Halo 4. So good because they copied metroid?

But I'm actually kinda serious.
Spent some time with some colleagues and halo 4 was a big part of that.
First think I noticed when into the actual gameplay was the inner helmet view, where you actually have a metroidesque HUD as well as the outline of your visor. Just like... Metroid. It's more subtle in Halo 4. They don't want to be too obvious.
Then there is the level design, the enemy movements and patterns. Very Nintendo-like and very metroid- like. At least the new enemies.
Then there is the whole emo chick story. Like other M.
I mentioned this at first since it seemed so obvious to me within 10 minted. At first my colleagues were dismissive. But after thinking it over for a good couple of minutes, most of them saw the same things.
Just thought if share my own observation here. Anyone else confirm? Or have a different take?
I can't wait to see what Nintendo has in store for the next metroid.

To me, the inner Helmet outline and HUD were jarringky obvious copies.
Don't get me wrong, I see the merits of Halo on its own. It's a brilliant franchise, has great mechanics, an interesting story progression, decent enough character progression, and 4 takes it all the new heights.
But I believe metroid was their inspiration to do so - graphical disparities aside.
Most of my colleagues are graphics guys, UI designers, etc. so we appreciate UI design (which halo 4 has nailed perfectly) and graphic excellence (also a high point of halo 4).
But it seemed that the pacing and the new types of animations and movements were at least inspired by metroid. The "inside helmet" HUD overlay definitely is.
And halo is better for it.
It's interesting to see different takes.
But the burning question I have is - if Hslo 4 turned out so well, is it the perfect time for a new metroid? And if so, how many people will accuse Nintendo for copying 343 when Nintendo originated the concepts that are similar between the two.
I just hope Nintendo has the best developers on it, because metroid is a game that is meant to be a graphics showcase while also being a great fps.
yes its very similar... lol (2002)
2012...
Don't understand the LOL part, since those images prove my observation -apart from the obviously better alpha transparency and gfx quality of the more powerful system and some subtle differences that help it not to be an exact replica. Even lOok at the round indicator in the upper left on metroid simply relocated to bottom left on halo 4. Lol

Halo 4 is good on its own merits, its HUD being similar to Metroid does not mean they copied it and it does not make it any less of a good game.

I hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it, and you were incredibly right. I did go back and replay some of Halo: Reach, and after reading your post, it became very obvious that you were right!
As I previously said, that was interesting, and the first time I heard that!
It was a very good observation.

I agree. The only reason FPS games are so damn popular is the fact explosions and gunfire subliminaly effect the dull human mind more so than good gameplay and story.ah with that being said all fps are about the same.
The HUD are at most just changed up a lil bit.

So it's not a coincidence, although that isn't a bad thing. This will tide me over until a true Prime successor comes out on the Wii U.
Hard to tell the difference between the Space Pirates and a Forerunner haha.
