All of the wii controllers and the gamecube controller will be able to be used. As for games, they might put gamecube games on virtual consoles or the store.they will have for sure, wii games.
GameCube controllers are out a long with GameCube backwards compatibility. The Wii U is merely backwards compatible with Wii. This mostly is because the ports for GameCube controllers and memory cards has been removed.

Yeah, Wii U is not bc with gamecube it's been confirmed. However, it's likely that GC games will at some point be on the Wii U's virtual console so it doesn't really matter. If anything it will be an improvement not having to use the gamecube's horrible controller.
I think you are the 2% of people that actually think that. The GameCube was the best controller in terms of comfort.

Yeh, that's my guess. It would be strange to not have it on there tbh. There's even non-nintendo stuff on it.Ten Internet bucks say GameCube games will come to the Virtual Console.

But file size is a bit of an issue. The GameCube disc capacity is 1.5 GB. You won't get a whole lot of content on an SD card, but an external hard drive will work. I have a 250GB external hard drive, but I have it hooked up to a computer. If there was some way to have the Wii U have access to my home computer network, then I can connect to it.
Plus the download times will take forever!

Plug an external hard drive in, and the file size problem is solved. My local Future Shop sells 3 TB USB HDD's for $180 apiece. But file size is a bit of an issue. The GameCube disc capacity is 1.5 GB. You won't get a whole lot of content on an SD card, but an external hard drive will work. As for download times, there are ways they could be minimized and made less of a problem. For one, even though a GCN disc has a capacity of 1.4 GB, not all games actually used all of the space. So not all games will necessarily be a 1.4 GB download.
Second, if Nintendo has a download queue that allows the game to download in the background, then I see no problem with initiating the download of say, Super Mario Sunshine, and gaming away for an hour until it finishes. There are no technical restrictions to prevent this, and the Wii U could simply pop up a little notification when it's done.
