It's been debunked several times. People have been predicting the end of times for centuries. I don't think they'll be anything that will cause extinction on earth. Not to say it will never happen, just that I think it's impossible for us to predict.

I'm I had a dollar for every time the world was supposedly going to end, I'd be rich.
Of course it isn't happening, we know very well that there will be signs and that they haven't yet happened to the extent that the Bible says they will. (Yes I am speaking from a Christian perspective, I understand that a lot of you aren't Christians, but a lot of religions say something similar.)

You've got your atypical insane/mad people predicting the doomsday date found in who knows where? Bible patterns? Mayan Calendar? Comet tails? Volcano Eruptions? This is absurd! I can see the next time Hailey's comet passing arround more doomsday entusiasits will say "that toxic gas in the tail will engulf us all!"
