#97928 If Wii U fails to get 3rd party games who's to blame?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 06 August 2012 - 12:07 PM

Nintendo mentioned, early in the NintendoNetwork announcment, that when they spoke to devs about what they wanted in an online network... they all said "flexibility" (pretty vague). Nintendo intends to make it flexible (as far as I know), which means many different possibilities online. Nintendo may have a small advantage here.

As for the controller... yeah, its prepared for the next gen. Sony doesn't seem to change their controller much, and Microsoft isn't terribly ... creative. So the most they will do, is a touch screen. I'd say a level playing field is coming on this front.

And as for power... well because it's coming out first, and because Nintendo has spoken about their focus on game design, rather than powerful hardware.... well I expect it to be weaker than the competition. This means if (later in the generation) an Xbox or Playstation game comes out that is very complex, it will not be ported to WiiU. And this means ... bad. But I expect it to be to a much lesser degree than the Wiis late lifecycle issue.

But Nintendo knows they will need third party support. And Nintendo has acknowledged their poor 3rd-party support. They do seem to be working to fix company problems... one of which (used to be) difficult to work with.

Oh yeah... this isn't fake at all, in any way, and is not obviously fabricated by some forum goer. Seems ONE hundred percent legitimate in every way, shape, and form... *cough*

#75908 What do people think about Nintendo & Sony?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 29 April 2012 - 02:21 PM

Its a "love-hate relationship" for me too.......
By that i mean i love Nintendo, and i am slowly beginning to hate Sony.
I can tell just by seeing their games , consoles ,& services that Sony doesn't give a rat's ass about the gaming industry. They don't care where they take it, if it continues to be an art, or if it fails miserably because they just want "games that kickass"... and money.  What i'm saying is Sony tries to extend the gaming industry..... as if its an industry (online passes & possible disk locking, constant retail partnerships, an easily abused stream of DLC, movie-games). They are... not what i want the industry & art to go towards, and not something i want to support anymore. Nintendo just keeps on truckin' with well made, creative games that deliver what i want. They further gaming as an art, more than as an industry... which is what i want. NOT EVERYONE wants that and i understand. But Sony is extending the gaming industry further than i think it can go right now. They say that they use onlinepasses because they lose thousands of dollars in used games sales.... Well then maybe they should make games that people WONT WANT TO TRADE!!! And if these people will trade perfectly good games that they will want to play in the future... then they are not a good market, they are outside the stable gaming market. Sony wants to get these people to buy their product, while Nintendo has branched out to people who enjoy the details in a videogame, but didn't play before because of a control & marketing barrier. I feel this is a pressing matter and if Nintendo dies.... gaming will live in the Indie developers. This is important to me... and that is why i hate Sony.

... Microsoft is a little fishy... im not gonna yell at them, but i'm keepin' my eye on 'em.

#75901 How can you out-do the existing Networks?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 29 April 2012 - 01:58 PM

I was wondering (over on another forum... n00bpwners) HOW could Nintendo go above and beyond the PSN? Comparing it to XboxLIVE wouldn't be fair as that is a paid service, while free networks must run on only game profits. BUT HOW? The WiiU could have some extra design tweaks to allow for a better networking experience. Both during & after gameplay. Maybe an extra bit of dedicated proccesing & RAM for constant networking... or something else. On the other forum i posting this:

"Well, Party chat seems likely with the WiiU (as it SHOULD have a good amount of RAM) and the fact that the controler has a Mic in it should influence this. The Wii actually had a headset (but i think only one game supported it) and it also had that WiiSpeak thing (i have it... useless because i dont have any friends to play with and i dont play MHTri anymore). But i think REAL TIME VIDEO CHAT could be cool. Although in intense games it is useless, in a casual/ slower paced setting (such as MarioParty, or a turn based game) it could add much to a gaming party system. Also the idea of cross game chat is cool..... but what about cross platform... Like WiiU to 3DS, or PS3 to Vita (vita supports crossgame chat, but PS3 does not) Even windows phone to Xbox! Or skype integration in steam! And that would also allow for a seemless jump from walking home talking , to Getting home playing a game and talking, to Playing together... talking. And to go even further... what if some games (as some sorta do this now) allow for Ghost data to be posted on your profile. Even transfer items to a friend who need indirect help in a game , although this is less integrated into the console itself.

BUT, data sharing over the console's network has been doen... why not take it a step further? Instead of just transfering a custom level... why not transfer Custom backgrounds for a Home Menu, or create Freind Only  Game specific  Network compatible  Community leaderboards and tournaments. Think about getting your buds together, they all see that You and "DarthGamer" have beaten ... i dunno... 100-Man brawl in 5:00 minutes. This is posted on a Freind Board With yours and DarthGamer's name next to it. Then you can set this Posting to active, revealing a button that says "Challenge" or something. They can challenge your exact scenario (hit the button, it loads up 100-Man brawl with exact settings) and if you are online while they are doing this, you could spectate & Chat while they are challenging your Leaderboard post.
Couldn't this be AWESOME? To integrate a full online community right inside that console of yours. Windows, Xbox & PS3 integrated the Achievment / Trophy system. Why cant the next wave of consoles integrate the COMMUNITY SYSTEM. Where games are enjoyed with friends at any time you wish. Think of it like that status bar that tells your friends what game you're playing... except with full chat, video spectating, and private integrated leaderboards. I think it could be done if somebody tryed."

This is mostly centered towards gameplay... but i really mean ANYTHING involving the network. What could Nintendo implement to give it an edge. What have they already implemented (this will change as the thread gets older obviously), and what do you think about it? Is it useful? how?
Please get creative... i like it when the forum surprises me.

#68720 Super Smash Bros. 4 Discussion Thread

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 31 March 2012 - 07:15 AM

I want to see 2 or 3 special attacks for each player aside from the normal A/B attacks. These either have a cooldown time or are charged based on amount of damage dealt. When ready, you hit a button on the screen and you unleash a move with less power than Final Smashes, but more than regular attacks.

I also have an idea of a whole set of abilities that every character has access to (some possibly being unlockable). Before a match, you choose two or three of them to have at your disposal during game. These are switched in real time mid-game. These aren't moves, but conditions (the only similar thing I can think of is Pokemon abilities). An example would be having resistance to projectiles or a one-time cushion to a move that would send you flying well off the stage

I hate to be.... hatin'... but feels a lot like loadouts and custom characters. I just mean, sure you could add super meters, abilities and custom character things... but that ( i feel) would bog the game down. This series has grown, and is great, because of its simple fast-paced fighting. Along with that, it has deep fighting strategies and a few of its own. I feel what makes this game great isn't the wacky items and amazing stages & soundtrack (although it does help... a lot) ; it's the simple control scheme that drives you into a fast and complex game and doesn't let go.
But i can see the appeal of those things... i guess what i'm saying is... put in a vanilla mode for me.
And that comment goes well with my next statement,
Speed it up a bit, SSBM was criticized for being too fast, so they slowed down SSBB ( jump physics were slowed, items were slowed, and combos were a little bit slower making it easier to chain together). Just meet it in the middle, slower than SSBM but faster than SSBB.

#68719 Reflection on Nintendo: People Hate Success

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 31 March 2012 - 06:59 AM

Well, something you have to take into consideration is nerds have a culture... and any videogame fan has at least a little bit of nerd in them (maybe geek is more aproriate, nerd is usually attached to intellegence).
Anyway... Gamer Geek  Rule #1
Anything you remember as being good (whether or not you've played it since) is and always will be good.

Gamer Geek Rule #2
Things that are under appreciated are either reallly good, Or really bad.... no inbetween

Gamer Geek Rule #3
Constantly be paranoid of change... There is a 99% chance that they changed the wrong thing and ruin your favorite franchise / company.

Gamer Geek Rule #4
If someone else does not like your favorite games... well ... well... WHAT ARE THEY?... w.. whhhhyy!!!!!
IF OTHERS DONT LIKE IT... IT ... IT WONT CONTINUE!!!!!  AAAAAAGGH. WE MUST CLEANSE THE MARKET OF THE NON-BELIEVERS !!!! VON SCHMIN VIZEARNER!!! NINE NINE NINE!!!!

#61096 What is Nintendo hiding?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 11 February 2012 - 07:27 PM

The last time Nintendo revealed specs of their systems, they got laughed at by nearly everyone. Do you know when that was? Gamecube era. Nintendo has learned not to reveal specs because that's all some people care about.

Just to be clear, Gamecube was the most powerful console of that generation... what were they laughed at for?

But yeah, some people dont pay any attention to games, just spec then gone. If you're going to choose a console with the best specs (i don't think many people here make that choice based on specs but... if you're gonna) choose, PC!!!

Also, just because Tekken 3D runs at 60fps but without 3d does not mean that is the limits of the device. Most devs have no idea what they can run a piece of software at until they look at the specs given by the publisher. I'd like to point out (although Tekken3d IS a fighting game) MarioKart 7 (made by Nintendo) runs with 8 players online at 60 fps with zero lag and no drop in performance or framerate

#60918 Why the 3DS should not add an Analogstick

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 10 February 2012 - 07:40 PM

As far as the circle pad pro goes, i have no problem with that. Accessories rarely have such a huge effect (nunchuk and classic controller were sorta alternate primary controlers) on a system. BUT! Many people want Nintendo (including a well known reviewer Victor Lucas whom said these prospects on television) to add a second circle pad on the 3ds. I have a problem with that. I hope Nintendo doesn't crumble to the pressure, they left out the second one for a reason and likely a good one.If they added one to the edge of the 3ds (under the face buttons) they'd have to move the power button, and make the 3ds drastically thicker because the computing components are in that area. I dont want my 3ds thicker because its a portable system that i want to slide into my pocket (which i can do right now) and carry anywhere anytime. Most of Nintendo's Japanese audience does a similar thing as videogames out in public is less unusual in the country of future technology (yes, there is a lot of more advanced tech in Japan... it's true). The point is if they wanted to add a circle pad they'd have to change the shape of the 3ds or take away from something else (e.g.: battery size). Even if they managed to shift some stuff around and keep the size you have a problem, the only position left for a circle pad is not suitable for analog control. I find with the D-pad where it is (essentially mirror of hypothetical second pad) works because, although as i move my thumb to the outside of the 3ds (left) it gets harder to angle my thumb on the buttons; it does not comfortably reach. BUT this is a digital-pad, on /off control, once my thumb gets a little bit to the left i have activated LEFT. But with an analog i would need to be able to reach to the edge of the 3ds comfortably to be able to push all the way. The result would be a thumb pain and slow right turning camera controls. Sorry for the rambling but im trying to convince you that it simply won't work because the stick is too low and close to the edge. This is why the accessory positioned the stick off to the side (because they could've easily engineered a pad that is under the face buttons and flip away for closing the 3ds). Did my arguement get through? did any of this make any sense? DID IT!!?? I'm sure people with small hands might find it fine... but not most people.

In conclusion: NO... second circle pad bad!
Would have to make the 3ds a bold size
If second pad was under the face buttons it would hurt.. reaching to the edge, and therefore using the full analog stick, is difficult for my slightly smaller that average hands
SO..... if nintendo decides to make another 3ds model that adds a second pad making the 3ds worse (in one of the ways i said)... we will torch the Nintendo headquarters..

Is there anyway that adding a second circle pad without taking away from the 3ds? Would this even be wanted (is shovelware immenent with it?).
Do the forumz stuff.

#58766 Nintendo losing profit and how will they fare in the future?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 31 January 2012 - 08:42 AM

Nintendo is massive... more massive than many think. They lost a lot of profit but they can take several of these hits before submitting. This is a global company that has some of the highest games sales rates of any game developer & publisher. Nintendo lost stock, that is true, and they will gain it back because people still enjoy Nintendo games & therefore the company is valuable. The day Nintendo fails to make good games , or people stop appreciating thier games, is the day Nintendo dies. Im pretty sure 97% of forum members here are Nintendo consumers, and there are hundreds of Nintendo focused forums out there (i admit that is not enough to sustain Nintendo but it just shows they are still beloved). Nintendo has a long history of great game making, i doubt they're gonna throw it away because of a bad year. Plus Nintendo really lost money because of the sloppy 3DS launch and the lack of Wii games combined. From what ive seen they have realised they cannot make enough games themselves to keep a console running. I've also seen evidence of trying to attract more devs to there console (eg: flexible online system, easy to develope for WiiU, free advertising on Nintendo channel / video) I think Nintendo is s smart company and people just doubt them because of the Wii, but people don't completly realize what the wii was meant to do , and what they want to do with the outcome. They will continue for at least 10 more years, Satoru Iwata is a good president for the company and we should only be scared once he steps down , or when Shigeru Miyamoto does..... Anyway they're doin goooood, and they will return to a normal success in 2012.. im sure of it.

#58289 WiiU Renaming Suggestions (New Names)

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 28 January 2012 - 07:18 PM

I dont like WiiU because it sounds like a continuation of a Wii franchise... and that franchise was known by nearly all non-nintendo gamers as casual, suck-the-money-out-of-your-grandparents toy, and usless as a gaming platform.... needles to say i did not like those people..... But i think the name Nintendo will be recognized by the more "once in a while" gamers, while the console will be constantly stared at by "full-time" gamers... So as long as they recognize its Nintendo then the Wii name is a little .... pointless. I dont think they need to name it after the predicessor (i know it has worked in the past.... and the other 2 big companies do it... but dangit i like to see what names they come up with!)... I voted Nintendo Stream (i know toilet jokes, but cmon that's temporary), but i find UNES a pretty good choice too. Most gamers are more concerned with the games & services the console offers not the name.... so i dont feel the name needs to some how convince people to buy it, it just needs to represent the situation. AND YES in the Iwata Asks interview they had said they named it WiiU because it is everything they wanted to do with the wii that wasn't possible and it is supposed to be a more widely appealing wii.... but i feel for it is more of a return to Nintendo's focus on power in a system rather than size, energy use, and "once in a while" gamer friendly. What i mean is WiiU is coming after the Wii , which introduced a new generation & new audience to videogames. Because of this they needed it to be cheaper, smaller, and make games less threatning (well for the most part... not all games got this). Now that they have been pulled in NINTENDO WILL GO FULL FORCE ON BOTH HIGHLY CLASSIC BUTTON COMPLICATIONS AND MORE FRIENDLY GAME TYPES!! THEN THEY SHALL RULE THE WORLD!!!!... i have to0 tread lightly on this topic... but basically what im saying is: The Wii was a more non-gamer friendly deparcher from the standard formula of gaming consoles. NOT a bad one, Nintendo still kept their quality in game making. But they had to sacrifice some energy to pull in more people into the market that is VideoGame Sales... they may have very well saved the gaming industry ahead of time...THANK YOU NINTENDO.... but now they have these new gamers in the loop, and can create any game they wish while stil keeping this audience..... i hope nobody kills me because of this....anyway... The wiiU is not the same bold move as the Wii, its seems a little bit closer to the regular formula that Wii stepped away from.... therefore it is not a "Wii" move... its more a "SNES" move.... catch my drift?

STILL A GOOD MOVE THOUGH... just want to clarify
I LIKE IT TOO

#51516 Wii U Compatible With HDMI Cable(s)?

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 05 January 2012 - 09:38 AM

As far as i know, any thing that uses HDMI uses the same plug for both ends of the cable. Also (as far as i know) there hasn't been any update to HDMI like to USB and soon SD cards, because it handles what it needs to as is. I think it'll work, but if not you can always play with RCA cables..... or Composet..... or the new fantangled WiiU HDMI... that doesnt exist. Or just push your face into the wiiu and absorb the images through you Frensecular gland......

#51514 Should the WiiU have a USB3.0 on the back

Posted by SleepyGuyy on 05 January 2012 - 09:29 AM

The WiiU seems wonderful... in fact IT IS WONDERFUL. But many have immediatly criticized the fact that it uses a small amount of flash memory for its internal memory (i think it was 8GB). It is also said, though, that the WiiU will support USB (2.0) for storage. I know nothing is finalized but i think this is a great idea, some users hardly use any internal memory with their consoles so they get this at a fair price, while others can expand using external memory. It also takes SD cards but they only go so high. What this thread is really about is the idea of adding storage (for you virtual hoarders.... including me) through the USB with an external hardrive or any large storage device. If you are putting downloadable games (or putting retail games from their discs to the memory, as many PS3 users do to shorten load times), you're gonna want that software to load quickly, but with USB 2.0 it doesn't load to fast. I've experienced USB 3.0 and i have to say it loads files much much faster. For those of you who dont know the difference, USB 3.0 is a different plug all together, it isn't popular now, but with increasing storage devices we need increased file movement speed.Posted ImageThat's what it looks like
Anyway, the question is, with all the possible software, and now the rumoured "App store", along with shortening load times of games upto 25GB (rarley ever reaches that point) and the new wonder of updates and DLC... should Nintendo be concerned about not having USB 3.0? Should they add one or multiple usb 3.0 inputs to the back of the system? Do you plan on using more than the 8GB of storage that the WiiU is supposed to come with? And if so, do you think 3.0 is a useful added speed for this application. I think theyy should but what do you think?
