#181475 The Mighty Have Fallen

Posted by Lord N on 10 March 2013 - 06:39 PM

Name: Artemis Vankov or (Artemas Vankov)

Age: 4.54 billion

Gender: Asexual

Description: Myth, Time Mage. White blonde silky hair, 6 ft, 150lbs, Sharp crystal blue eyes, smooth skin.

Brief History: Artemis is the very first human to ever grace the Earth. He was created neither male nor female and is said to be the most androgynous being amongst humans. He is also the first being to transcend the laws of existence through the use of time manipulation, a science yet to be discovered by man. Tales echo of a man seen in various time periods who's helped shape the world by adding himself to a cause. This causes much controversy due to similar stories said about a young woman fighting for equal rights in various time periods.  Over the course of time, Artemis has mastered every class from your average warrior to genius alchemist. A master of light and shadow...and a ghost of the modern age. Truth be told, Artemis is responsible for the 5 mass extinction events that have occurred on planet Earth.
1. The Ice Age Extinction- 85% of sea life wiped out
2. The Devonian Extinction - 3/4 of all species on Earth were eradicated
3. The Great Dying Extinction -  96% of all species wiped out. All life on Earth today is descended from the remaining 4% that survived.
4. The Jurassic Extinction - About half of all species except for plant life were wiped out.
5. The Tertiary Extinction -  This caused the end of the dinosaurs and much other marine life.

Weapons / Equipment: Vary by time period
Beginning of Time to 10,000 B.C. - Primitive weaponry (Sharp rocks, wood spears, bow & arrow, wood/stone staves)
10,000 B.C. to Present day -  All weapons currently made from Wurtzite Boron Nitride and Diamond (daggers, swords, shields, arrows and staves)

-
Artemis got wind of the issues concerning the great city of Furme and set out immediately. Upon arrival, Artemis heard a gunshot in the distance. Surrounded by a field of flowers, she spots two men at a stand off, one had a gun and what looked to me like the Red Queen, the other a half empty flask and a heavily engineered blade. Civil matters were never the strong-suit of a time traveler, let alone one such as Artemis, but he decided he would attempt a parley. He proceeded cautiously yet naturally, as if he were to greet old friends. Little did he know, he was in Wrath territory and time was of the essence. Luckily for Artemis, time was never a problem.

Your reasoning makes little sense. I don't care how tired you and every other Monster Hunter fanboy (that's right, i said it, fanboy) is of hearing the same complaints on a thread. If it applies to the game, I'm going to talk about it. That being said, going back to my original point, there is NO reason why there shouldn't be a tutorial.

If anyone has a problem with me speaking my mind, then that's your problem, not mine. It's not like I'm speaking blasphemy.

As I mentioned, Idk anything about the previous installments of monster hunter, but as a PLAYER, i can tell you that even though it "works" with one analog, it plays so much better with two. My experience on the Wii U confirmed that. There also seems to be different ways to play on the 3DS so if two analogs isn't for you, then by all means stick with the D-pad or camera AI's. Just sayin...its not for me.

As for not knowing how to play, as well as being new to the series, yes...im going to get upset over the controls because well idk, THEY DONT TELL ME HOW TO PLAY. Again, let me emphasize that I'm not sure if the actual game has a tutorial or not, but the demo did not and with a game with many integrated skills, combos and functions...i simply believe a tutorial is in order. Not all of us are Monster Hunter vets.

Other games do it, so i know I'M not the issue. Further proof of this is that I enjoy'd one version of the game over another. Same game mind you, so if there was an issue with ME...per say, I'm sure it would have arisen on both platforms.

Eventually, as I said earlier, I got a hang of the controls and even discovered that you could do combos. I literally had no idea because there was nothing to tell me that such a thing existed. Button mashing worked at the cost of spending a few potions and other items in the process. Anyway, my point is that the demo was lacking in that department. Other than that, i had a really good time.

#115370 Just Played The Wii U :)

Posted by Lord N on 06 October 2012 - 11:42 AM

Actually Noonabites and I recently demo'd the Wii U. Yesterday actually. I confirmed that a 3DS XL stylus will fit into the gamepad stylus slot. I also have many comparison photos as to the size of the game pad to the size of the wiimotes. I also confirmed that the screen of the gamepad is actually the size of the entire 3DS XL handheld. The grip is comfortable and The gamepad is a lot lighter than i expected.

I only had the opportunity to demo Rayman Legends, but that game utilizes gamepad functionality very very well. Its a great game to demo the Wii U with. Unfortunately thats all they had but I will be going every week to demo a new game so stay tuned for updates on other demos. Here are some photos i took while at Nintendo World NYC.

#114422 Mysterious Wii U HD Experience -- Mario Kart? (could be fake)

Posted by Lord N on 02 October 2012 - 11:50 AM

Mann...this is SO LAME! I could make a more convincing fake than this. Look at the jagged lines on that 1st place marker. The map on the game pad looks pasted on..not to mention the idea of it just having a map is already lame-o. I would have it so that you can choose from an inventory and then have it so you can switch to a map if need be.

I am dissapoint.

#104593 The Chatroom

Posted by Lord N on 05 September 2012 - 11:33 AM

I've only been here for about 2 days now, but I have asked around and I've noticed that it's barely being used. The reason its barely being used isn't because people don't want to talk through the chat. It seems to happen because people don't see anyone using the room and whats the sense in joining an empty room?

What I do is I open an extra tab for the chat room, and I have one tab open for the forums. This way I can stay active on a post, while at the same time, be in the chat room. I'm trying to raise awareness of the chat room so that more people can participate in these discussions. People shy away from it because nobody is ever on, but if we each do this then people can take advantage of the room and it can actually serve its purpose.

I find us fortunate to have one, many other forum chat rooms suck big time. Many do not have any at all. Idk.. its just an idea, but please, let me know what you think about it. Thanks.
