isn't random, but follows a pattern. If you know the pattern, you can affect the game. Stats given to pokemon is roughly the same as whether a pokemon will be shiny or not, it follows a pattern aswell. I can't really explain it better, but have a look at the second link in my previous post. Take a look at the steps taken, I bet 95% of the people who do it, have no clue what they are actually doing :P It's just move to a certain spot with certain pokemon in your party, Reset the game and write down the time shown on the startup, and continue with the other steps. It doesn't make sense at all to me, but it works lol. Some consider it cheating, others don't. Most large communities approve of this method, however I'm not a big fan. It's like playing God of the pokemon in a way, deciding what genes the pokemon will get and what colour (shinyness).

That's correct. From Generation 3 to Generation 4, you need a DS that has a Game Boy Advance game slot. DS Lite has it, the old DS itself has it. From the DSi series, the slot was removed and as far as I know you can't get pokemon from generation 3 to generation 4 then. From generation 4 to geeneration 5 is a bit easier, all you need is two ds's (any ds will do, or 3ds). It's in the Poke Transfer lab, behind White Forest/Black city. You can indeed do it after finishing the game.

A shiny tentacool would be nice hehe, especially when it involves. Tentracruels can always be usefull ^^,

About the RNG, have a look here. http://www.smogon.co...ead.php?t=52180 and here http://www.smogon.co...g/dpp_rng_part1 (more specific about hatching shiny pokemon). A lot of technical blabla and I don't do it myself for two reasons: too lazy and I don't have all the things I require to do it :P To keep it short, it forces the game to hatch a shiny pokemon from an egg, after doing a series of steps. It's not very very difficult, but it is boring to do.

Does anyone have a shiny Pokemon (preferably Eevee) that they no longer want?
I think I have shiny Buizel in Pokemon Heartgold I can transfer to Pokemon Black.
If so, I can give FC & all on Friday or Saturday.

Wish I had. In my life time I only encountered two shinies, both with Gold (generation 2). A ratata and a sandshrew lol. About the only way to get a shiny Eevee is by RNG, or whatever it is called. I don't know if you know what it is, but it's a method to encounter a shiny pokemon in generation 3 and 4, I think.

I think I have it, I traded my Palkia anyways, the thing is I'm a Pokemon noob and I don't know if you can trade crap on Pearl to a Platinum game.
But I do have it.

You can. Diamond + Pearl + Platinum work together. Then there is Black and White who work together.

Weird, I think I typed in the 3DS code instead of the Pokemon Black code. Anyway, here is the correct one: 2322-8858-3923. That one should work :P I have no idea when it's 7pm mountain time though, lol. Anyway, I'll be lurking around most of the day anyway so we'll probably end up together at one point.

Btw, when you reply, use the "quote" button. Then I'll get a popup at the top of the screen, so I know right away you posted here.

#59375 Dragonball WiiU game

I think it's guaranteed aswell, and I like it :P I just hope it's a quality time, not something rushed just for the sake of getting a DB game to the WiiU. With updated graphics and Wii-controllers stuff, this game has a lot of potential. *drools*

Hello all I joined this forum because I found that a lot of people don't understand the terms used when describing the Wii U's console "Power" and a lot of people don't really understand how console hardware and software work in relation to the Wii U

Me me me! Lol, welcome aboard and I'm looking forward to learn some stuff from you ^^,

#59238 Really important job for us all

Posted by NovusRex on 02 February 2012 - 01:37 PM in General Gaming

If a game is great, people will buy it. Now more than ever, with internet as a great medium to reach people (in a cheap way). All the stuff the vidkid is talking about "people only buy triple-a titles", it's not true.. Atleast not when there are other great games. He must also realise that a lot of games that come out are carp and not worth spending so much money on. A few examples of games not released by Nintendo that would sell regardless:

- GTA franchise
- Assassin's Creed franchise
- Elder Scrolls franchise
- FPS shooters of the famous brands (e.g. Call of Duty, Battlefield)
- Sports series (e.g. Fifa and Madden NFL games)

The problem with the Wii was that the most famous games were simply too powerfull for the Wii. Also, with a console like the Wii you can expect that third-parties will have a hard time, considering the new tech and playstyle. The WiiU is likely to be powerfull enough to make third-party progammers happy and we sure can expect their famous titles on the WiiU aswell. One thing that the vid isn't mentioning is this: people don't buy stuff they don't know.. It applies to all consoles and pc aswell. If you make a brilliant game for the PS3 from a rather unknown developer, chances are high it won't become a succes. It's nothing related to Nintendo. I'm not the least bit worried that there will be a lack of third-party games and games that will actually sell well.
