#89700 the Wii U & 2nd Parties

Posted by DigitalGreenTea on 24 June 2012 - 09:55 AM

If the Xbox 360 is banned and Microsoft loses money, does anyone else wanna tell Nintendo that they should buy back Rareware?

Not really necessary due to the fact that pretty much all old Rare employees left.

#89339 Well that Nintendo Direct was a bit disappointing...

#88903 Crytek: Wii U is 'minimum as powerful as Xbox 360'

Posted by Nollog on 20 June 2012 - 08:22 AM

It's because of fanboys, and ANONYMOUS developers.
How doesn't he understand that?

Hi CUD.

#87986 I'm the member this Forum deserves, but not the one it needs right now.

#87902 Warren Spector on Violent Video Games

This is probably my favorite quote of the year. I figured it deserves it's own thread, especially since it brings up a lot of good points.

http://www.zeldainfo...-and-netflix-on

This is the year where there were two things that stood out for me. One was: The ultraviolence has to stop. We have to stop loving it. I just don't believe in the effects argument at all, but I do believe that we are fetishizing violence, and now in some cases actually combining it with an adolescent approach to sexuality. I just think it's in bad taste. Ultimately I think it will cause us trouble.

I left Eidos in 2004 because I looked around at E3 and saw the new Hitman game where you get to kill with a meat hook, and 25 to Life, the game about kids killing cops, and Crash & Burn the racing game where the idea is to create the fieriest, most amazing explosions, not to win the race... I looked around my own booth and realized I just had one of those 'which thing is not like the other' moments. I thought it was bad then, and now I think it's just beyond bad.

We've gone too far. The slow-motion blood spurts, the impalement by deadly assassins, the knives, shoulders, elbows to the throat. You know, Deus Ex had its moments of violence, but they were designed - whether they succeeded or not I can't say - but they were designed to make you uncomfortable, and I don't see that happening now. I think we're just appealing to an adolescent mindset and calling it mature. It's time to stop.

#87880 NEW RUMOR: Retro's Wii U Project is a Star Wars FPS?

Posted by Nin_Stream on 15 June 2012 - 11:24 AM

Completley False. Its Starfox. Retro Studios said themselfs we are working on something everyone wants. Who wants a Star Wars game from them? Nobody. Retro makes NINTENDO'S games and revives them Its most certainly Starfox HD not a silly Starwars game.

My uncle works at retro studios. And this is a lie. Instead, they are developping the next Uncharted game exclusively for the WiiU and Xbox 720

#85326 Apparently it will take 30 mins to receive online messages

Posted by Alianjaro on 07 June 2012 - 11:52 AM

Hey people I don't think you totally get this (if I'm wrong, then I am the one that didnt get it :) ). Friend to friend posting is fast and won't take 30 minutes to get sent. For the the Miiverse though, it would take 30 minutes. Anyway, you don't know who posted that message, so do you care about when it was written? You get an endless feed from people you don't know so it doesnt matter.
Also, don't forget that Nintendo is the first to introduce this concept in the gaming world, so who knows if its a bad idea? I mean, did you think of all the problems that can have Nintendo if they don't do that?
For example, lets say a dad buys a Wii U to his 7 years old child. The kid goes online without his dad's permission and sees a message like: "If you read that message you'll die in 7 days". The kid freaks out and is so shocked that he cant sleep for a month. Then the dad sues Nintendo for not moderating miiverse and wins because Nintendo didn't show any terms and conditions. Do you think Nintendo wants to lose money? I dont think so. I think every new console would do that.

Then how do you instantly get help? Then the whole point of MiiVerse becomes obsolete. IT's stupid to moderate for 30 minutes. 2 minutes max and you just have a defined prohibited list of words etc.

You probably are not the only one to ask the question so it doesn't matter. And actually, do you expect anyway to have an instant answer from random people in the world? By the way, it made me think of something. They could make for each game a private in-game chat that would bypass the rule.

This wouldn't be necessary if people weren't so gross and pathetic.  I hereby blame society for this problem.

So do I.

No. That is just wrong! If I am having a conversation, I am not going to wait 30 minutes for a message.

Hey friends bypass the rule. You would be able to chat on the Wii U. The thing that defines chatting is that its fast. No way they implement this to chat.

As long as friend to friend messaging is instant. I don't mind. My comments to the worlds at large won't be as important anyway. But the age seeing idea is good.

This

30 minutes to post a public MiiVerse message. Normal friend to friend messaging is still normal.
