Hi, welcome to the forums 
try going into system settings on the gamepad. go to the TV option, and make sure the resolution is the same as the TV resolution, and also make sure the connection type is the right one, If that doesn't work, does it work on another tv?

yea I find that too. sitting in a room all by yourself with a game like that is not what I call a good idea. Playing with friends is way better.This is exactly why I never bought it, it looks incredible, but I'm simply not the kind of guy that can play or watch a horror
I plan on playing it at my friend's house because like you said, I find these things less stressful with other people around. As for the time, no clue, will tell you if my friend finishes it.
