#317022 Nintendo Distributing NX software kits to 3rd parties

Posted by MorbidGod on 16 October 2015 - 08:40 AM

I hope that the NX will come out in 2017. That would be five years for the Wii U, and give developers and Nintendo time to make games for it. Don't make the same mistak you made with Wii U.

#316441 Devil's Third is Going to be a Good Game!

Posted by NintendoReport on 04 August 2015 - 05:51 AM

From http://www.destructo...e--297153.phtml

I am officially going to publicly put my reputation on the line and call it now - Devil's Third is going to be a good game!

This isn't going to be an extremely detailed blog, but the content is still important enough to get out there now so that it's public and everyone interested in the game who reads these blogs knows.  I sat and watched 4 Japanese gamers play this live today for hours, all day long.  I saw a large portion of single player, 4 bosses, and hours of multi-player, and I literally see no evidence at all to support the hyperbolic narrative in the media right now claiming this is one of the worst games ever made.  I am confronted with two options: 1) I can trust what these people wrote, or 2) I can trust my own eyesight ...

I'm going with option #2!

#316227 Devil's Third Famitsu Interview

Posted by NintendoReport on 25 July 2015 - 03:12 AM

Itagaki has shared a translation of Famitsu’s interview of him for Devil’s Third.

Itagaki is as orthodox as ever, as he asked his interviewer to play the game before they actually commenced. Once they got into it, however, he shared a lot of insight into its development.

With Devil’s Third, Itagaki took what he learned from making action games and fighting games for years and combine them with his newest game, a shooter. Itagaki studied other shooters in the market extensively, and put them all together with the idea of Gekken, using all techniques available to kill your opponent. Itagaki did feel close range battles were a common weakness with most shooters.

Valhalla did not stop working on the game for the last seven years, but it was only in the last six months that they sought to polish up the gameplay and graphics. Because development never really stopped, Nintendo couldn’t make fundamental changes, but they did have a huge impact in development. Itagaki calls out Nintendo’s in house testers Mario Club for their enthusiasm and feedback.

Nintendo’s involvement came about in an interesting way as well; Itagaki bluntly approached Nintendo with all the work they already did. Former president Iwata, in possibly one of his last major decisions, chose to pick up the project for the Wii U. Itagaki believes this is partly because a game like his is uncommon on Nintendo’s systems, but also because Nintendo Co Ltd wants to change themselves radically from within. Thanks to Iwata’s generosity, Valhalla was able to continue and finish the project while keeping their internal structure intact.

Itagaki had user friendliness in mind for the game’s design, so the single player is littered with easily recognizable save points. Gamers who aren’t good at shooters can compensate with action gameplay and vice versa. Itagaki also feels the story and multiplayer modes can stand on their own, a point proven recently since Valhalla is publishing the multiplayer to PC.

Itagaki also talks extensively about the game scenario and premise. You can read it all in detail here.Devil’s Third is releasing in Wii U in the US on Q4 and Europe on August 29. There will also be a PC multiplayer only free-to-play version releasing in September.

#315515 Positive reaction by 3rd parties to NX

Posted by magiciandude on 28 June 2015 - 11:48 AM

Yep, things looked very good back then. More adult rated games at launch, some of the ports being best on Wii U and constant 3rd party support was looking good.

Nintendo must realise their systems should be targeted towards an older market now. 90's and early 00's was different, gamers were mostly kids and i still don't think Nintendo have adapted to modern ways.

Humans are adults more of their life than kids right, so that should be your target audience for the most part. Get 3rd parties back, do your own thing and have a slice of the pie Sony and MS have been eating for over a decade now.

Most of the major 3rd party games that came out for the Wii U was released at full price months after they already came out on other systems and was missing content such as DLC and online. Remember when ME3 for the Wii U was released on the same week that ME Trilogy came out for other systems? Then they start ****ing at Wii U owners even though they were the ones who released half-assed content at full price. Now of course, the low Wii U install base didn't help either.
