I hope you ca install games on the Hard Drive like the 360 does. Or maybe come up with a security system that allows you to not need the disk, but also not let people install the game on 10 other Wii U's just by borrowing/renting it.
They could just let you download it from the Wii shop if you only need the disc once.

Some people aint got internet comnection, plus it takes longer time to download rather than just install from a disc.

This is why I suggested SSDs. No, actually, a better idea is to get an SDXC card to USB adapter.I can wait, i dont like the idea of installing a game that i have a disc for, add onto that the fact that you still have to insert the disk to play a game THATS ALREADY TAKING UP SPACE ON THE HARD DRIVE! im fine with waiting a little longer and the flash memory will enabl faster Downloads (especially for me, having fibre optic internet)

I thought the rumor was 16 gb of memory. But the 3.0 support is still needed. If wii u will only have 4gb flash as rumored/mostly confirmed, they better not skip usb 3.0 support. Only 4gb will force people to use external HDDs, and thats real fun when you cant use its full capabilities.

Google search tells me that the price for SSD (Flash Memory) will drop to $1 per GB next year. It also tells me that the current price is $1.50 per GB... For a low quality SSD. I can't find the price for the highest quality, only a comparison to signing over your firstborn.Lol I thought the rumor was 8GB. Either way it's terrible though, flash memory is so cheap that there's no excuse for Nintendo not to include more. I'll be raging just as hard as everyone else if it doesn't have significantly more memory.
Now if you consider that Nintendo goes for durability when making consoles, and that they are likely going to pre-load a bunch of files onto some sort of paging file on the SSD to drastically reduce loading times, they aren't going to skimp on SSD quality.
Estimate: The assumed 16GB of Flash Memory will increase the cost of the console by $50. You guys sure you want more?

You have a point, Maybe Nintendo should make different models each with a different amount of memory, but something tells me it is highly unlikely.Google search tells me that the price for SSD (Flash Memory) will drop to $1 per GB next year. ...but that could pose a problem. I remember reading in an article somewhere that, because the systems don't have a uniform amount of HD space, 360 and PS3 developers have to be more mindful of what they make for DLC and stuff.

On the other hand, this could be considered a good thing... Devs can't just expect to be able to release the other half of the game over DLC anymore....but that could pose a problem. Good point.
I suppose I'd ultimately choose affordability, with the option to expand my hard drive space, over uniformity. Besides, what if a system stock hard drive space were to suddenly run out? Erase data?
Nah. Seems like external memory makes more sense to me.

I think Nintendo should go for the hard drive this time around, if they use an SD card, I will be highly upset.

If they don't use an SD card, I'll be upset. Hard Drives are great, but I don't want to bring my clunky 500GB to a friends house just to use my Rune Factory save file >.>Hard drive's seems to be the best choice. One, it's very reliable. Two, you can transfer data between one hard drive, to another.

Of course, I'm pretty sure both have been confirmed so there's not much to worry about

The $300 form will have no Hard Drive (however, you can purchase one at a later time if you should want to) and will use external memory to save.
The $350 form will have a Hard Drive (The amount of gigs is TBD) and can also use external memory to save, and you can transfer data from the Hard Drive to the external memory card.
Just my two cents on it anyway.
