Just think about this for a second. While most situations are more adapted to the same view from the other two games, a first-person view could really immerse the player during combat sequences. Imagine seeing a Bulborb up close or chucking PIkmin from the viewpoint of Olimar. With the Wii U controller, this works twice as well; one screen could display a third-person view while the other displays what the captain is seeing, in addition to gyroscope control.

I mean, this mod is almost halfway there regardless. What do you guys think?

What we do is, if we ever need that extra push over the cliff, you know what we do?
We put the volume up to eleven. One louder.

But doesn't this series have you controlling a small army (essentially).

I really don't see how 1st person helps the player, if anything, makes a player less aware of what is happening.

Trophy Cards are classy too! LOLZIGZAGOON

You're probably right, but you could get a lot of information or plain eye candy from seeing things closer up and above you, and other games don't seem to have a problem with the lack of awareness.
Plus, I likely won't be using this myself. It's just a suggestion.

Edit: Oops. I forgot to mention that the first-person view would be entirely optional.

I don't think a first person view could work with Pikmin. Although it's a simple RTS there are still quite a lot of things you got to keep track of. Like enemies and traps and where your treasures are at any moment to make sure your Pikmin aren't about to wake a bulborb up and destroy all your progress. Plus the series already has sort of a real close up camera if you want to get on Olimar's level view. You can just Press and Hold R and you're right in the action. Though it's still in third person.

I would like a 3rd person from behind view. Like Ghost Recon Online.

I like Pikmin the way it is. It's perfect for such a game.

Perhaps some parts of the game will utilize first person view while most will be the normal third person.
