Microsoft will ‘reintroduce’ the Xbox One in a live press event that is intended as a fresh start in their relationship with the media and consumers. They will directly address the concerns about the Xbox One and start generating positive momentum in time for the November launch.
According to an inside source after the E3 conference there was a massive and frantic ‘internal review’ of every aspect of the Xbox One compared to Sony’s direction with PlayStation.
The 24 hour check-in and disc-DRM policy was reversed to prevent the negative press becoming so widespread that it damaged the Xbox brand. Every other criticism has also been examined to see if it can be improved. Multiple changes have been made and Microsoft feel confident in a product they know the public will respond well to.
There have been discussions about creating price parity between Xbox One and PlayStation 4 by reducing the Xbox One price to $399/€399. Conversation has centred on bigger losses per unit sold versus loss of sales traction.
180 your mistakes, Microsoft.
Rumor: MS to re-introduce Xbone at $399 price point

How on earth are they going to drop it to $399 and still keep the kinect bundled and not have to eat up all those massive losses per unit....
Doesnt seem possible

Microsoft will record anything that seems funny through the kinect and make people pay $60 a month to watch them.

If this is true, good for Microsoft. They've successfully taken care of 95% of the system's problems so far. Now just make the Kinect non-mandatory, and they'll have cleaned house.
I probably still won't buy one though...just not interested.

I don't think this is "good for microsoft" at all. If they sell it for this price then it shows that Microsoft were being greedy (as usual) and overpricing the console in the first place.
It's shocking that such a big company knows so little about consumers and has had to pull so many u-turns (assuming this is true of course).

If they do 180 everything they F'd up on they still won't gain any trust since that's what they planned from the beginning. The only reason its priced half a thousand dollars is because of that damn kinect 2.0, they can't just remove it because they have expressed countless times that the spy device will be used and be compatible with all their games like unimaginable things like the Kinect will recognize you and will assign you to your settings like a favorite thing or putting the arrow to your main chacter in Killer Instinct. I still won't buy it I mean it has a fancy launch but they still need more exclusives to win me over. Xbox Original had a great launch, not so much in the later years besides Halo, Xbox 360 had a great launch, didn't have enough exclusives besides getting DLC 1 month early, now with this, I really don't know.

I'm calling this fake. They have said from day one that the Xbone requires the use of Kinect. It's the whole "experience". There's also a rumor going around that the Kinect costs as much as the console itself to make, so I don't see them releasing it for $399 unless they re-work the entire interface. It would be the smart thing to do, it would sell more than the current price, that's for sure.
Still not going to give my money to a company that tried to screw me over.

It's too late for that, Microsoft, the Xbox and the Xbox One brands have been damaged already. This current state they're in is going to haunt them for years to come.

If Microsoft are considering this, it must be due to the level of interest and pre-orders of PS4 I would of thought. It's difficult to know the full story there as there doesn't appear to be any figures anywhere stating how many ps4 and xbox one consoles have been pre-ordered. Alternatively its because they realise the technical weakness of the xbox one vs ps4.
The xbox one is currently £429 in the UK (we have a 20% sales tax though) and to be honest that is not a good price for the hardware on offer. I could make myself a PC console that would be more powerful except for no kinect easily for £429. I'm tempted to go down that route to be honest as the xbox one just seems to be a weaker version of the ps4 hardware and there isn't many Microsoft exclusives I'm bothered about, I'll miss Halo but thats about it.
I feel the xbox one will do well though but the ps4 seems a much better fit for myself.
