I think those are the only console redesigns Nintendo have ever done.

The N64, Gamecube and Wii just received different colors.

As for Wii U, perhaps they will do a version that could stand vertically?

Does anyone know why the Wii U is only placed horizontally?

The Famicom redesign is horrible, seriously, wtf is that thing.. lol. Also the controller is basically a SNES controller, was it out before or after SNES?

In the uk many retailers often sell pre-owned wii's for as low as £40 and these are the early type with full gamecube compatibility with gamecube memory card slots and controller ports. These are great which I've got 2 off.

Later wii's have no gamecube compatibility and the gamecube ports are removed and are far inferior and yet cost more to buy even pre-owned.

If the wii u follows a similar path probably 2-3 years into life they will fully remove wii compatibility and charging more for it.

I'm certainly not waiting for the revision. I may not buy a wii u at launch but will probably get one within 3 months of launch or 6 months at the latest.

THE NEWER WII'S DON'T HAVE GC COMPATIBILITY / CONTROLLER PORTS / CARD SLOTS?!

OMG THAT'S HORRIBLE! Well I'm glad I got my Wii early. I've got a crap ton of GC games.

The system hasn't even come out yet and we are already talking about redesigns, isn't it a little soon???

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

I lol'd. It's not even out and you're asking this? Thanks for the chuckle.

This statement is false. The previous statement is true.

RIP in peace Nintendo.

Yep, it's rediculous, this is a question to be asked 2-3 years drone now at the earliest. Hahaha

Look at the Wii. The only redesign they made is removing GameCube functionality, and that didn't happen until they were ready to drop the price of the unit significantly and use the removal of said functions as a cost saving measure. The same could be applied to the Wii U in regards to Wii backwards compatibility, but I really don't see that happening because of the need to support Wii games (after all, it is the Wii U.) Plus, the new eShop is sure to contain games written for the Wii that will be playable on the Wii U. Removing Wii backwards compatibility would really hinder the progress they've made so far. I have a hard time believing that they'd do a Wii U revision. I think it's more likely they'll come out with a bunch of different colored systems and I'll be jealous enough to double dip when a color of my liking drops. (I also hope we have a choice between white and black systems at launch!)
