"We did actually create versions of Pikmin on 3DS and Game Boy Advance, but they were versions that I wasn't really happy with until we came to this version on the Wii U and I finally felt like I was able to create the Pikmin game that I wanted to create."

Ehh, I'm not upset. The GBA one probably was heavily restricted due to hardware limitations and the 3DS one probably was them seeing if the 3DS could handle Pikmin 3 (when it was being developed on the wii).

pikmin 3ds would probably be pretty bad. The cpu just wasnt built to handle a game like pikmin.

They probably was creating Pikmin 3 for the 3DS Back when it first came out, then hated it and moved it to the Wii U instead. The GBA one am not surprised they didn't like it.

Surprised it didn`t ended up on 3DS. Even if the graphics were Wii-like, it had the perfect setup for it to work.

Pikmin 3 would be so cool for the 3DS.

No, the 3ds hardware is terribly suited for pikmin.

The cpu absolutely cant handle the ai of just the pikmin alone, let alone the enemies they would fight.

And playing a game of pikmin with just a small handful of pikmin would be a very different experience.

A 3DS version of Pikmin would be great.

A GBA version would probably be laughable.

Portable Pikmin would have been nice, maybe on the next handheld, GBA's limitations would have been too bad unfortunatly.

If they made a 3DS and Wii U version that would be cool, like the 3DS one being a sequal to the Wii U one, but smaller.

As much as I would love to see Pikmin 3DS, as people are saying, it would probably be scaled down because of the CPU. I want a full fledged Pikmin experience not anything scaled down

I remember hearing about a potential 3DS one. Never heard of it possibly being on GBA though.

Seems as though a handheld Pikmin game would make it difficult to see everything going on with all the tiny little Pikmin.... If they could overcome that obstacle then I'd be all for it

I love me them little Pikmins :3

Isn`t 3DS as powerful as a Wii, at least?

If Wii could play the first two, why not another entry? I can understand that it wouldn`t be the same experience, but it wouldn`t be that far behind it.

It's comparable in some aspects, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D looks pretty darn close. I think it would be interesting, trouble might be in all of the separate pikmin running around on screen, could create some lag issues, frame rate unless something was compromised.

3D in pikmin would look really awesome I think and controls using the touch screen or stylus and circle pad would be a nice fit.

I have no idea how both HW works, but i guess that if Nintendo cut back on some textures or something they could easily put the same number of Pikmin and enemies on screen.

I don't think a pikmin on a handheld would work very well... The CPU power just wouldn't suffice.  You would have like 5 pikmin, and a single on screen enemy max <_<

I was once known here as KillerMario, but since I really like Banjo-Kazooie, I changed my display name to show them my respect :)

Textures and geometry is gpu work, The 3ds has a pretty dang good gpu, good enough to exceed the wii in many areas. It can likely draw plenty of pikmin no problem.

The problem is controlling them, their ai, would be too much for an arm 11 and its vfpu to handle.

You would have to 'billboard' (attach many characters to a single ai routines movements, theyd all move at the exact same time in the exact same direction) which would degrade the pathfinding, and behavior, and thus horribly break the games dextrous control over large groups of pikmin.

During many parts of pikmin, each individual pikmin was controlled by its own ai, and compared to other strategy games billboarding was kept to a minimum, its what made pikmin, pikmin, and set it apart from other rts's.

Without it, pikmin would just be a simplistic ant themed command and conquer, which is likely exactly what mr. miyamoto didnt li,e about the gba and 3ds attempts.

Too bad it didn`t work for 3DS. Would be a great fit to the console.

Maybe next gen, then.

How the the 3DS' CPU compare to the Gamecube's CPU? I ask since the first Pikmin was on GameCube.
