Any actor besides Ben would be better. Sorry but I just don't like his acting.

Everyone said the exact same things about Heath Ledger being the Joker, and that turned out amazingly. Wait until we see a scene or trailer of him as Batman before we judge.
And people thought Michael Keaton would ruin Batman when it was revealed.
Of Nelson and Murdock. Avocados at law.
Attorney at day, vigilante by night.

It doesn't matter because the film will probably be bad anyway.

I don't care who plays Batman. I just wanna see a good film.
Hi, my name is Alph. I live on a planet named Koppai. I am famous for saving my planet from starvation. My best friends are Brittany and Captain Olimar, NOT Captain Charlie. I like surfing the KopNet and playing Kopetball.

I have no animosity toward Affleck.
He is a man who has tried hard and found success, fallen and came back stronger. that's rare.
Congratulations to him.
But he is not batman.
That said, I am probably the only human being alive who still doesn't quite think Chris Evans is Captain America in the ideal sense, though he makes his own version of Cap work very well. He is like a more impulsive, weaker, more naive version of the comic Super Soldier. Yet, this new, different Captian America is easy to accept. He mostly looks the part, he has physical presence, and... the script is right for him.
Batman is a different story.
He is dark. Brooding. very sharp and intelligent. and intensely physical in combat. A bodybuilder martial artist.
Michael keaton, one of the most non-Bruce Wayne looking people on this earth, did a pretty good job back in the day, even with the lack of physical presence.
Val Kilmer was alright, if a bit out of his comfort zone, but not Batman. George Clooney was Adam West 2.0. Not in a good way. Not Batman.
Christian Bale had set the standard. He is not classically good looking, but enough that he can carry the part. His acting was spot on and you identified with him in the first two films.
Bale was also the first batman that we have had in a while who had the physical presence to be believable. Not some old, soft guy like clooney, not some skinny weak looking guy like kilmer's version. And definitely not Beetlejuice.
Bale was the closest thing in Hollywood in terms of someone who was identifiable with the character, actually could act tremendously in a variety of roles and characters, and who had the physical presence to actually be viable as a crime FIGHTER.
Affleck, can act one way successfully. Outside of that, he fails.
He doesn't LOOK like Batman, so I don't think a return to the Cooney/Kilmer era is the right direction.
He is not a physically impressive person. so again, the Clooney/Kilmer comparisons come up.
He isn't that great an actor. But the script can get around that.
The other side is, he has weird facial movements. And I can see it looking funny when the cowl is on.
Kind of an irritating sight. some faces just arent' meant for it. See Daredevil (and no, the lack of actual acting their isn't a good Batman promo. LOL). Now imagine with a pudgier set of jowls.
In the end, he is being forced on the moviegoing public and comic books fans. And people will end up ok with the idea. And Affleck will no doubt be groomed into the role, as would ANY actor assuming the character.
But now, before it happens, I don't think it should be him. And it's a shame that another actor without so much hollywood baggage and his future ahead of him instead of behind him doesn't get the shot.
Sure, marvel hit gold with Downey jr. and he basically MADE the new marvel movie resurgence. And I can see how Snyder and Co. are thinking this may be their Downey. Especially with similar personal circumstances. But that's a much different story. And everyone knew from the get go that he was going to be a perfect iron Man.
But Affleck... He is not Downey Junior. and he is no Batman.
But he will be Batman. And that's the way it is.

THANK YOU. I said the exact thing on the 3DS forums and all those ogres laughed at me.

I suppose we will find out how he is when the movie comes out. I'm at least going to give him a chance.

Cavill is perfect a Superman. Affleck could play Green Arrow or somethhing.
Not a buffed up martial arts expert/gritty detective with a scowly side.
runner runner is affleck trying to play a serious, tough, gritty drk character. and even his performances in the previews are cringeworthy. He just sucks at that. Give him a role where he is just sad a lot or he plays some irresponsinble party person and hes ok.
But for the love of God, keep him away from the freaking Batcave!
All that progress away from the West/Clooney Batman and into a true cinematic legend thanks to Bale done away at a moments notice with some of the worst casting ever.
I'm sure Snyder likes him. I'm sure Afflecks agents are working overtime. But please, someone with authority here... please make it stop!

I'm not going to judge until I see him in the Batman suit.

that's kind of the problem.
People don't want him IN the Batman suit.
The entire internetz don't want him as Batman.
He will be in the suit though. but it's a forced deal. Affleck has proven by his acting that he isn't the Batman "type." Watch the "Runner Runner" Preview to see him in a serious role that's kind of dark. there is a point where he has a pivotal acting moment and yells at his subordinate. It is so forced and ridiculous that the entire theater that I was at Saturday night busted up laughing during the preview.
He is cool in parts he is cut out for.
Batman just isn't meant for him.

Heath Ledger was w wildcard. he was versatile and could act in any number of ways.
Being the Joker sort of allows for an "out of character" flare anyhow, because he is so crazy.
Affleck is not a wildcard. He is a known, limited quantity. And Batman isn't someone you can just completely redefine the personality of without demeaning the character.
And just LOOKING at affleck. He has two looks:
1) the annoying party guy with no real thought in his head type of look.
2) The washed up, aging, out of shape sad guy type of look.
It's going to happen, so it WILL end up working on some level.
It's just that it could have been so much better.
