The Wii U is now £149 for the white when and even the black wii u's price have dropped: £199.
If you're living in the UK, I'd advise you to pick one up anytime soon if you haven't already.

I don't like this. I read on NintendoLife that ASDA isn't doing Wii U anymore since it hasn't picked up. The holiday games should drive sales starting with Pikmin 3, but whenever I read something like this, it worries me.
Some people always have a cellphone on them. I'm so awesome I always have a 3DS.

Well I bought the Deluxe set on a limited time sale too for 249€, which is 100€ than its usual price.

Converted to Canadian dollars those prices are $235 and $314 respectively. The basic is an awesome price (just slightly more than a 3DS XL), but The Source has the Deluxe for $300 (191 GBP)

UK prices include 20% sales tax so £199 is close to £165 before VAT and its £125 before VAT for the basic model.
Asda are discontinuing the wii u and its software for the moment.

I pity all the people who buy the Basic in the sale just to get out cheap. Even at this price point the Basic Bundle is pretty bad in terms of comparative value. Really think Nintendo need to scrap the Basic altogether and get a White Deluxe out as well (Yes, I'm aware Japan is doing such a thing). And once they get that out, the price could be dropped to a more affordable, universal $300 price point.
Though I guess this has little to do with the topic... To keep from getting too far astray: Anyone looking into purchasing a Wii U on sale, don't get the Basic. Unless, for some nonsensical reason, you want to rip yourself off in value just to have a White system.

This is a tragic but funny story. My wife and I recently split up for a while (tragic bit) and I went back to my mums to stay for a while, I had to go to asda to by new bedding n stuff for the spare room I was staying in. it was a horrible day I was in tears picking up a douvet for one, even the staff felt sorry for me. After I got my bedroom stuff I thought im gonna get a new game to play to take my mind of it all so I went over to the game section and through my tear filled eyes looked for the wiiu stuff, I was stressed and upset so I asked the teenager behind the desk where the wiiu games are. He laughed and said "mate, we here at asda wouldn't stock anything for that pile od s#@t" after that I broke down in the store wanting to die lol
Hope everything is alright now.

Nintendo hasn't dropped the price of the Wii U and even if they did its unlikely they would give away any free games.
