Do you think Satoru Iwata should stay CEO or do you think someone new should take the reigns I can see both sides of the argument but the only reason I could think to keep Iwata is because he knows how to get sales think about it the 3ds, wii, and ds all of these systems have sold extremley well with the wii and the ds selling over 100 million worldwide but I feel like some of Iwatas' policies are kind of old fashioned for example his policy not to pay for third party support and exclusives like microsoft does with Call of Duty or Miyamotos' policy ( Miyamoto arguably has just as much influence at Nintendo as Iwata) having a firm stance on local only multiplayer like pikmin 3, super mario 3d world, and several of his other games I understand that local play is more fun than multiplayer but I have a friend that lives in Washington and I live in Alabama and we would love to play bingo battle together while talking on skype or both of us play super mario 3d world together but Miyamotos old fashioned policies prevent us from doing so I think with new minds at Nintendo there could be a lot of change for the better like more 3rd party support and more timed exclusives so what do you think do you think we need new people at Nintendo if so who?
Someone New or Satoru Iwata?

Don Mattrick seems like he would be an excellent acquisition, shouldn't be too hard to bait him out of Zynga
He seems to have a favorable track record, a good way with the public , strong leadership qualities, and most of all that "Im ready to win" smile

We need a new CEO someone who understands the "WESTERN GAMER" i confident Iwata doesnt. we need someone that will fight for us and put some fear in companies like EA and Take Two interactive. Demand that their best efforts be given for Nintendo platforms and work with them to some degree when designing your consoles so you arent being counter productive with the games and hardware you release.

I'd say get someone younger in to make some changes, but keep Iwata to help out the company.
Don't get me wrong i like Iwata he does create some amazing things but Nintendo could use a little boost with new IP's (I know about the one Miyamoto is making, but he also said he was making a new IP on the Wii and it ended up being Wii Music), a non linear Mario game, Online on games that make sense (aka Star fox 64 3d, 3D world, Pikmin 3 multiplayer, NSMBU, DCKTB etc) I don't have friends IRL who play Nintendo... Yet... so playing online with my online friends would lead me to buy a game even more, and it would be more fun.
Well, I've finally found my Starfox, and I love it.

Did he have great third party support for its console during its lifespan?

I think iwata should stay.
With iwata we got ds (over 100 million units sold)
with iwata we got wii ( over 100 million units sold)
with iwata we got 3ds (selling like hot cake)
He seems to know what he's doing, even if he is "old fashioned" and he seems to care about the company and it's employees.

No and I think that Iwata is doing a great job sales wise but for the gamers that can only buy one console he isn't doing great I think that if we brought someone new in they could do a better job for the gamers more WiiU timed exclusives and more 3rd party support and I know it's possible because Nintendo has ALOT of money like a couple of months ago I heard that they were sitting on 9 billion dollars and EA no matter how petty they may be they would port any game nintendo asked them to if they threw a little cash there way but Iwata has stated he doesn't think he should pay for 3rd party support

yeah he really does I didn't even think about it but he does seem to care but sales isn't everything ,well to the company it's everything ,but I think he could pull an even wider audience with 3rd party support (which he doesn't want to pay for) could you imagine the sales numbers if the wii got 3rd party support and was slightly more powerful I'm thinking maybe over ps2 just maybe if Iwata would have thrown a little cash towards devs for support

I think once sales pick up we would see more 3rd party. He does seem to have a couple 3rd party partnerships though, ninty payed for bayonetta and w101, they also got a 3 game deal with sonic as well.

He's the reason why Nintendo has crap 3rd party support.

I don't necessarily think Iwata needs to go, I just think we need people at Nintendo who understand the needs for a consoles hardware to get 3rd party support and better marketing all around.

I know but don't you think Nintendo could easily fix there 3rd party support problem if they threw around a little more cash I know they are doing a couple of things with platinum games but if they threw around more money they could fix the 3rd party support problem because I'm sure no dev would refuse to port their game to the WiiU if Nintendo was like we'll pay for the port so the dev just gets raw profit and I think I heard somewhere that a port usually cost $100,000 correct me if I'm wrong but with 9 billion dollars Nintendo could buy a couple ports or a couple thousand ports if they wanted to

You want to know a reason why 3rd parties still hate nintendo? This guy right here.
"If we reduce the number of employees for better short-term financial results, employee morale will decrease, and I sincerely doubt employees who fear that they may be laid off will be able to develop software titles that could impress people around the world."
- Nintendo president Satoru Iwata explains his company's philosophy on staff layoffs.
Iwata shouldnt go anywhere,

Iwata shouldnt go anywhere,
thats something I agree with he truly does care about this company and the people working for it and I don't think he should go I think there should be maybe an advisor I don't know what his/her title would be but someone that has influence and will try new things that Iwata won't

It really isn't that simple. Yamuchi really ruined the reputation of Nintendo. He didn't want to upgrade from catridges (this pissed off 3rd party developers) and pissed off Square Enix when he said that RPGs are for depressed gamers. He also waited a long time to give Square Enix a developer's license, I think on the GBA? Could be mistaken. He was bitter they jumped ship. He was a man that was very egotisical and old-fashioned. He talked trashed about third party developers any chance he got and he made it seem like developing for a Nintendo console was the greatest thing in existence. When he left, he left Iwata with a damaged company. Iwata has greatly improved the damage he's done, but keep in mind the damage he did simply can't be repaired within one generation cycle. Iwata is heading in the right direction now with Nintendo. He's helping 3rd party companies by funding the development cost of their games, bringing new ideas to the table, and overall trying restore the lost trust between Nintendo and 3rd party developers. People come down too hard on Iwata, when the man came in Nintendo was pretty much close to its last legs. If the Wii and DS wasn't a success, Nintendo probably would of dropped out of the console business.

very well written and I agree I don't think he's doing a terrible job sales wise he is a freaking genius considering the Wii, the ds, and the 3ds and I'm almost positive the WiiU will be in the high 70 millions by the end of the generation I think that they should bring in someone to specifically deal with 3rd parties and he won't have final say on things but he will have input
